What five things have you bought recently or been using/wearing lots that you really love?

Trilogy rose hip oil - been using it for about 4 months every night. It’s really lovely.

Kenzo Flower perfume- a proper blast from the past for me! I bought a Chloe one at the same time, but it doesn’t last at all, whereas I’m aware of the Kenzo for ages.

Cos heavy boxy T-shirts - it’s a bit too warm for them now, but I was wearing them on repeat for ages

Urban Decay green eyeliner and eyeshadow- I get loads of comments whenever I wear it

Marks and Spencer black ribbed tube dress - just a really useful basic

Really really pleased with my Next pack of v neck t shirts. Yes simple t shirts, but they fit down to my thighs which is what I wanted, are not that bastard viscose stuff and just the right weight (hate thick t shirts!). Not buying much at the moment as 'between homes' but needed more t's. Also got some really nice fabric leggings from Amazon. All about the comfort. I live in leggings and jeggings! Oh and some pull on bras, also from Amazon.

So that is 3 out of the 5 things you asked for!

Actually I also like the Aldi Caviar Day cream. Feels lovely!

BestIsWest · 06/05/2025 17:00

A pale blue (men’s) sweatshirt from Zara with Snoopy on. I NEVER wear sweatshirts but this one makes me happy.
https://www.zara.com/uk/en/washed-snoopy--sweatshirt-p04087454.html

A blue and white Breton from Seasalt - https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/womens-mind-charity-sailor-shirt-striped-top

I’m also wearing Kenzo Flower at the moment and I layer it with one of the cheapo perfumes from M&S (Midnight Iris or something).

Boots No 7 Spring Pink lipstick. Really brightens me up.

And best of all this bangle that DH bought me for my birthday which I adore. https://886.royalmint.com/collections/x-ray-silver

Women's Limited Edition Mind Charity Sailor Shirt

Soft organic cotton charity Sailor Shirt. All profits from its sale will go to Mind, to support the charity as it provides help to those who are experiencing mental health challenges.

  1. A bright yellow cotton sundress I got off a local market stall. Literally everyone who’s seen me in it compliments me on it. I bought it in grass green this weekend as it’s been such a hit.
  2. Elf Lash Extender tubing mascara in brown. I’ve tried all the tubing mascaras and this is the best for the price.
  3. Eucerin pigment control factor 50 tinted sunscreen. Goes on beautifully, gives a lovely light coverage, and has stopped my hyperpigmentation.
  4. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse body oil. I love the way it feels and smells.
  5. UNIQLO bra tops. I have several styles, find them very comfy and versatile, and surprisingly supportive considering I’m a G cup.

If I was allowed a sixth, it would be Boots curl cream. £1.99 for a big tub and the absolute best thing I’ve found for my curls - and I’ve tried loads of expensive stuff.

MounjaroMounjaro · 06/05/2025 17:47

I'm another who's lost a lot of weight on Mounjaro and consequently have a huge interest in clothes now. It's so hard to think what suits me now - I hid in black clothing and jeans for so long and it's incredible that I can go shopping and look for size 12 clothes.

I've realised that a higher neckline doesn't suit me now, so button-up shirts are out, as is anything like a polo neck. Crew necks are fine, weirdly. Dark colours don't suit me as much as lighter colours too - it's been decades since I wore lighter colours and I still need help as to what suits me. I'm going to book myself in for a colour analysis soon.

Lately I've bought:

The Mom Jeans | M&S Collection | M&S These jeans in cream. They're OK but you can see the fabric of the pocket at the front, if that makes sense.
Pure Cotton V-Neck T-Shirt | M&S Collection | M&S - I love this
Agnes b roses shirt in purple. 100% cotton. Size 12. | Vinted - this is lovely but a bit too tight - a British size 12 obviously isn't the same as a French one!
Stunning Massimo Dutti print blouse | Vinted - I like the soft colours, but not the neckline
Mango, blouse with knot detail | Vinted - I like the colour on me and the shape of the neckline, but it's a bit too much like something my mum would wear.

M&S

The Mom Jeans | M&S Collection | M&S

The Mom – the retro fit that’s right up to date. Sitting high on the waist, slim at the hips and softly tapering through the leg, these jeans are effortlessly flattering and cut to an ankle grazer length. They’re made from cotton and blended with just...

