Recs for a lemon perfume that doesn’t give off ‘cleaning spray’ vibes?

I am after a lemon perfume that actually smells of lemons and not toilet/bathroom cleaner.

Ones I’ve tried that to me have the cleaner smell are:

Eros Pour Femme Versace
Under The Lemon Tree Maison Martin Margiela
Yellow Diamond Versace

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you 🤗

Lush Dad's garden lemon tree body spray, very fresh, long lasting or avocado co wash for more lemon meringue/ key lime pie
Xerjoff Lira is much sweeter and warmer
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria range have lots of lovely citrus scents, there's a bergamot one which is probably closest to lemon

Try "light blue" by dolcha & gabbana its super citrusy they even do and extreme version. I have never found a better lemon perfume that actually smells of 🍋. Would 100% recommend 👌

I wear White Neroli & Lemon by Valentte UK. I get lots of compliments when I wear it, most recently on holiday in Crete. It's a beautiful summer fragrance and doesn't smell remotely like loo cleaner! 😂

I know it sounds a bit 90s chavvy teen but I LOVE the CK One Summer editions. They're always really citrussy and fresh. I stock up every year!

I smell a lot of lemon in Penhaligons Luna, balanced though.

When I was a teenager back in the 70s Boots did their own lemon cologne in a tubular frosted glass bottle. I was gutted when they discontinued it. I do wonder if I'd still like it as much now.

I had some of that! My abiding memory was applying it liberally at work (alone on the 3rd floor) on a boiling summer Friday. Next thing there’s a swarm of wasps trying to get in the window. I ran out the door and locked it. Lots of dead wasps come Monday.

Check out White Linen by Estee Lauder. It’s not actually lemony, but it has a lovely fresh, clean scent which isn’t overpowering.

Edited

Oh this takes me back 40 years! A boss bought me a bottle for Christmas one year, I was so excited as I’d never had ‘proper’ perfume before!

I sprayed it in the office…I smelled like cat pee…it was so bad on me 😩 Gutted!

White Roses and Lemon Leaves by Jo Loves is gorgeous

Tifical33 · 27/06/2025 18:53

Following as well

MedievalNun · 27/06/2025 19:00

I was just following until someone recommended 4177. I googled it. And went ‘ooh’. And then ordered some 🤦🏻‍♀️😹

Oh well it could have been worse. I could have gone to the Guerlain site. (Which, by the way, has an amazing. ‘Heritage’ scent called Jicky. And is the reason I’m avoiding the site as I need some more)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/06/2025 19:08

I've just ordered some Loccitaine Verbena thanks to this thread.

twilightcafe · 27/06/2025 19:13

I dug out my bottle of Mary Greenwell Lemon, thanks to this thread!
I don't think I smell like a pub drink! 😆

ifionlyhadacat · 27/06/2025 20:40

@MedievalNun I'm saving up as I have nearly finished my precious Jicky

I do love it, but I think it's a more challenging perfume than some because of that bitter edge (I remember quite a few of us on here buying those Mary Greenwell perfumes for a bargain price when they were discontinued but not everyone liked Lemon). I actually like to wear it for important meetings at work because of that bitter top note and woody base.

ColinCaterpillarsNo1Fan · 28/06/2025 07:59

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is a mix of citrus and vetiver. Lovely citrussy scent but £££.

Riverlie · 28/06/2025 08:11

Verviene by Loccitane.

MsDastardley · 28/06/2025 09:17

I also like the Mary Greenwell lemon, and this has reminded me that I have an unopened bottle. I just found an article where Mary says her favourite perfume is Sisley Eau de Soir, which I also have. It has lemon notes, but don’t think it’s what the OP has in mind! I used to love that, but it has become harder to wear as I’ve got older. Might give it a try today

PrissyGalore · 28/06/2025 10:44

The best is the Goutal Eau d’Hadrien. Also Aqua di Parma Colonial smells of Italian lemon. I don’t rate the Margie.a Under the Lemon Tree-it’s too sweet.

If you’re ever in Spain treat yourself to the baby cologne they sell there. It’s beautiful.

You can buy this on Amazon. I bloody love it! I need to buy some more it’s called nine o abd they have shower gel and moisturiser too.
I take it to work for a quick refreshing spritz.

Could you link to it please? I can’t find it .

I second L’Occitane Verbena. Lovely scent

deeahgwitch · 28/06/2025 14:17

Another vote for Annick Goutal Eau d’Hadrien.
But it is expensive.
A cheaper option is L’occitane Verbena.
