Do you think I can get away with this dress for Europe this summer ? I am almost 59. Size 10 (hope it fits haven't received it yet). I’m now thinking the print is quite young ? Thanks for your input

Am I too old for this dress?

Lavendersong · 02/07/2025 04:01

It’s not too young at all

GarlicMetre · 02/07/2025 04:05

Of course not! It's charming, fun and contemporary.

There's nothing more ageing than 'dressing old', OP.

Overtheatlantic · 02/07/2025 04:06

Beautiful dress and it would suit any age.

SandersNilestrom · 02/07/2025 04:06

It’s lovely.

NeedZzzzzssss · 02/07/2025 04:06

You'll look fabulous 👌🏼

Goingawayistricky · 02/07/2025 06:16

I think the print is fine.

My only hesitation would be the colours which may be a bit pastel. Which you won’t know until it arrives. White and pastel and pattern and puff sleeves could look a bit try hard?

But I would wait until it arrives. Could be your dress of the season in real life.

zebrastripesarefun · 02/07/2025 06:30

Beautiful dress. Love the colour and pattern. Would suit any age. Have a great time

RococoUnicorn · 02/07/2025 06:36

The dress is beautiful and perfect for a whimsical Summer. I don't think we are ever too old to wear what we love. Do so with confidence and you will look brilliant.

Woollygreymittens · 02/07/2025 06:51

Gorgeous dress, you’ll look great

I think I may hate the phrase "a bit try hard" even more than "mutton dressed as lamb".
Don't be wearing anything too fancy and drawing attention to yourself. Who do you think you are anyway...
This may be over-interpreting the phrase and be rooted in my own issues.
Anyway, lovely dress. I hope it fits and you enjoy it.

landlordhell · 02/07/2025 07:43

I don’t know what you mean. Was expecting a mini dress. It’s lovely .
OP try watching Friday Night Fashion on YouTube with Amanda Wakely (60) and Jo Elvin(50s) or Middle Aged Minx with Jo Good( 70) for some style inspo.

Megifer · 02/07/2025 08:10

I'd wear the shit out of that op its fabulous!!

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/07/2025 08:12

I was expecting a strapless micro dress. That dress is charming for any age.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/07/2025 08:12

It’s absolutely gorgeous op and not Too young no. I’m the same age and want it immediately.

cheesycheesy · 02/07/2025 08:13

if you like it and feel good wear it! Youre never too old to wear anything

Notaripoff · 02/07/2025 08:14

It's a lovely dress OP and you are not too old at all.

Ugh to those posters that just can't help themselves with "is it an Amazon rip off" and "bit try hard".

Summerhillsquare · 02/07/2025 08:17

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 02/07/2025 05:57

Of course you're not too young.

Is it Alémais?

https://www.endource.com/product/alemais-sunset-printed-linen-midi-dress/ZfKyDNjkHAABjFsB

Or the Amazon rip off?

1amzn.eu/d/aEoMaVJ

Alémais seem particularly susceptible to that.

Oof, that is shocking. The other colours offered are completely different dresses! How do they get away with?

Steelworks · 02/07/2025 08:18

I love the shape of that dress and you’re not too old. I’ve definitely got less conservative in what I wear as I’ve got older.

You’ll probably get lots of admiring glances from people who wished they were a bit more confident with what they wear, rather than the safe capri trousers and tshirt combo.

I have the same quandary with my dresses and am a similar age but have come to the conclusion that it is more to do with a suitable body/face than age per se. In my case, I adore dresses that tie behind the back and give me a defined waist but realised only recently that I look like my mother borrowing my teenage daughter's dress. My face and body are not 'delicate' -no one would ever call me elfin!- though I am a slim and hourglass shaped 12. My friend, a similar age and body shape looks amazing in the very same dresses and they look absolutely right on her. She wears the dresses and not the other way round, if you see what I mean.
So if you have always suited these pretty delicate dresses then I guarantee you will still look amazing in them! Go for it and enjoy it.

Catwoman8 · 02/07/2025 08:21

It's a dress that could be worn by all ages IMO. The look of the dress can change depending on the overall look , ie how the hair is worn, what shoes it is paired with , cardigan or on its own etc.

waltzingparrot · 02/07/2025 08:24

Beautiful dress @Retiredandreadytotravel Wear it because you love it.

I always wonder how many future threads it may spawn after you've been spotted in it....

Saw a woman wearing this dress........

Does anyone know where I can get this dress (long distance photo attached)?

My size isn't available, anyone want to sell?

Is this too white for a wedding?
😂

Barney16 · 02/07/2025 08:52

If it's Alemais I'm very, very jealous. If it isn't can you post a link?

Zempy · 02/07/2025 09:01

I don’t know why you think it would be too young?

It is lovely. Have a great time.

olderbutwiser · 02/07/2025 09:08

Can I borrow it please (if it’s the alamais one, I can afford the Amazon ripoff)? I’m 67.
