Are these shoes nice or awful

I've ditched almost all of my heels since covid and live in trainers or birkenstocks.

I ordered these the other day and can't decide if I love them or hate them. Are they really out of fashion, they seem pretty comfortable.

Blast from the past…I had navy cork platform wedges when I was a teenager in the 70s, despite DM’s prediction I’d break my ankle.

DinoLil · 28/05/2025 07:45

I'm a Fitflop fan and I love those!

DeSoleil · 28/05/2025 08:02

Frumpy clod hoppers.

RentalWoesNotFun · 28/05/2025 08:09

The more of us that wear whatever the hell we want the better. Go for it if you like them and they make your look good. Dont concern yourself with what influencers or whatever think.

The fashion industry is there to make money and make six foot tall skinny people look good. Most of us dont look like that and should pick things we like and make US look good, not things that people tell us we should like during a certain season in a certain year but then not like. Utter madness!

Buy things that you’ll use for years and enjoy using. If these shoes are that then great, if not dont buy them and search till you find something you really love.

ExtensiveDebating · 28/05/2025 08:21

Awful, the colour, the platform, back to the 1970s and not in a good way.

PrimevalStomp · 28/05/2025 08:29

Oh goodness, @RentalWoesNotFun - you know, your first and third paragraphs are perfectly reasonable …

But what fearsome God of Boring Nonsense hacked your device in the middle? Confused

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/05/2025 08:35

Very nice. Quite on trend just now too, and as they are Fitflop I assume will be very comfortable.

PersonaNonFatta · 28/05/2025 08:38

The cut out in the middle of the wedge is too big… it would look better smaller, but in any case I’m screaming in pain looking at these: my foot somehow slipped sideways when I was wearing something similar years ago, and twisted and broke!

Flamingoknees · 28/05/2025 08:38

I like them for flared/wide jeans or trousers only. A very 70's look.
They look terrible on thw model. It would take a good stocky ankle to wear with a skirt.

cinnamongirl123 · 28/05/2025 08:39

Not my cup of tea, sorry. They remind me too much of what my mum and her friends wore in the 70s.

deeahgwitch · 28/05/2025 08:41

Ilovemyshed · 27/05/2025 19:57

Horrid and clumpy. Sorry.

I agree.

Viviennemary · 28/05/2025 08:43

Hideous. Like a time warp back to the early 1970's.

IdiottoGoa · 28/05/2025 08:50

bubblesformiles · 27/05/2025 19:40

We used to wear things like this in the 1970s. Bloody uncomfortable.

I just missed wearing them so in my head they’re really cool because all the bigger girls wore them and I wasn’t allowed them.

But £125!!!?? Get yourself on Vinted and save the planet and your money.

HundredPercentUnsure · 28/05/2025 08:52

Hate platforms.

Hate fitflops.

Bizarrely though - I don't hate these. I don't love them either though. 🫣

I cringed a bit when I saw the Fit-Flop link coz as a rule those things are fugly...but, those are OK and fairly on-trend in a summer chunky way. I think they'd go well with a lot this summer; floaty skirt/dress, tailored shorts, flarey jeans.
I've a similar pair so I hope I'm right 😅
The straight strap across the front would probably dig and bother me. Mine have a woven criss-cross.

Which sandals do you have please, they sound like what I'm after.

cottaterra · 28/05/2025 09:23

I like them, a friend had some and she found them comfortable. But she also found that the cork peeled off the sole, so be warned!

SantanaBinLorry · 28/05/2025 09:38

I got them from M&M direct, One of the very few places that sell my size 2.5. These are vegan leather 🤷 and I think they were only about £30... they are dead comfy.
Brand - refresh... with a backward r 😅

I'll try and find a link, they had them in black too if I recall.

Can't find the exact ones (cant upload foto of mine), but these are very similar.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 28/05/2025 10:01

I think they're lovely but would need to try them on to make sure they're not too heavy to wear. I have a beautiful pair from M&S a couple of years ago, similar but the base is wood rather than cork and while they are gorgeous they are so heavy and clumpy on my feet I don't wear them nearly as often as I'd hoped. You'd presume because they're made by FitFlop that they'd be comfy but definitely try on to be sure!

Thank you 🙂

Ramblethroughthebrambles · 28/05/2025 10:24

I like them, but then I'm really into a slightly 70s look at the moment. I'd check how you walk in them first though. There's nothing worse than someone staggering about because they can't walk in chunky platforms. It changes the look from stylish 'of an era' to clodhopper. And I think I might be including myself in that!

pictoosh · 28/05/2025 10:37

Lovely - I like them.

AnonymousBleep · 28/05/2025 10:47

I like them but wouldn't pay that for them - I've seen cheaper versions on the high street.

True - I've got some lovely Fatface platforms that look great until I put them on. They make me weirdly flat-footed. Still can't bring myself to part with them although I'll probably never wear them out of the house!

notnowmrshudson · 28/05/2025 11:31

Love those sandals! As for fitflops you do you as long as they're comfortable! Although nowadays I'd invest in Hoka shoes as they are so comfy - just another suggestion in case you'd like to explore more x
