As we always say, @Cassiope , taste is subjective and it would be very boring if we all thought the same. I think it drowns her a bit, but as usual with Leti, hair and makeup on point.

I see what you mean @Maireas; it's difficult to be sure about the volume on the basis of one photo, but I think it avoids the sack look and I'm happy to give it the benefit of the doubt. It's so summery and a refreshing change from all the long-sleeved, long dresses nipped in at the waist, which seem almost Victorian in their primness. Oversized spots instead of polka dots too.

I agree about the voluminous trousers though - they seem to have been made with twice the optimal amount of fabric and have the limp look I so strongly dislike. I don't think the cropped length of the rather pretty crochet top helps.

Maireas · 01/08/2025 21:39

Yes, I agree with you about the trousers, for me it's the proportions. I know what you mean about Leti's dress, it's different and cool and cut more loosely. I'm just not keen on the cut and the way it hangs. It's good to see all three women in flat sandals, though - I sometimes think royal women's footwear looks so high and uncomfortable!

@Maireas I really like Leti's dress! I've refrained from commenting lately to avoid being negative about all the summer dresses I haven't liked, but that one gets a big thumbs up.

It would be lovely in the heat catching every hint of a breeze. I'd wear a dress like that.

Eaumyword · 01/08/2025 22:18

I love Leti's dress and overall look. Think it looks very fresh and stylish. Not keen on her daughter's wide trousers outfit, but gosh, her daughters (assume it is daughters) are beautiful there.
Not keen on Mary's spotty dress - think it would look better a little less structured.

KnickerlessParsons · 01/08/2025 23:05

Mary’s dress is a bit odd, and the Spanish ladies are all wearing the same sandals.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 02/08/2025 01:25

Mary and Mafalda, the littlest one in the family.

It's something about the sleeves on Mary's dress.

I said upthread I wonder if they got a job lot! 😊

Sweet! Is Mafalda a bit overwhelmed?
Mary looks very nice, I really like her dress, the cut and proportions. The sleeves aren't too poofy.

I like Mary's spotty dress!

deeahgwitch · 02/08/2025 07:29

I love Leti’s dress @Cassiope

Harriet is very stylish.
She isn’t unlike Peter’s last partner Lindsay Wallace. I thought that would go the distance.
Is Harriet still working as a nurse in the NHS ?

StartupRepair · 02/08/2025 01:50

It's something about the sleeves on Mary's dress.

I love the square neck and the polkadot but there is something a bit too poofy / child’s dress like about the sleeves plus they must have very visible elastic or else they will keep falling off. One side looks like it’s about to slip down here.

Edit to add: I would wear Leti’s dress over Mary’s too.

I love Isabella’s maxi skirt but teamed with a voluminous peasant blouse it’s too much fabric. I bet she normally wears the skirt with something cropped or a spaghetti strapped camisole which would be better proportions but she had to cover up for the photo op / occasion.

Lovely news about Peter and Harriet, I'm all for a royal-ish wedding.

Peter definitely has a type!

Maireas · 02/08/2025 09:47

I quite like the green batik dress, is the young woman Josephine?

She might well have been! I think the guards had just finished playing which could have been quite bombastic.

Yes that's Josephine and that dress is my favourite of the photo.

I have a dress like Mary's. Same pattern M&S . Again lovely in the heat.

Charles at Met Highland Games today. Not great picture. But he does look like his dad Philip here I think!
fashion wise not sure of the colour combos of the kilt, jacket and socks, a bit of a mid match.

non fashion wise. I wonder how the royals feel flitting between all these different houses. It must be really unsettling to always be on the move. QEII was between Windsor, Buckingham palace, sandringham and balmoral ( and the royal yacht) but Charles has added highgrove and castle Mey into the mix too (and swapped Buckingham palace for Clarence House) I couldn’t cope with all that moving. I would forever be looking for something that I had left at the previous house!

Chesticles · 02/08/2025 20:37

forgot to add the picture

Yes, I'm not sure about the colour combo, and the socks do make a statement...

Edited

Well you just need a valet or maid and you're sorted

Cassiope · 02/08/2025 22:01

Re the kilt and socks, it looks a bit as if he's paired Modern red socks with an Ancient tartan. Or possibly a Modern Hunting tartan. I believe the colours of the Ancient versions of tartans are more subdued, because traditionally they came from vegetable dyes. Hunting tartans tend to have a lot of green and brown (woodland colours?) in them.
