I love the hourglass palettes. Witchcraft in a pan. Use them all the time.

Doubleraspberry · 03/09/2025 06:56

I got the dragon last year and even though I’m cool I use it all the time. I just need to be light on the bronzer. But it’s still going strong a year in.

MrsBnow12 · 03/09/2025 07:22

I was trying to convince myself I don’t need another Hourglass palette this year but they are so tempting as they are gorgeous.
I am still planning a DIY advent and this would make a perfect day 25.

@OvaHere What are you doing to me?! I was so focused on advents and now here I am. I’m tempted to forgo one of my possible ACs for one of these palettes. Like you, I purchased the medium shade palette last year when really the light one would have suited me better for day to day.

@JoRaRaRa You will love your palette, and you’ve made a great choice on design.
although I bought the medium shade last year, I often wear fake tan so I tend to use the palette for going out/special occasions. I do also wear when I’m paler, but just lightly use it. I love how they melt into my skin, they are by far the best I’ve tried

I'm hoping it's not too dark for me. The light palette only had 2 blushers and then 2 finishing powders, and I really liked the purple-y toned one in the medium. Fingers crossed it's OK. Eek!

That's how I've ended up with it, I've bought the Harrods beauty calendar but don't like the rodial blush drops, so I started looking for another blusher to put into my advent calendar, then these palettes came up and I was sold 🤣

It would be a perfect day 25. Not that I'm encouraging you or anything.

Is it meant to soak in? 😳

I don’t know! But I hated the feel of it on my face! I suppose it would have to go somewhere? Eventually?

I really like that purple blush in the med palette. More than the blushes in the lighter palette but I fear overall that palette would be too dark for me. I think unless you're ghostly pale (like me) it will probably be fine for you. One of the nice things about HG powders is that you can do light touch, I find you have to build them to get a lot of pigment.

@OvaHere I believe you now have to wait a certain time (21 days I think) and then they send you a link. Any reviews before then/without the link don't count.

MathsFiend · 03/09/2025 08:49

Just got the email about Cult Beauty. Looks like 2 versions, both at the same price £240. But the limited edition version appears to have everything the classic version has plus a whole load of other stuff. Presumably to encourage you to order early to get the limited one.

Plus a £20 voucher if you order in the next 48 hours.

IlovePond · 03/09/2025 09:25

I really love the idea of those Hourglass palettes, but I only ever use eyeshadow and blusher - I can’t see me ever putting powder all over my face!

I wish HG did one of those palettes containing eyeshadow and blusher and maybe highlighter, because then I would definitely be in!

I have also no idea which one would be my colour - I suspect the Swan colourway, (which I would put in the Fox palette if I was buying one!)

I got the little HG blusher from the SpaceNK calendar from eBay last year and love it. I also have some eyeshadows that I like, but don’t use as often as I should since I discovered Bobbi Brown eye pencils!

Doubleraspberry · 03/09/2025 09:28

It's such light powder! It just makes you subtly sparkle/light and matts any sheen. It doesn't rest on your skin like an old-fashioned face powder at all.

psuedocream3 · 03/09/2025 09:31

@MathsFiend The original focuses on perfume, the limited edition focuses on skincare/makeup

Other way, CB Limited is perfume and only available in some countries, Classic Curation replaces the perfumes with other stuff and is available internationally. @MathsFiend the AC thread is here if you’re interested in an AC www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5396898-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-3

MathsFiend · 03/09/2025 09:36

@psuedocream3 That's not how it looks in the product page. It looks like the limited one has everything plus extras.

Really? That's weird. My reviews went through fine as you can still click make a review on the product page. Did they send an email about this? I wish CB would stop messing around with everything.

Yeah you can still make reviews but you don't get points unless done through the link, lookfantastic is the same now too. I didn't get an email and I only know because I asked why it wasn't adding points on lookfantastic.

IlovePond · 03/09/2025 09:55

Thanks @Doubleraspberry I really shouldn’t get one - if I did, it would be instead of an a/c, (which might actually be quite sensible!)

Yes, LF ask me to leave reviews, but when I try I can’t do it. It’s annoying as it was a good way to get points!

IlovePond · 03/09/2025 10:01

Does anyone know if these HG palettes will be available in-store?

I have a JL £50 gift card, (given to me following a terrible CS experience). Using that as part payment would mean the palette became semi-affordable/an almost reasonable purchase.

I’m guessing I would have to buy the Swan, though, as they wouldn’t be customisable in-store????

Thelifeofawife · 03/09/2025 10:09

My Hourglass palette from last year is still going strong, it looks like I’ve barely used it. But I am still tempted by the lighter palette for an enhanced day to day look.

There are shades in the medium palette that are fine for pale skin tone, but I don’t want to run out of a couple of them and there still be loads of the others left in the palette. That’s why I tend to just use when I have fake tan or a bit of a holiday glow.

The blush I got in Space NK advent calendar last year has been used daily. I also bought a second one of those.

Doubleraspberry · 03/09/2025 10:11

I totally killed the HG highlighting powder I got in an advent, despite never thinking I'd be a powder person. And the palette is my go-to. I got the brush too which I love (but am a person who has never been good at brushes so any decent brush would probably have been an upgrade for me!).

Arrearing50 · 03/09/2025 10:13

Right medik8 new vit c and new peptide in the bag for space NK GWP….on balance decided I wanted that more than the ACs so far…

Thanks. That was a waste of the reviews I did then. Annoying.

I think I might go to my local SNK on Saturday! Then I can use their advice for the right Medik8 serum - I am in a quandary about which one to buy, Vit c, peptides etc. - and hopefully spank enough to get the GWP!

Arrearing50 · 03/09/2025 12:31

It’s tricky isn’t it - I don’t have a current retinol and beauty pie just bought out a new extreme youth bomb too….ive met few medik8 products I didn’t like though!
