What five things have you bought recently or been using/wearing lots that you really love?

Trilogy rose hip oil - been using it for about 4 months every night. It’s really lovely.

Kenzo Flower perfume- a proper blast from the past for me! I bought a Chloe one at the same time, but it doesn’t last at all, whereas I’m aware of the Kenzo for ages.

Cos heavy boxy T-shirts - it’s a bit too warm for them now, but I was wearing them on repeat for ages

Urban Decay green eyeliner and eyeshadow- I get loads of comments whenever I wear it

Marks and Spencer black ribbed tube dress - just a really useful basic

A top-of-the-ankle length bias cut linen mix skirt from an M&S outlet store. It looks like current stock but it's not on the website otherwise I'd be getting a second. I might make a pattern from it and do a copy.

An Oska blue linen shirt from my local dress agency.

1960s black and green dogtooth jacket from Hunky Dory on Brick Lane, years and years and years ago.

Toast wide leg ankle length cotton twill trousers that I bought about 8 years ago. They're coming to the end of their life and they don't make them any more Sad I've even taken to Ebay to try and find some.

The Vogue book, 'More Dash than Cash' - found a charity shop copy and devoured it all over again.

I havent lost any weight at all but I'm trying to embrace it and find nice summery things to suit my fuller figure.

My 5:

  • M&S boyfriend ankle grazers in washed black - the wider cut looks more modern but there isnt an acre of fabric flapping around which there can be with wide legs for larger sizes
  • Oliver Bonas denim jumpsuit - a bargain in the sale for £35. I havent worn it yet but I've got an event coming up that it will be perfect for, I always feel so much better when I think I look 'right'
  • Percy & Reed Wonderbalm - expensive as I use it every day but it's often on offer and I recently got a massive one on Vinted, I'd never thought to look for anything other than clothes on there
  • Khaki DM sandals - a late sale purchase last year but I knew I'd get so much wear out of them
  • Gingham cross body bag from Uniqlo - it's 'that' half moon style but I love the gingham as it feels a bit fun and livens up my often quite plain wardrobe

Loving this thread!

  1. Boden high rise wide leg jeans. So comfy and look stylish.
  2. Adidas pale green almost pearlescent Sambas.
  3. Sezane white shirts- bought a few, but particularly love the Rym one.
  4. Natura Bisse Sheer Eye Diamond Cocoon - spenny but a little goes a long way to make me look alive in the morning.
  5. Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balm- love it so much in various colours!
ToadRage · 07/05/2025 13:33

Haven't done a lot of shopping recently as lost my job in January.
I did buy:
New slippers - my husband ripped up the carpet anticipating a new one and i kept stabbing my heels on the grippers going down stairs in my old mule type slippers.
Loungefly Disney backpack - I actually bought this on Vinted just before losing my job and the seller wouldn't accept it back.
St Ives apricot scrub - I like to mix up my skincare now and then but always return to this favourite.
Hello Kitty magnetic bookmark - my old bookmark has gone missing (probably left in another book) and I have been using a mini photo.
T Shirt - I went on Temu and found a tshirt that said 'In my defense i was left unsupervised' Lol

@Sunnysummers

I started using the tret twice a week and gradually built up. When it came to using it every night my skin just wouldn’t settle so for the last year I’ve dropped back down to every other night and that’s perfect. I moisturise very well on the nights off, using Avene Cicalfate+ at night and Cetaphil sunscreen in the day.

I don’t bother moisturising on top of the tret any more as my skin is calmer that way and don’t mind going to bed with my face feeling dry, but others couldn’t possibly go to bed with just tret on, which is understandable.

There are 28 ‘doses’ in each tube (plus a bit extra if you keep twisting) so it only costs me about £13 a month. I just wish I could set the subscription to shipping every 8 weeks instead of every 28 days then I wouldn’t have to remember to go in after every delivery and change the date of the next one. Apart from that I think its a really good service.

What a fab thread! (Or not, because I have a shopping addiction)

Adanola sports jacket, sports bra and shorts. (Sorry I know they’re 3 things but together make 1 gym set)

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush setting spray. I bought the mini, so if I like it I’ll invest in the bigger one.

Nars tinted moisturiser - will use instead of foundation as don’t like foundation now I’m in my 30’s!

Kerastase overnight hair serum. Like it so far.

& finally
Misstress Rocks denim shirt - https://www.mistressrocks.com/dark-blue-oversized-denim-shirt.html

Shuv’s from FitFlop - I’ve wanted some for years and since picking some up in the sale I’m obsessed.

The Ordinary liquid make up - loved this years ago, it got discontinued & the recently brought it back. It’s fantastic.

a men soft brown leather jacket from Vinted (£10!!!). Whenever I wear it I get comments. Plus I love it.

ditto Damson Madder checked tartan quilted jacket. So comfy & I always meet new people when I wear it.

sainsburys Tu barrel jeans. Read about them here on S&B, picked up a pair. Love them. They work brilliantly with my yellow Elvis & Kress recycled firehose belt.

BippityBippityBoo · 07/05/2025 15:01

Can I have another 5? 😎

Green Tea scented bath products

Toast Annie jeans

Nootie pet shampoo. Don’t care that its for dogs, it gives me amazing softness and shine and it smells amazing.

