Recs for a lemon perfume that doesn’t give off ‘cleaning spray’ vibes?

I am after a lemon perfume that actually smells of lemons and not toilet/bathroom cleaner.

Ones I’ve tried that to me have the cleaner smell are:

Eros Pour Femme Versace
Under The Lemon Tree Maison Martin Margiela
Yellow Diamond Versace

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you 🤗

Following because I'd really like one too

sueelleker · 26/06/2025 09:40

It's not actually lemon, but Elizabeth Arden's Sunflowers has a sort of citrussy scent.

Years ago, I used to use CK One - which I remember as being quite citrussy.

4160tuesdays lemon sherbert or Fluffy lemon top

Lemon notes is such a Y2K throwback for me! My husband loves lemon (has been using the same lemon shower gel for years) and I had a few nice perfumes early 2000s.

Look for "sea" or ozone / aqua themes, often paired with lemon for a light bright citrus breeze.

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue

Armani Acqua Di Gioia

There was another one I can't think of right now Inna pale blue bottle, I'll come back if I remember it.

Guerlain used to have one in their Aqua Allegoria range, it's been discontinued but they have other citrus based versions that might be close to what you're looking for.

L'Occitane Verbena is very lemon citrussy
(Verbena is a lemon scented flower)

I had a Jean Paul Gautier perfume years ago that was very lemon-y, it might have been "Classique" but i thought what I had was a limited edition. Can't find reference to it anywhere so maybe it was the Classique?

The Library of Fragrance will probably have something your after, they specialise in single notes.

Second vote for 4160Tuesdays sherbet lemon. It’s fresh and citrusy without smelling like a cleaning product.
their rhubarb and custard one is also amazing

I like the Turkish cologne, properly lemony and really fresh. Super cheap, doesn't last ages so I carry a small bottle in my bag.

** look on Amazon

Outofthemoonlight · 26/06/2025 10:47

Check out White Linen by Estee Lauder. It’s not actually lemony, but it has a lovely fresh, clean scent which isn’t overpowering.

Openthisdoor · 26/06/2025 10:48

I love my Lublin gin fizz that to me smells very lemony.

I used to love Dolce & Gabana Sicily but I don't think it's produced anymore 😕

The body lotion lasts longer in my experience. It's a beautiful scent.

I love citrus fragrances and have tried several over the years. The best one I've found is Hermès Eau de Citron Noir, which I wear all the time. I often get asked about it. My second favorite is Chanel No. 5 L'Eau, the version with the white label.

girlwhowearsglasses · 26/06/2025 10:56

Acqua Colonia - blood orange and basil - so refreshing and citrussy

TidyWasp · 26/06/2025 10:57

I've heard 4711 Eau de Cologne is a good citrus scent (lemon, bergamot and orange) though not particularly long lasting. It is cheap though so maybe worth a try!

O de Lancome.

OMG, that's just bought back memories

That was my signature perfume back in the 80's , Loved it, never wore anything else

l’eau d’Hadrian Annick Goutal

tobee · 26/06/2025 12:04

How about Miller Harris Lumière Dorée?

It's maybe more bergamot but it's got a depth to it that makes it not cleaning spray adjacent.

Oh I literally came here to say exactly this 😆I am still so sad they don't make it anymore.

I use Clinique Happy at the moment, which I do like, but it's neither as durable nor as lemony as Sicily.

BestIsWest · 26/06/2025 12:15

I’m wearing L’Occitane Verbena at the moment along with Fragonard Belle de Paris which is a floral. Love them together.

Ô de Lancome is lemony. I
