I very nearly bought a Stratberry bag today...

.... i might go and look at it again tomorrow. I've been promising myself a good mid-range, not-quite-designer (but almost) bag for ages.

What are people's experiences of Strathberry? Worth it? The other brand I love the look of is Polene.

Ooh, I started a thread looking for an alternative to Aspinal and was recommended Strathberry. I visited the Covent Garden branch at the weekend - the customer service was very good and I loved the Kite Tote for a new work bag. Lovely quality.

On that thread I was also recommended Demellier but I haven't seen any bags irl.

I'll try and link the thread.

Which one? I just want a nosey. Interested in what people like.. personally wouldn't buy one as I don't buy leather.

I ordered a Demellier and whilst a very pretty bag, it was smooth leather so knew it would scratch easily so sent it back.

Have also admired Strathberry and planning to pop into the Covent Garden store next time I’m in central London.

I have a couple. Nice bags :)

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 17/06/2025 00:02

I have one that I got in a sample sale (if you’re on their mailing list and can get to a showroom they do some pretty good sample sales). I do like it, it’s very elegant but as PP said, is prone to scratches. That being said, I once had to carry it in snowfall for about two hours and it was none the worse for it! My mum is a Strathberry devotee and has several - she loves them. She got one for a recent birthday and they secretly popped a purse in as a surprise- I think that’s only for the real repeat customers though.

I love Strathberry ❤️

I have a midi tote in pearl grey and an Osette in a neutral colour.

Which one do you have your eye on OP?

Pickled21 · 17/06/2025 02:09

They have a sale on some designs at the moment. I've not bought one yet but am tempted. I'd like to visit a store first to try them on.

I have the demellier vancouver bag which is reminiscent of the celine box bag. It's in the smooth calf leather and is prone to scratches although mine hasn't yet.

I do like the look of several polene bags and might buy the neuf or cyme. I also like the look of aspinal of London and would quite like a trunk
bag from there.

Ruthietuthie · 17/06/2025 02:57

I really like Strathberry and find the quality better than Polene. The one I have (Mosaic Nano in the oat color) is pebbled leather and I find it really resilient. I am prone to scratching things, but this is unscratched so far, despite not being babied. I also have a mosaic wallet as my everyday wallet, which has been used vigorously, and it still looks lovely. The leather is good quality and the hardware is heavy and solid.

MarxistMags · 17/06/2025 03:06

Yikes ! £100 to £400 + for a handbag. By mid range I thought you were meaning Kipling bags under £80 ! Silly me.

The Mosaic one; it's about the right size and very classic design imo

You'd probably notice any scratches less, but the chocolate might be easier to buff any scratches out??

I think (other than possibly one PP) people were saying the Demellier is prone to scratching, not the Strathberry. The pebbled leather of the chocolate is probably less prone to scratching than the shinier finish of the croc. I have the black mosaic nano and really like it, although I have babied it. It only comes out for special occasions.

What would put me off Polene and Demellier is they're very popular with influencers and have been copied by the Chinese companies. I fancied the Polene numero neuf but Shein are selling a dupe. While it obviously wouldn't be as good quality, I wouldn't want people thinking I had bought from one of those sites.

RedDiamond · 17/06/2025 12:20

Now I know I'm not with it! I read this as a Strawberry bag.😂

showyourquality · 17/06/2025 12:54

I have one, a nano tote in alligator green. Sadly it’s too tiny to actually fit my new phone but looks nice on an evening out and isn’t so expensive I need to worry about it getting damaged.
liked the holiday tote but I’m not sure I can justify $500 dollars for a holiday travel bag.

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/06/2025 12:58

I have the cross body Osette from Strathberry, and the large size DeMellier New York tote. Love both, great bags.

Ruthietuthie · 17/06/2025 13:15

@Pigtailsandall, I also looked at exactly the bag you are thinking of and it is GORGEOUS. And, as it is pebbled leather, will not scratch. It's a great "wear with everything" bag.
I also need a dark brown handbag for winter, and am choosing between that and the Le Marcia bag by Leo and Violette. I think I prefer the shape of the Strathberry but am not sure about the white visible stitching for winter....

I very recently bought a beautiful new Polene bag (boxed, with tags, authenticated) from Vestiaire Collective and I couldn’t be happier with it. So beautiful. I actually like it much more than most of my ‘designer’ bags.

Yawn.... this is style & beauty where some of us would prefer a bag to a holiday

Ooh we have a similar bag taste - that's lovely

@Pigtailsandall, I thought that too! As soon as I read which bag you were considering I thought "EXCELLENT TASTE!" I don't think you will regret buying it. The quality is superb and it is just the right size to fit everything in (wallet, phone, car keys, tissues, lip balm) and yet still small enough to wear as cross-body when you are out and about.

This is nice to hear. I fully get the point upthread about Shein knock-offs (god I hate them) but I just love most of them. I might get a black one from there eventually, then I'd have black and brown 🫠

I have a couple of multrees wallets and the quality is excellent - leather stitching and hardware.

MidnightMeltdown · 17/06/2025 15:06

I have a few Strathberry bags including a mosaic and a mini mosaic. I really like them. I think they great quality for the price point and I like the understated look. Designer bags are usually too flashy looking for my taste.