Tret. I've been using it for 3 mths and my skin looks so much better. It's the best cream I've ever bought. I get it from: https://pharmas-online.co.uk/product/tretinoin-cream-tretiheal-20g-tretinoin-cream-for-acne-treatment/
HAUS LABS Hy-Power Eye, Cheek & Lip Pigment Paint 7g Cocoa Matte
Labo santal 33 perfume.
I have a pair of canvas and a pair of leather shoes by VIBAe.
They're the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

I'm finding this thread so interesting and enjoyable - very glad I started it! It feels like the old days of S&B where people are just genuinely happy to talk, without all the sniping. I'm especially enjoying @Shetlands ' excitement about her finds!

@orangetulipsinbloom I really like the pattern of your M&S dress. I tried some trousers on in (I think) the same print, but they swamped me. Lovely, lightweight fabric though - would be brilliant on a hot summer holiday.

Loving the pink Pumas @BippityBippityBoo

@AnnParrot I forgive you for cheating because @Deathraystare on;your used up 4 choices! :)

@BestIsWest That's interesting about perfume layering - I've never tried that before.

Are the pumps the striped ones?

I just bought those.

The cherries. I did like the striped ones. Might need those next 😉

Sunnycats · 06/05/2025 19:56

I've been wearing the m&s palazzo jeans lots, I feel like a million dollars in them.

Open weave crop cardigan from m&s

Archie's sliders in black - so comfy and worth every penny!

A navy jumpsuit from white stuff that has gorgeous Puff sleeves and a bow tie round the back

My Miss Dior Perfume

This top from Oliver Bonas - it's v simple but so flattering and looks amazing tucked into the palazzo jeans!!! www.oliverbonas.com/fashion/cream-red-striped-square-neck-ribbed-top-381016?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping%20UK&utm_term=39-760-805-443&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19573636947&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5ubABhDIARIsAHMighY1-hSn4ycppkp_f4gF4N1KXIDBLdERPlPKLlb7OqHjrJG4zOtWrWMaAhQ7EALw_wcB#selection.color=17

Sunnycats · 06/05/2025 19:57

Oops just realised that was six things 😳

Sunnycats · 06/05/2025 19:59

@AnnParrot I too use the eborian cc cream - absolutely love it and much better than a foundation!

mixedpeel · 06/05/2025 19:59

New: mint velvet midi dress - it is so much nicer ‘on’ than the website photos show. I am a pear with small boobs and the orange trim shaping on the waist somehow shows off my shape beautifully. https://www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-floral-puff-sleeve-midi-dress-green-multi/p113131313?size=12&s_ppc=2dx_mixed_fashion_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20151164127&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1zqEiKjxWnBMP5lQZvWvki0v&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4M-l88CPjQMVJpJQBh3W5zJ8EAQYAiABEgLwlPD_BwE

Fab quality white t-shirt, recommended on a S&B thread a few weeks ago:
https://rapanuiclothing.com/product/womens-v-neck-t-shirt/

Already had:
Aerin Rose de Grasse perfume - from a ‘discovery set’ so nearly all gone now

Green suede adidas campus

uniqlo skipper blouse in navy (need to wear plain dark colours for work, and this is so perfect to help me look smart enough without needing ironing, and is super comfy and doesn’t get wet stress armpit marks. Work stress sweat is The Worst)

Princessfluffy · 06/05/2025 20:02

Loving wearing these items in my wardrobe. The bag, hat and tshirt are my spring 2025 buys.

I bought a multi pack of Next t-shirts last year, it was five neutral colours. Slightly large round neck (not quite boat, but not a true crew either), short sleeves and - best of all - a curved hem. I love a curved hem. I've been really pleased with them,a great buy.

Lhoop · 06/05/2025 20:46

Lovely thread! Am enjoying reading about what is bringing everyone a bit of joy. I’m 3 weeks postpartum so have spent the past many months hiding in leggings and baggy tops - and now wearing more of the same but with added baby sick! I am really looking forward to getting back into some proper clothes soon! I’m hankering to buy or be reunited with:

Citizens of Humanity Aya cropped jeans. So expensive but I love them. Have promised myself I will buy them as a treat to myself when I’m back in my usual size!

Toast Jessa dungarees. A previous Vinted gem - love them in the summer.

M&S khaki tote bag - kind of practical without being a big rucksack full of nappies.

Celine Triomphe metal sunglasses. I’ll never buy these because the price guarantees I’ll sit on them or lose them. But looking for a dupe to cover up the eye bags.

Byredo Gypsy Rose perfume. Mmmm.

Fab idea for a thread!

