Late 30s/early 40s - what do you get done?!

Thejugglestruggle · 22/02/2025 14:57

I recently had my first ever botox appointment. I went quite conservatively for one area, and I'm thrilled with the results. I couldn't believe the number of people in the waiting room, and it's opened my eyes to what people in my age group regularly get done in terms of beauty.

Tell me what you get done and was is worth the money?! I'll go first!

  1. Shellac every 2 to 3 weeks on my hands, year round
  2. Toes done monthly May-September
  3. LVLs every 2-3 months
  4. Hair cut every 10 weeks or so, hair dyed around 4 times a year.
  5. Recently started botox

Yes eye opening thread.. I would love to see before and after for those who have lots of treatments.
I'm 42
Root touch up every 6/8 weeks
Haircut 2/3 times a year.
Exfoliate daily
Daily moisturise
Daily gradual tan
Rarely have nails done

I wonder if the people I know who get Botox have the same practicioner sp? I've yet to see anyone who doesn't look permanently shocked 🫣

You might be surprised. I bumped into 2 people I didn't realise had anything done in the waiting room at the botox place I went to haha

Whatever happened to growing old gracefully?

sHREDDIES19 · 22/02/2025 18:26

I’m 46 and get my hair cut and coloured every three months but that’s it as far as investing in myself with treatments. I do exercise and have always used spf and do facial yoga so I think I look natural and am ageing well without any intervention. I don’t think I would ever consider using Botox as it freezes the muscle rather than strengthens it. I’d be afraid is starting it and then having to keep paying a small fortune to get the results back.

NancyJoan · 22/02/2025 18:27

48 next week.

Brows micro bladed every 2 years
gel manicure every 3 weeks, pedi in the summer
hair cut and colour every 5 weeks
bikini wax every 2 months
Botox between eyebrows every 6 months
Lip filler once a year
have got some filler in my cheeks; not sure I will do again.

Yes, it’s expensive, but I can afford it, and I like the people I go to, so don’t resent the time it takes.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 22/02/2025 18:27

Nothing whatsoever!

LostInAMist · 22/02/2025 18:29

38... Absolutely nothing 😂 I look a state! I need to get a bit of a grip!

TremendouslySinister · 22/02/2025 18:31

Would be interesting for men of the same age group to list what treatments they have ...

I am 34 and for me I am quite similar to you OP.

  • Botox twice a year currently.
  • Hair dyed twice a year
  • Hair trim every 9-12 weeks
  • Hollywood & eyebrow wax every 5-6 weeks
  • Gel nails every 3 weeks
  • Gel nails on feet usually only for special occasions but during the summer I might get them done every month - they last so long!
  • Massages every quarter
  • Laser hair removal every 6 weeks on my legs
SiobahnRoy · 22/02/2025 18:33

Mid 50s, no tweakments. Use a gua sha and decent skincare. Recently announced early retirement, colleagues shocked I was old enough 😀

I agree!!!

Tarantella6 · 22/02/2025 18:38

I'm 40. I get my eyebrows threaded every 2 weeks, and I get my hair cut and coloured every 8 weeks ish.

I have been wondering if having a regular facial would improve my skin but as pp have said, it's a lot of time and money, and I'd rather sleep more and see if that helps!

Shamalamb · 22/02/2025 18:38

I’m 37

Have:
Hair cut approx yearly (I only ever wear it up)
Previous laser hair removal in my 20’s
Gel pedicure every 3-4 weeks April-October
…I thought this made me really high maintenance tbh 😂

Expecting my third and final baby and have promised myself teeth whitening and some kind of laser treatment (haven’t researched) to a red acne scar from my teenage years after they are born.

I don’t think I’d be able to fit in much more though with full time work - no off site lunch break - and little children - will be three under four. But I should maybe make more effort!

ThisLoftySquid · 22/02/2025 18:38

Hair cut and colour every 8 weeks
Eyebrow shape and colour every 8 weeks
Facial once a month
Back, neck and shoulder massage once a month
Nails if I'm going to a wedding or similar event.

I'm mid 40s.

I agree!!!

Why? DH doesn’t give a shit what I do or don’t have done. I don’t care what he does either.
Frankly what men do has no effect on the choices I make for myself.

I’d just find it interesting? Not saying their choices would affect mine!

Nickisli1 · 22/02/2025 18:43

I'm early 40's and have just started botox and finding it amazing 👏 😆 Never thought I would, but here we are!
Apart from that I get nails done every few weeks and hair cut every 5/6 months.
I've started using more creams like retinol recently

bodychanges · 22/02/2025 18:49

How much is Botox?

Disturbia81 · 22/02/2025 18:50

Practicepracticepracticeagain · 22/02/2025 17:25

Oh god, loads!
Shellac every 2 weeks
Shellac pedicure every 6 weeks
Waxing (legs and Brazilian) every 3 weeks
LVL every 10 weeks
Dermaplaning every 8 weeks
Cut and highlights every 8 weeks
Eyebrow tint and wax every 4 weeks
Facial & massage every 6ish weeks
Botox & Profhilo every 4 months
Dry body brushing daily
Weight train 5 x per week (makes a big difference)
Vit c every am, retinol every pm plus seperate neck serum and relevant moisturisers
Also electrocute my face every day with my FOREO Bear (except for 2 weeks after Botox) and am considering investing in the Lyma…..

Just read all of that and wondered why I still look like a bag of shit 🤣🤣

All of it works for me though and I feel and look better for it. DH doesn’t care either way but he does always notice when I’ve had Botox and profhilo. My face moves and looks normal, I just look more awake and less tense!

Hope your DH makes as much effort!

onetwothreefourfive11 · 22/02/2025 18:50

29

Botox (once) wouldn't bother until I have actual lines. Thought was a waste of £190

LED face mask
Phillips Lumea laser
Just stopped getting false nails
At home pedicure, I do a better job than the salon ones

Snail murcerin
Steam my face to get the blood flowing/extrsction
Hair mask/mayonnaise hair mask
Haircut 1 a year when it gets wispy

Need to sort out my diet and cut out sugar!!! Help

Presumably much less! Although my husband is now wondering whether he should get botox between his eyebrows now he has seen mine ha!

Thank you for sharing!

Which vit c do you use?

Also do you follow a YouTube video for weight training? Or what do you do please?

Smokesandeats · 22/02/2025 19:00

I’m in my 60s and I’ve never had anything done. Luckily my eyesight is now too blurry to see any wrinkles and I can’t hear any criticism without my hearing aids! 😊

SittingNextToIt · 22/02/2025 19:03

Nothing.

Warm water wash in morning no products. Nivea face cream.

Hair oil Sundays and wash and condition as usual.

No grays yet on jet black hair, and no lines/11s etc.

South Asian genes and plenty of water. Don't wear make up etc.
