Hello,

Can anyone give examples of female celebrities who are growing old naturally, ie not using Botox, fillers, and everything else?

It's for a talk I'm giving to teenage girls on body positivity!

I only have Pamela Anderson so far.

All we know from "looks very natural" is that if that person has had any work, they have resisted the temptation to go overboard.

Also, you can make choices that maintain the natural look. I have grey hair and loads of lines around my eyes, but I get very small amounts of lip filler once a year (they got REALLY thin in my late 40's). You'd never know to look at me that I've had "work" but it's just that I've been very secretive/subtle about it!

Some people are just blessed too. Kate Winslet (outspoken about not having any work done) doesn't seem to have lost much/any collagen in her lips, and has hardly any lines around her eyes etc. Good genes make this kind of decision much easier!

Maybe show them some examples of people that have had too much, you shouldn't struggle for images of that, and ask them to think about why they might have done it, what's driving the need for it, who is it for really?

Where does it come from? Who's gaze are we pandering to when women chop their neck skin off and tie it up behind their ears when they hit 47?
L
oads of examples of how the expectations of women's bodies, faces and hair has changed over the decades and centuries, despite the fact that we have remained more or less physiologically the same throughout.

Give them a bit of perspective that this phase of Instagram influencer botox hair extensions and fillers with huge kardashian buttocks is just the current thing, the same as painting one's face with toxic white paste, wearing a powdered wig and drawing on beauty spots, and pulling in your ribs with a corset so tight you were unable to do much and fainted if you tried, and the same Kardashian buttocks would have seen you not wanting to leave the house for ridicule a couple of generations ago.

If you want to get really down in there you could look at how the patriarchy informs female body standards, but you might just want some photos of Jamie Lee Curtis lately.

Yeah there are a couple of good Horrible Histories songs/sketches about this, including one about eighteenth-century people wearing cheek pads inside their mouths to make their faces look fuller!

I’ve seen Emilia Clarke from GOTs receive some cruel comments about her (beautiful) aging look. Same with Emma Watson. Not sure if they have caved now though.

I also saw a video of Lauren Hill recently. She’s 49, looks incredible and doesn’t appear to have had any work done.

Don't forget teenage girls do not all look like super models. Some do, but I doubt any of them think they do.

I think looking at women who were incredibly beautiful as young women and that is how they got their careers isn't a great start for body positivity.

Mary Berry would be interesting, I bet no teen has ever noticed her smaller hand.

Katie Piper, I know she is not old but she is remarkable.

Amanda Redman has not let her scarred arm limit her.

Sinkintotheswamp · 10/02/2025 12:18

Deborah Meaden is the only one I can think of that has possibly had nothing (much). She looks great and fresh.

Even the Queen has had some excellent subtle work over the years.

I'd like to know what Gwen Stefani has had done!

Everything!

Whiskeyandkittens · 10/02/2025 12:23

Sigourney Weaver?

Redcrayons · 10/02/2025 12:23

Maybe because she has been out of the public eye for a while, but I was surprised to see Cameron Diaz looking older on Graham Norton a couple of weeks ago. It’s really refreshing to see a woman my age not looking like she’s 25.

inchargeofnothing · 10/02/2025 12:23

Victoria Coren Mitchell looks beautiful and no where near her age. Perhaps the upside of not being very thin. Also Kirstie Allsopp, Nigella Lawson and the lovely Lucy Worsley.

WildCats24 · 10/02/2025 12:30

Drew Barrymore

Shwish · 10/02/2025 12:31

Juliette Lewis

ClaireEclair · 10/02/2025 12:35

Alicia Keys stopped wearing makeup for a while but I think she started again. The girls from the band L7 all look fab and are approaching 60. Susanna Hoffs but I don’t think she’s a very good example as she’s ridiculously beautiful.

I've mentioned on a few Beauty/Health threads that for many years I worked as a nurse in a major London private hospital.

As a rule of thumb if a celebrity of certain years is looking good then you can be almost certain that they've had work done - and why not if they can afford it.

I have no knowledge of anyone named so far on the thread but believe me I know of any number of famous names, starlets and A-listers alike, who've had work done - not a bit of filler/Botox but major stuff like face and neck lifts.

Celebrities are not a special breed of human - they age just the same as the rest of us!

But we all age differently, anyway, and celebrities usually start off with at the very least good bone structure.

MissRoseDurward · 10/02/2025 12:43

The late Queen.

polinkhausive · 10/02/2025 12:44

Sarah Jessica Parker certainly hasn't had loads done, obviously maybe very subtle work

Kate Middleton has had loads done, it's pretty obvious, surprised by that suggestion. She might have taken a pause recently due to chemo but I would guess as soon as she can, she will be back on it

Pamela Anderson??! She doesn’t wear a lot of make up but she’s had work done.

NovemberMorn · 10/02/2025 12:48

The late Audrey Hepburn.
She died in her 60's her face looked untouched by surgery, she had aged appropriately, had lines and wrinkles, and still looked incredibly beautiful.

OnLockdown · 10/02/2025 12:51

Jodie Foster
Anette Bening
Linda Cardellini

I thought only her Botox was obvious, and subtle lip filler (which was a good idea as she had no top lip).

FKAT · 10/02/2025 12:52

I opened this thread thinking "I bet the first few names are women who have obviously had work done" and I wasn't disappointed. Lisa Kudrow was very up front about the nose job she had before Friends. I mean Pamela Anderson? For real? The famous boob job & collagen lipped Pamela Anderson?