  1. Korean face oil.. who would have thought I could put oil on my face and not get spots? I’m OBSESSED and look 5 years younger
  2. Bronzing moisturiser - used with face oil makes me look all tanned and glowy
  3. Period pants: should’ve been around in the 80’s!
  4. Wide legged cargo jeans from ASOS petite.. they literally can be worn with anything and look amazing and cool
  5. Trinny London foundation thingy that goes on white and changes to your skin tone. Really worth the money

Which face oik do you use please? How long have you used it for? Tia x

@BippityBippityBoo your mention of Tretinoin caught my eye … do you mind me asking what difference it has made to your skin (I’m a similar age and am debating trying it) and which brand you’re using? Thanks!

Great idea for a thread @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie!

It’s a random Korean one I found in a chemist last month. It’s a pink minimalist box and it’s called “So-Ko” (I think they’re also known as So Cute). I’ve used it every night for a month and only had a tiny breakout a couple of days before my period. I’m utterly amazed! I’ll try to find out the link and come back..

Sure. I’m using Skin&Me and get their standard tret / niacinamide / azelaic acid mixture. I picked that one because I saw it on a Ruth Crilly ‘Model Recommends’ video!

They start you slowly and prescribe based on a questionnaire and photos of your skin. If you don’t send photos they will only send you moisturiser, no actives.

Its a good service and the subscription is very easily controllable on the website but in the early days they do try and sell you other products quite a lot (sunscreen, moisturiser, serum) so you have to keep an eye on that. I just use Avene and Pai products with it instead of theirs.

Its hard to say precisely the effects. At first it just stings and you wonder why on earth you’re bothering as nothing seems to be happening but I stuck with it, learning what worked for me, and at about the one year mark I woke up one day around my 53rd birthday with…just really great skin.

My fine lines and the texture under my eyes that made concealer a nightmare had gone. The small but permanent patch of hormonal acne on my chin and the scarring from years of it, open pores and uneven colouring - all gone and three patches of sun damage still there but greatly faded, although they were admittedly not too bad to begin with. I just look clean and fresh, and wearing makeup, which I’d given up on, is an absolute pleasure again.

If you want to try it use a referral code, it reduces your first tube to about £3, and Its about £26 a tube after that. I use one every two months so I find it very affordable.

DareDevil223 · 07/05/2025 08:51

I'm 9 and a half stone lighter than I was two years ago and now a size 10 so I have discovered a passion for clothes and jewellery.

Current faves:
Hush Cordi Barrel leg trousers so comfortable and very easy to wear, I have them in blue and very dark grey.
Marks palazzo trousers in caramel and sable - lighter than jeans and good for work and casual.
Tilly Sveaas medium silver and gold curb bracelet - wearing this every day, I love it.
Cos short double-faced wool jacket in black - goes with everything
Hush sage green barrel sleeve jacket - lovely short and swingy shape, the ams aren't very exaggerated, they just add some interest.

I could go on because I have been splashing out a bit but a lot of my new wardrobe is from Vinted. I've always loved clothes but now I really feel that I look good in stuff and (slightly sadly) I feel as though I am worth investing in now.

Lovely idea for a thread, I've enjoyed reading everyone's items.

Fab thread OP!

Pink chunky alohas harper sandals that I bought a couple of years ago - weirdly go with everything and make any outfit look like I made an effort, even old jeans and t-shirt.

Nivea pink rock lip oil - I had a l’occitane pink lip balm that was the perfect colour and of course they discontinued it, but this the the closest replacement I’ve found, and it’s really nice plus cheap!

Flowy black maxi for summer - I actually love colours and prints but also gravitate to a black maxi - I have a few but the perfect one is an H&M loose jersey vest dress that somehow magically flatters and skims 50-something lumpy bits. Dress up with interesting sandals or trainers, cool shades and nice necklace/bag etc.

Looking for a new favourite perfume after all my faves have been bloody discontinued and I’ve run out of eBay options 😡 and my best new find is Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit.

Black leather orla Killy willow bag - off eBay. Big, sturdy, gives off boss lady vibes (though i’m really not!) perfect for taking your laptop and paperwork on the train on a work trip, totally love it.

Sunnysummers · 07/05/2025 09:36

@BippityBippityBoo - thank you for such a detailed response, it’s really swaying me towards getting on with it! Loving how it has done so much for your skin.

If a tube is lasting you a couple of months, how many nights a week do you use it? I was thinking I’d have to budget £26 a month so for it to last longer is another positive! Will do some thinking over next few days!