Celtic & Co sheepskin house boots. My floors are cold!

Yorkshire decaffeinated tea. Deep in Peri, so I’ve been trying to cut down on caffeine to improve my sleep and this one is delicious.

BippityBippityBoo · 07/05/2025 15:05

@ToadRage I had a very bad experience with St Ives scrub in 1985. My own fault entirely.

I’d no idea you could still get it!

Insidelaurashed · 07/05/2025 15:11

For me it's;

Leopard print mom jeans, I think mine were Tesco but they're blooming everywhere. I feel like they add a bit of personality to my otherwise boring jeans and a plain top outfit

Leather sandals I bought in Marrakesh last year-they're so comfy and look really stylish. I bought a gold pair and a leopard print pair (and you're all starting to see my love of leopard I'm sure!)

A gorgeous neon coral lipstick, think it's an old MAC one, can't even remember the name, but it brightens my face so much

A red leather cross body bag, again a Marrakesh purchase, bloody love it for spring/summer outfits

The prescription sunglasses I invested in so I can finally see when it's sunny. I got as chunky as I could find, thick purple frames, so whilst the frames are meant for standard glasses they do, with their tinted lenses, look like they're meant to be sunglasses

I am also having St Ives Apricot Scrub 80's/90's flashbacks - loved it!

What great idea for a thread!
I’m loving my wide leg Halara jeans, they are very comfortable but look a bit 70s retro.
Last years pale blue suede New Balance trainers and Birkenstock Chelsea boots are still looking good( I re dyed the boots to freshen them, am feeling smug about how well that worked) .
Shapermint bras ( I’ve got 3 different colours)
Trinny London eye pencil.

I love threads like this. I have never heard of either Halara or Shapermint before @DelphiniumBlue, and now I am obsessed with them both. Thank you

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/05/2025 17:26

@Floisme Oh my gosh - I was addicted to’More Dash Than Cash’ back in the 80s! I wore all sorts of strange combinations as a result, making me look even more of a sore thumb in my very traditional working class village. The Victorian petticoat worn with DMs wasn’t received terribly well, I recall!

Big bottle of Anais Anais in the Boots sale, my fave summer fragrance. First by Van Cleef & Arpels is Autumn/Winter for me.
Pair of Scholls, the classic beech/leather flat, you can hear me clopping along!
3 pairs of summer shorts/cami tops from Primark, for bed/lounging. Good value and very pretty.

Gliblet · 07/05/2025 18:40

I love St Ives scrub, I've even got DH hooked on it 😁

My five would be:

Heavy silver earrings from Etsy - one is an elegant little teapot, the other is a cup and saucer

A Joe Brown's cover up type top in peacock colours with the sleeves open to the elbows

Rimmel Wonder'last eyeshadow stick in Frosty Rose

An unbelievably flattering pair of black cotton harem pant style trousers from a local market stall (hoping they have them again this summer!)

Saltworks 'Oud Bazaar' perfume

I wear DMs and Victorian petticoats still. I started as a teenager in about 1985 in the Leeds area (where Punk was still in and New Romantic quite the new thing!).

BippityBippityBoo · 07/05/2025 19:25

I can’t find you now but whoever mentioned Shapermint bras thank you! They look fab and I’ve just ordered two to try.

I’m going through a middle aged stage of bras being uncomfortable and good old M&S just isn’t cutting the mustard any more.

Whitecleanoverneat · 07/05/2025 19:30

I've had a complete head of highlights done and it's taken years off me. I feel like a new person.

My new hoop earrings I had for my birthday.

Some new t shirts with a frill short sleeve - sound horrendous but are lovely.

New birthday eyeshadow.

Last one - I found a neon amber shower gel from molton brown I'd forgotten I have and I'm loving using it each night!

You are my style icon.

I've actually just sewn a white skirt for my summer holiday that is very much in the Victorian petticoat area. I won't be wearing my DMs with it though - just flip-flops!

ALittleBitWooo · 07/05/2025 19:55

A Bare Minerals lilac eyeshadow palette.
A pair of Nike Victori Sliders, they’re like walking on clouds!
Marian Keyes book series on The Walsh family, re reading because I heard there’s a tv series coming out soon and it’s been 20+ years, still very funny.
A new Sun lounger
Lots of new garden shrubs.
A very random selection I know!

mewkins · 07/05/2025 20:26

A Levis XL denim skirt

Some lovely high necked vest tops from H&M and Arket in black and green.

Adidas handball spezial trainers in a sort of muted orange colour.

A Vinted bargain - a black Ikat cotton sleeveless Fatface top which I will wear loads in the summer.

A Seasalt plain khaki long dress with short sleeves and scoop neck (bought in the post Christmas sale).

GeorgianaM · 07/05/2025 20:31

Mavala Luxor nail polish - pretty pink nails.
Lancome flutter extension mascara - no clumping, my lashes but better!
Chantecaille rose tint - when I’m not wearing make up I wear this and it makes my skin look perfect.
Whistles puff sleeve t shirt broderie anglaise sleeves - I’m on the look out for more puff sleeve t shirts as they are very flattering.
Poetry linen slim fit jeans - perfect fit. Usually I have to put darts in waistbands but haven’t had to with any of these
