My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

Ooh I love an engagement ring thread! Congratulations, OP!

I’m lucky enough to have two. The first, from late DH, is a padparadscha sapphire in a diamond halo set in rose gold — he and I designed it together. He died in 2020 and I still wear it most days on my right hand, along with my wedding ring.

DP surprised me with a proposal this summer – completely out of the blue for me but I was delighted! – and proposed with what he called a “stand in” ring, assuming I’d want to choose my own, but it’s perfect and I adore it so I’ve kept it just as it is, although when I get the wedding band made to go with it, we will add some more tiny diamonds around the outside. It’s an opal and it’s a gorgeous one, set in yellow gold.

Beautiful! The sapphire is really unusual. Mine is opal too, with moissanite stones. It's silver because it's the only metal that I know I don't react to. Made by a lovely seller on Etsy

Well I tried but I need both hands to photo it on the iPad 🤣🤣🤣
but I’ve changed my username for you 😆

I don't have one, nor do I have a wedding ring - as dh refused to wear a ring I did too. He wasn't too happy about it but I'm afraid I just shrugged "I will if you will maty-pie". So no rings. It's a slight shame as we could have sold them and paid for house repairs if we had had them.

Jux · 22/02/2025 13:42

Oh, and almost everyone thinks we're not actually married simply because I don't wear a ring. Idiotic.

Cuppachuchu · 22/02/2025 13:49

Some beautiful rings here.
I always thought that opals (and pearls) were too soft for engagement rings? 🤔

user1471548941 · 22/02/2025 14:10

Pre and post wedding band!

It's a pear 0.8 carat diamond with a halo, so 1 carat total. We had a very special day out to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham to design it together, which is one of my favourite memories.

I very definitely wanted the plain bands so that diamond stood out. 5 years on, it's still super sparkly and I get lots of compliments on it!

Mine was quite fashionable back in its day (mid 2000s), not so much now but I still love it.
Currently on the search for an eternity ring to match.

yes you are not supposed to get opals wet so only for occasional use
also silver will not stand up to everyday wear

I love a ring thread! Beautiful choices on here. This is my stack, we had our wedding bands made, and mine was designed to fit the shape of my engagement ring. Then my husband gave me the eternity ring for Christmas 2 years ago, it was a very pleasant surprise!

That's lovely. Sapphires are beautiful, and almost as hard as diamonds, so good for everyday wear. I love the simplicity of the cut too; very elegant.

Newbie8918 · 22/02/2025 14:46

Here is mine. I'd have never chosen a split band but I now love it!

Beautiful ring OP!!!!

Oh your opal is so lovely OP! That might be the nicest engagement ring I've ever seen. Congratulations!
I won't post a photo of mine because of privacy. But I do wear a massive black opal on my other hand!

It's Australian opal so fine in water and can crack if they get too dry. I will be taking it off at night and when doing anything very manual. I know silver isn't as hard as other metals but I have silver rings that I've worn daily for years and are still good. It's all about how you care for your jewellery

Amazing! I love opals, they're such an interesting and unique stone. Thank you

Trying to get a decent photo made me realize how overdue my rings are for a decent clean 🙈. My engagement ring is also too large for me but it's already a replacement for the original which became too tight after DS was born. The old one is still too small so I'll have to get this one taken in but I'm waiting to see if my weight loss sticks!

I love opals! There are so many gorgeous rings here.

Mine is an Art Deco diamond cluster from the 1920s. DH actually proposed with his late mother's amethyst eternity ring so we went shopping together afterwards and I fell in love with this from an online antique shop on eBay of all places!

Lovely ring OP, very unique and elegant!

Here's mine which I'm still in love with 10 years later. Excuse the dry hands!
