What’s with the high waist jeans everywhere?

I’ve been looking for jeans and soooo many are high waisted. Why is it so popular? I can’t see the appeal.

Yes, not cheap BUT I buy jeans every five years. I don't know what they'll look like but I liked the shape.

High waisted jeans have been in fashion for well over ten years, when did you last buy jeans! I had a very high, super skinny pair in about 2013 that I wore with little suede shoe boots or very high heels on a night out.

Mid and low rise jeans are coming back into fashion now. Alas, I don't have the thongs or the hip bones to wear anything as low as I used to!

Why are people so surprised that others aren't up with the fashion? I actually think I've got good style but I don't follow trends. I certainly don't buy jeans very often, and I have always tried to buy vintage or secondhand for sustainable reasons. Although that went out of the window with my Levi's purchase today!

I do have kids and they wear jeans that hang off their asses and are as baggy as hell! My kids are skater kids

I'm happy they are back in fashion, I am in the toddler trenches so I need jeans that won't give me a builder's bum when I'm sat on the floor.

I'm surprised by this post - high-rise are on the way out! Y2K is in, you wouldn't catch a teen or early 20s dead in a pair of mumsy high-rise!

I love them, I wish they weren’t on their way out of fashion. They make my short legs and long torso balance out and I love a good half/French tuck!

however, they do give me a bit of a protruding tummy effect and I’m a size 6 with a flat tummy (had a tummy tuck) so I can imagine them not being flattering in this area.

Low rise ARE back, worn by the very young and cool. They are wide leg or bootcut, and VERY long - puddling over your shoes, preferably. You will find them at youth brands like Weekday, Monki, Urban Outfitters, etc.

Midrise is creeping back a bit. My favourite jeans right now are M&S midrise flares.

High waist is really the most available, but it does seem to cover the widest variety of jean shapes. Even die-hard skinny jean fans can usually get their fix if they’re happy to have a high waist.

I find them more comfortable and they hold my tummy in, I love the ones from Matalan with a bit of stretch

Oh I tried this on last week in Anthropologie, but they were too long for me - they looked great otherwise.

I wear high waisted jeans and I don't tuck and they look good to me. They feel good which is more important to me anyway. I can't bear low rise or the freaking awful hipster jeans . High waisted skinny jeans forever!

I love the Halara high rise wide leg, so bloomin' comfy and actually long legs.

Even with the photo on the left I don’t think it’s a good look and she’s slim. I look at the jeans and think they need at least 6” lopping off the top. 😁

Well it looks pretty good and it fits me ok.
