PJ tops that aren’t indecent

Feels like unicorn poo - so suggestions welcome.

Wish list is - not going to traumatise anyone wearing around adult brother / parents.

  • Not button up (incompatible with boobs)
  • comes in 18 / proper XL
  • not see through
  • fully covers boob and stomach (so not cropped or low cut)
  • material thick enough that doesn’t highlight every subtle feature of nipple and aureola
  • sleeves - long sleeves, or if short then nearer elbow than armpit.

Help!

Another vote for TU at sainsburys. I’ve got lovely PJS from there, thick material, full length arms and legs, wash well.

Octavia64 · 24/01/2025 09:13

I love the primark ones.

Size 18 gives XL or xXL in their sizing.

They do some lovely fluffy winter ones as well as standard cotton ones.

Doggymummar · 24/01/2025 09:59

I have John Lewis everyday pyjamas I bought with a voucher from work at Christmas. Really thick cotton. I wear a bra lette underneath as I have HH boobs and dont go loose.

I also have sets from Marks and Spencer the £12 ones they do are great as well thick cotton. Short ones in summer and long for winter

My Christmas ones, which I wear all winter are tartan fleece from Amazon and not at all see through.

I had such high hopes for Seasalt.

but they’re grandpa button top that was perfect night 1 then did a un button as I rolled over night 2. 😩

If you get a needle & thread and stich up the button hole with a few stitches the buttons will stay in the hole.

But surely a long sleeve tshirt would tick all your boxes?

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/01/2025 10:19

I wear "long vest dresses" from Primark to bed - I don't really like sleeves when I sleep unless its super cold.
They aren't really dresses as they just cover my bum, but they are long vest tops, snug enough for a bit of boob support.

Gettingbysomehow · 24/01/2025 10:28

I wear oversized teashirts and Sainsburys pyjama bottoms with a dressing gown over the top.
TikTok shop have loads of full coverage pyjamas too.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 24/01/2025 10:37

Fat face Henley tops aren't too thin and flow so not too clingy.

I find Sainsbury's button up pyjamas fit well - I was a size 18 and true to size with 38GG boobs.

PearlClutzsche · 24/01/2025 10:58

I’ve started wearing a crop top under my pjs to cover and control swinging, untethered, uneven, and generously benippled boobs. This is because DD has moved back home temporarily and her boyfriend is always around and stays over often!

Pyjama designers certainly don’t think enough about modesty or boob/nipple coverage.

denhaag · 24/01/2025 11:10

I understand wanting boobs to be covered, warm and comfortable, but I don't understand the problem with nipples being visible in pyjamas around your own home with your family?

I wouldn't want nipples visible around my dad/cousins/uncle etc

Henley style goes up to 24

I bought 2 maybe 5 years ago and still going strong, so can’t say if they’ve changed them recently.

I bought some recently. They’re great, I think they fit OPs bill pretty well.

JaninaDuszejko · 24/01/2025 11:21

Dd1 is 17 and wears proper flannel pyjama bottoms with pockets then wears normal cotton tshirts on top (with a hoddie when she's walking round the house). Best time to buy pyjama bottoms is the run up to Christmas. The tshirts are usually slogan tshirts (I got an excellent Christmas Tree Farm tshirt from redbubble this year that made me no1 Mum in her eyes).

Also I don't want cartoon characters on my pjs. I am not 5

This is such a bugbear of mine! Do adult women really want PJs and tops that look like little girls’ clothes? Men’s clothes aren’t designed like they’re for little boys!
OP I have bought some decent PJs from Asda. Dark colours are best for modesty.

Not bothered about my DH or daughters, but my DS, DD’s partners and my DSF would, I’m sure, rather not be subject to my ancient swinging nipply bosoms.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 24/01/2025 11:44

@ScaryM0nster I have the modal ones. I don’t have any problems with them myself.Hope you find something.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/01/2025 11:51

I have a pair of these that are great, very comfy. https://www.uniqlo.com/eu-ie/en/products/E472849-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=004 Other pyjamas are all men's from places like Lands' End, I often just buy pyjama bottoms and regular daywear henley tops. I find that women's pyjamas are generally prettiness over quality.

Anorak jersey pjs. anorakonline.co.uk/collections/womens-loungewear-nightwear/products/lobsters-organic-jersey-pj-set-green-pink

They aren't cheap but excellent, thick fabric. I'm a size 16-18 and I wear an xl. There's an xxl too. Long sleeved, v neck. Suitable length and cuffed so they don't ride up in your sleep. I have 3 pairs... gotten a couple of mine almost half price in a sale at some point. Had one pair for 2 years and they are a bit faded from washing but no holes or anything.

I'm fine with my DS's seeing my nipples in pjs. Mine are not ancient (well, I'm 54, is that ancient?) and def not swinging. Anyway, don't want to derail the thread.

I’ve recently been on a pj hunt and these were winners.

I also have the v-neck version. My boobs are notorious for button-popping but the poppers on these are either very strong or not really poppers (I haven’t checked) as they’ve never burst open.

This exactly!! I am 40 and don't want to wear Disney nightwear, but also don't want to wear nightwear designed for an 80 year old 😂 And don't get me started on the sexy satin nightwear in this freezing weather lol 😂

Oceangrey · 24/01/2025 12:16

I don't really understand because I'm a J cup and find button up pyjamas fine.
I have some from Jigsaw, Toast, H&M.
Not every one will fit but plenty do.

battairzeedurgzome · 24/01/2025 12:23

A proper dressing gown is the answer, ideally waffle cotton so it's not too thick and bulky.
