In my minds eye it looked cool but I’m not convinced.

just wanted to try something a bit different.

Maybe? 🤔

Love this!

I do have tan boots and I can change the tights. I have a few blouses so I’ll look through them and find one that works.

thank you all so much. I love the honest opinions on s&b.

How about with a long sleeved bodysuit?

Edit: so I think what's slightly off is the formality, the shorts have a pinstripe suit air about them, cardigan and tights are also slightly formal in general. So maybe something with a bit of lace or frills, e.g. a silk Sezane blouse tucked in would act as a foil to the relative formality of the shorts?

Edited

But risks becoming a bit pantomime principal boy, perhaps?

JustPickleRick · 04/01/2025 16:54

I think the shorts would look great with that blouse above and some beige cable knit tights/beige long boots.

Randomontheinternet25 · 04/01/2025 18:18

You have an enviable figure, but those shorts are not great for you (imo) there's too much material and look a bit like a skort or school uniform.
The knee high boots are very wide & flappy on your legs I can't picture what they would work with.
I think navy & black can work together but not in this outfit.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 04/01/2025 18:19

Please ignore the nonsense about you can't wear navy tights with black boots. You can and black footwear and navy tights are fine.

The knee boots are terrible. They look like wellingtons. The DMs and Chelsea boots are fine.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 04/01/2025 18:23

I know everyone loves Sezanne on here but to my eyes that blouse is such a cliché.

I don't think anybody has said that you can't - just expressed an opinion that they think black would look better.

Doggymummar · 04/01/2025 18:25

It's all a bit school uniform together. Individually I like it all except the wellies. I think knee boots should be fitted, I don't like the loose look. Even on super models ( or especially). The shorts would be great with nude fishnets I reckon, but that's my inner Goth coming out.

LoafofSellotape · 04/01/2025 18:33

changecandles · 04/01/2025 14:56

Almost. I think the shorts are too poofy. Or maybe too long. Something is not right. But the general idea could work

Yes the shorts are the wrong shape. It's nearly right .

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 04/01/2025 18:37

Black tights wouldn't look better. Black tights would be ok, but navy are better. Other coloured opaque tights would work too- although not sure about beige which some one suggested.

Bare legs and fishnets aren't right. The shorts are too formal and tailored for the gothy look for fishnets. Bare legs in winter look daft.

ohpoowhatnow · 04/01/2025 18:42

Sorry this looks awful

Beige would be hideous.

Fishnets would be silly.

My opinion is that black would be better. Your opinion is the navy would be better. They're just opinions, so there isn't a right or wrong here.

We agree on the bare legs - so clearly that makes us both right!

Emanwenym · 04/01/2025 18:48

All the boots work but the long boots are a bit welly-like and the DM derbys are better than the chelseas.

The shorts are OK but only because you are tall with a good figure. The pleats and the divided legs would be better as one or the other.
You could wear them for work if you have a fairly relaxed dress code.

cantthinkofausername26 · 04/01/2025 18:49

Much better with dm's. The knee high's look dated. But I think your shorts are too big. A size smaller would sit higher at your waist and look less frumpy

I'm be done my best to shorten and depoof the shorts without changing your body.

Can you have the shorts altered

100% better!

Fizzy208 · 04/01/2025 18:52

I love the tall boots and wide shorts!! It looks so chic. I think the high boots look way more cool than lower boots/DMs, that’s more of a grungy look.

I think the thing that doesn’t look right is the grey cardi, I think something more form fitting and in black would look good!

soupfiend · 04/01/2025 18:57

I really like the shorts, very 80s and I think you look great but the boots on page 1 are not working, havent read the rest of the thread yet.

I agree , I think more tailored/ formal shorts and DMs eoukd look good

That said with pins like yours I think you'd look good in a binbag ! They are a great shape .

Wellineverdidbuy · 04/01/2025 19:02

DM's look fab
Navy tights look fab
Your legs are fab
I'd go for a tartan kilt similar length to the shorts or smaller shorts

MulberryPeony · 04/01/2025 19:38

Could they work more like this?
