Oops, I could only see the navy ones, which were a hard no. I confess I don't hate the floral ones as much. And they would be much more comfortable.

If you like them OP, I say go for it. I'm a keen gardener and I'd wear them for a novelty for my own amusement.

TrtseHkpr · 24/08/2025 09:07

If you like them, get them. It doesn't matter what other people think!

Nanof8 · 24/08/2025 21:41

I like the floral ones, I also like the blue ones.

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 24/08/2025 23:10

I almost like the floral ones - the irony if a very staid classic given a cheesy floral
vibe. But I feel the pink is wrong. Just a ghastly colour.
However if it’s your sort of shade Op they are fine I think.

TizerorFizz · 24/08/2025 23:23

They are what a child might like. An adult? This is a style board. These are far from stylish.

'This is a style board'? How snooty. Style is subjective. You sound like someone who thinks bright colours are for children and drops pearls of 'wisdom' like 'always stick to classics'. Yawn.

Agreed. I hope the OP hasn't been put off by some of the comments on here.

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 08:33

@ruethewhirl Style isn’t these shoes! Who thinks style is fancy dress? Sorry if you don’t like it but I cannot imagine any adult I know wearing these - ever. Plus if people ask for opinions, why should we all agree? I’m not cheerleading for what are pretty awful, unfashionable, child like shoes for adults. Step too far!

Edited

'Cheerleading'? Where on this thread has anyone been asked to cheerlead?

Of course we don't all have to agree, that's sort of my point, that style is subjective. But you appear to be trying to tell people what styles are and aren't acceptable based on your own definition of style. Step too far!

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 09:13

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope You can find lovely loafers in a plain bright colour that would be lovely. For summer a bright red suede looks great. For a rigid loafer, look for penny loafers in muted colours, definitely dark red, dark green or a muted blue. Just far easier to live with and won’t divide opinion. Were you ever really keen on these? You did ask for opinions on if they were hideous. I agree - they are!

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 25/08/2025 09:16

It was more the pattern and fun aspect I liked rather than loafers in particular. Though I do want a comfortable shoe, really can’t be bothered with something that is all looks/style but isn’t functional.

I wasn’t sure about them which is why I asked. If I had loved them I wouldn’t have.

@TizerorFizz genuine question: do you yourself dress so as not to divide opinion, and if so, why do you feel conformity is that important? Would you not ever buy/wear something others might consider garish, if it happened to put a smile on your face?

MadKittenWoman · 25/08/2025 09:30

Nope

Anna467 · 25/08/2025 10:00

The ones in the picture are hideous - they remind me of those cheap men's shoes from the 70's with tassles, ick. But the floral ones are somehow much better. I'm in the fun camp.

PInkyStarfish · 25/08/2025 10:03

They are all awful but particularly the flower ones, they are truly hideous.

That's an odd comment. Is uniformity so important to you? And I doubt there's any item of clothing that doesn't divide opinion.

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 17:55

@IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastleWho said uniformity? Style isn’t uniformity - it is far more diverse and interesting. If you follow fashion trends, you are not following a uniform. You pick the best and most stylish options for you. That’s not likely to be kiddy loafers though. There’s no need to be uniform in appearance but most of us don’t want to look rather silly either. Floral shoes can be great but not these!

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 17:59

Good floral attached.

Shoes - hideous or good fun?

I saw someone wearing floral DMs the other day. They looked great.
Possibly these ones. Dr. Martens 8 Eyelet Lace Up Boots Wanderlust Floral - Women's Ankle Boots

Why shouldn"t opinion be divided? What an odd criterion.

And imho opinion the shoes ypu've posted are a bit twee and dated. I don't like loafers but I wouldn't wear your choices either.

In your opinion. If I had to pick between those and op's loafers I'd go for the loafers. Definitely prefer my florals bold and vibrant.

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2025 19:07

@IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle Yep! Dior and Manolos are twee and dated. Unfortunately your taste is a bit off if you think this.

You don't get it do you. Why should opinion not be divided? It would be very odd and unhealthy if it wasn't.

Those shoes are safe, staple basics. LK Bennett for example also have their range of permanent low, kitten heeled courts. I like them, I have several and occasionally wear them, but neither they, nor the shoes you posted, are cutting edge.
