Got to go for work in a couple of weeks and will have some time to browse the mall. What is worth getting there, beauty wise? Make and/or skincare

Secret deodorant

YourAzureEagle · 07/05/2025 21:38

Tylenol, a brand of paracetamol that I have always found works better than British paracetamol.

Placebo effect! It's the same drug
(In fact, I think it's a lower dose than ours)

Lolopolo · 07/05/2025 21:49

Differin - it’s a great medical grade retinol and pretty cheap.

parietal · 07/05/2025 21:49

On my recent trip I came home with melatonin, goldfish biscuits and bacon chocolate.

Automatic Rifles

Lethal cars

But seriously I suggest that if you are looking at bringing back 'medication' you should have a look at the Customs rules

Also (and only if you like the idea of goat milk based skincare) Beekman 1802 products. You can get a very small amount of the range here but not much. It's sold at Ulta I think.

Maybe, It is indeed, 300mg as opposed to 500mg per tablet, my only thinking is that the coating or other ingredients speed up absorption, who knows!

Comes in a tub of 300 tablets, which lasts years!!

I’ve been using Blake Brown hair products (Target) and really liking it, hair smells lovely and hair is noticeably better looking. I have tried everything from Olaplex to Keratase.

FridayNight1975 · 07/05/2025 22:01

I love Fritos and Cape Cod crisps

Don’t understand why they only sell the bbq Fritos here in the uk.

Gundogday · 07/05/2025 22:02

Guns

Gettingbysomehow · 07/05/2025 23:13

Shoes in all half sizes and all widths at normal cost both hundreds of pounds. It's easy for me to shop there because I'm 5.5 E.

I got some nice toiletries from Trader Joes. Body oil, lovely soap etc. Super cheap and had a bit of a boutique vibe (although my sister who lives there says TJ is seen as budget brand). I also liked the funky TJ tote bags and bought several. A trip to Target is also fun for clothes that are a little different to here and amazing make up and toiletries selection. You could also pick up one of those cool Olowa bottles from Target for cheaper than here (they sell them here in Anthropologie). Yeti bottles/mugs also big over there in every colour imaginable.

Which store do you buy this in?

DreamTheMoors · 08/05/2025 01:25

Arrested and deported to Venezuela.

fatgirlswims · 08/05/2025 01:56

I got some Eucerin Skin Balance night cream from Marshals (identical TK maxx- owned by the same group but slightly better than the UK)
Cannot buy it or the day cream in the UK. I like it and it was $6.99 instead of $22

BUT trader joes is where it’s at! The totes! The bagel seasoning! The pecan pralines! The peanut butter pretzels. Have a look at a Reddit or google what to buy at trader joes. It’s having a moment. And if you can be arsed it has really high resale in the UK. They also just brought out a night cream.

FoxesBisQuit · 08/05/2025 02:02

Definitely seconding the suggestion for Secret deodorant. It is a game changer.

St Ives collagen skin cream is fab.

Ruthietuthie · 08/05/2025 02:44

Another recommendation for Trader Joes. Lots of nice things to eat that are a bit unusual.
I also always take home the crest white strips.

@Chouxyou can buy Differin in any drugstore or grocery store in the US. My DS’s pediatrician recommended it when he had some minor teenage spot breakouts, I’ve tried it on myself and my whole face started flaking so use it sparingly at first!

The large tubs of pain killers aren't cheap but it can be useful to have them in larger quantities.

walmart or costco will have them inexpensively

haha…I am American and buy paracetamol because I think it works better than Tylenol!

Which store do you buy this in?

walgreens, Walmart, Target, CVS….it is usually kept with acne medications but it is just a lower than prescription dose retinol.

Crushed23 · 08/05/2025 04:34

Great thread, I live here and had no idea about some of these things. Definitely need to get my hands on some Azo and Secret deodorant!

PrestonHood121 · 08/05/2025 04:47

OTC adapaleine gel for acne.
