Black Tote Bag - alternative to Aspinal?

To reward myself for a promotion, no I have been hovering on the buy button of a Mulberry tote bag for a few months.

I've just worked out the reason I'm hesitant is because there are Mulberry fakes and (totally realising I'll be judged for this) I don't want people to think mine is fake.

Ultimately I want a good quality, luxury bag in a classic style that will last for years.

Inspired by a thread on here I've looked at Aspinal online and there's a few I really like so am going to have a look irl in a few weeks.

Given my criteria above, are there any other brands I should be considering?

I quite like the look of the Demellier Tokyo Tote, although the Aspinal still edges it I think.
Strathberry are a bit too formal.

My coach Willow has been good. Had it a year now.

Came on to say Strathberry or Demellier. 😄 If you like the Demellier Tokyo, then the Strathberry Kite might work. It’s beautiful in chocolate suede. Id take either of those brands over Mulberry any day.

Although I have been hovering over a Mulberry Amberley for a couple of years and have an original Alexa. 🤣

Agree. The more I've looked at Mulberry, the more I've realised it's not for me.

A thread on here sent me down a rabbit hole of their manufacturing, and only a relatively small percentage are now British made - a few years ago, this was one of their USPs.

Pleased this has been a considered purchase for me otherwise I think I could be regretful!

I went to the Aspinal store in Covent Garden today but the London tote was so heavy even when empty that I dismissed it, and their other totes weren't quite right either. So we went in to Strathberry which is literally next door. The customer service was excellent and omg, you're so right the chocolate brown suede Kite is simply stunning! I have decided on the Kite in black leather and will be purchasing after my holiday.

There’s more to Longchamp than Le Pliage. They do some beautiful buttery leather tote bags in a range of beautiful colours. The hardware is lovely and they’re understated but great quality.
