Hello,

Can anyone give examples of female celebrities who are growing old naturally, ie not using Botox, fillers, and everything else?

It's for a talk I'm giving to teenage girls on body positivity!

I only have Pamela Anderson so far.

Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore claim to be aging naturally. You can never quite believe celebrities when they say this but I do think they both look very natural so maybe it is true…

Helen Mirren does look great but has had at least one facelift - I remember seeing pictures in the media a few years ago where she had a scarf around her head and they claimed she was just post surgery. When they asked her she didn’t confirm or deny it. If true, it was great work imo

Cher? Nicole Kidman? Just joking.....

Joanna Lumley clearly has had work done. Any woman in her 60's/70's with a firm jawline has had a lower facelift at least.

I agree Deborah Meadon seems natural. Judy (of Richard & Judy) looks natural but not seen in public now. I'm trying to think of the name of that older model who looks great with her grey hair and high cheekbones.

There's a tremendous pressure on some of these female celebs to maintain their looks, hold back the hands of time and lie about work they've had done.

There is no way that Julia Roberts has not had a bit of Botox . As for her ads she is so heavily filtered in those.

Sofia Vergara

She’s honest about the fact she has Botox.

Pamela Anderson has fillers that are still present in her face even if she hasn’t had injections for years or whatever she says.

Gillian Anderson
Kate Winslet

Gillian Anderson has had some cosmetic surgery in the 90s I think, and she clearly has had procedures more recently, including Botox and some minor stuff, even if not fillers etc. Sometimes she looks natural and more like her age, and sometimes her face is quite stretched/Botoxed/has clearly had something done to it. It’s a shame as she is very attractive without all that. She looks like she had a breast augmentation at some point in the 2000s, too.

Kate Winslet looks pretty natural, as far as I can tell?

I read that Julia Roberts had tried botox once but didn't like the results so doesn't have it now.

Isabella Rossellini

I'd say Kate Winslet hasn't. She looks amazing but natural.

Kristin Scott Thomas

I was struck by Keira Knightley in Black Doves and how she has embraced ageing. She has a lined forehead and decidedly unhollywood smile, but is still beautiful.

DelphiniumBlue · 10/02/2025 11:48

Annie Lennox?

Frankly, I don't think we can ever know for sure who has had cosmetic procedures, if the work is subtle.

This.

blobby10 · 10/02/2025 11:50

I don't think Keeley Hawes has had anything done - I do love her style!

Togglebullets · 10/02/2025 11:50

Kirsten Dunst certainly looked natural in Civil War. I feel like Julia Stiles did too in Riviera

KylieKangaroo · 10/02/2025 11:54

I'd like to know what Gwen Stefani has had done!

Gervhill · 10/02/2025 11:55

Sofia Vergara as an example has cracked me up 😂

I was going to jokingly suggest Sharon Osbourne, interviewed on tv last weekend.

If there were ever a need to dissuade someone, let her see Sharon. Sadly, she looks like a Thunderbird.

neverthelastone · 10/02/2025 11:59

I had a bit of Botox in my thirties, before I had a baby and waved goodbye to both my disposable income and my “give a f**s” (as Sabrina Carpenter would say 😆)

Apparently it just stops working for some people - the time it lasts reduces each time anyway, but some people’s bodies become more immune to it than others. So not having it may not be an active choice IYSWIM!

canyouletthedogoutplease · 10/02/2025 12:04

Maybe show them some examples of people that have had too much, you shouldn't struggle for images of that, and ask them to think about why they might have done it, what's driving the need for it, who is it for really?

Where does it come from? Who's gaze are we pandering to when women chop their neck skin off and tie it up behind their ears when they hit 47?
L
oads of examples of how the expectations of women's bodies, faces and hair has changed over the decades and centuries, despite the fact that we have remained more or less physiologically the same throughout.

Give them a bit of perspective that this phase of Instagram influencer botox hair extensions and fillers with huge kardashian buttocks is just the current thing, the same as painting one's face with toxic white paste, wearing a powdered wig and drawing on beauty spots, and pulling in your ribs with a corset so tight you were unable to do much and fainted if you tried, and the same Kardashian buttocks would have seen you not wanting to leave the house for ridicule a couple of generations ago.

If you want to get really down in there you could look at how the patriarchy informs female body standards, but you might just want some photos of Jamie Lee Curtis lately.

Mary Berry, Miriam Margolys, Sandi Toksvig

None of these pupils are going to know who you are talking about though? My nieces in their early twenties would be hard pushed to know more that Kate Winslet (cos of titanic) and Gloria from Modern Family.

Catsarelovely · 10/02/2025 12:06

I was really impressed to see Keira Knightly lookong so natural in Black Doves. She's still as gorgeous as ever but looks like a normal woman in her late 30's. So refreshing to see that for a change.
