Are these shoes nice or awful

scramalam · 27/05/2025 19:15

I've ditched almost all of my heels since covid and live in trainers or birkenstocks.

I ordered these the other day and can't decide if I love them or hate them. Are they really out of fashion, they seem pretty comfortable.

I like them, and I think fit flops are awful in general

UpMyself · 27/05/2025 19:18

Neither. I can't say I like them.

mdinbc · 27/05/2025 19:19

Like. platform is too high for my comfort, but I really think they look nice.

Ddakji · 27/05/2025 19:21

I’m no style guru and I wouldn’t wear them myself but I do like them.

SisterTeatime · 27/05/2025 19:35

Hard to say. I think the shape of the sole and heel is slightly wrong somehow, especially in proportion to the size of the strap. But they’d be worth trying on to see which side of the cool/frumpy line they fall. I’d be interested to know what they’re like to walk in.

bubblesformiles · 27/05/2025 19:40

We used to wear things like this in the 1970s. Bloody uncomfortable.

UrbanMonstrosity · 27/05/2025 19:40

I think they look odd on the model. But I’m the least stylish person you’ll ever meet probably.

cinnamonda · 27/05/2025 19:42

They look heavy to lug around

Moier · 27/05/2025 19:42

I had similar in the 70s from Sacha.
Couldn't wear them now.. but still like them.

SantanaBinLorry · 27/05/2025 19:47

I cringed a bit when I saw the Fit-Flop link coz as a rule those things are fugly...but, those are OK and fairly on-trend in a summer chunky way. I think they'd go well with a lot this summer; floaty skirt/dress, tailored shorts, flarey jeans.
I've a similar pair so I hope I'm right 😅
The straight strap across the front would probably dig and bother me. Mine have a woven criss-cross.

2chocolateoranges · 27/05/2025 19:55

I like cork wedge sandals and have a few pairs but these look really clumpy.

Ilovemyshed · 27/05/2025 19:57

Horrid and clumpy. Sorry.

Corknut · 27/05/2025 20:15

Like and I’m picky

MoominMai · 27/05/2025 20:38

@scramalam I think they’d pair very well with a very long summer skirt/maxi dress or long wide baggy trousers.

PrimevalStomp · 27/05/2025 20:52

Or you could have these:

It would never occur to me to even look at Fit Flop footwear - but clearly I’m a fool, because they’re really not that different to these sandals by a brand whose footwear I have regularly lusted after. (Not these, though.)

Grammarnut · 27/05/2025 22:08

I like them. They look stylish and comfortable.

Picklechicken · 27/05/2025 22:18

They’re okay. Not “in” as such (think Birkenstocks, really clumpy fisherman sandals and then weirdly the total opposite of these - super strappy feminine kitten heeled sandals, that’s what seems to be “in” at the moment), but they’re fine and if you like them they won’t look particularly out of place.

They've got a fisherman sandal just down the page, which I only noticed because I wondered what else they had.

I've been seeing this style around quite a lot recently so I think it's going to be quite popular this year, but fisherman sandals look to be more popular this year.

I like them and the fact that there are different colours to chose from. I have a very simple pair of fitflop er flip flops which I got last year as a "slipper" to wear when in hospital and they were great for keeping me steady on my feet as I got back to walking properly after big surgery and I still wear them around the house - I've worn them out, they're a very bog standard looking flip flop - and whatever else is going on with the brand, they are comfortable, so if you like that sort of style and want that style - I like them - you know that whatever else they are, they won't be hurting your feet. Why not find a pair in the wild and try them on, see how they look on you?

Turkeypie · 27/05/2025 22:44

Think they’d look nice with the right outfit.

however my middle age feet are growing corns just looking at them Grin

Picklelily99 · 28/05/2025 00:26

Hideous. Bulky. Clumsy. Chunky. Comical.

BebbanburgIsMine · 28/05/2025 01:50

They don’t look very comfortable, very expensive too.

GarlicPile · 28/05/2025 01:56

bubblesformiles · 27/05/2025 19:40

We used to wear things like this in the 1970s. Bloody uncomfortable.

So did I, and always had comfortable ones! In the past few years I've duplicated them, as near as possible. I like OP's FitFlop ones but they're out of my price range - and I don't actually need any more big sandals.

Monty27 · 28/05/2025 02:02

@scramalam They're great. Imagine how you can wear so many different things. It'll totally expand your wardrobe choices.

Onthemaintrunkline · 28/05/2025 04:04

Heavy and clunky. Very 1970’s looking, they look uncomfortable, I do like cork though just not this style.

CurlewKate · 28/05/2025 05:12

I think it depends on how they look on. Can you walk “normally”-for want of a better word? Because I know they would make me be kind of unattractively clumpy!
