Does this boot/shorts combo work?

what do you think of these together?

In my minds eye it looked cool but I’m not convinced.

just wanted to try something a bit different.

agree with this. But the boots are better with shorts.

It’s the light grey cardi that’s the problem, I think. A navy jumper over a white shirt with the collar out would be more streamlined. I like the shorts with the DMs.

I think the shorts would look good with tights and heavier loafers. But the long boots aren’t my personal favourite.

You should try a tall tight boot with loose shorts like that. One of your options work with the shorts unfortunately

It's so funny you have posted this, I've just had a very similar issue with a woollen kilt and boots combo that should have been great but something was off about it. I think the grey cardigan is not quite compatible in the first outfit, but I'd be hard pressed to pinpoint exactly why. Love the boots.

I quite liked the short boots with the shorts but the shorts look too big for you . If you look at the waist line it looks like you are having to tuck your jumper in to keep them up .

Shorts too wide

Noooo I love the shorts!! I would absolutely wear those and they look the right size to me, they are supposed to be oversized ish. They're cool and look effortless.

The second pair of boots look best. First and last no. Just experiment with different shoes, I really like the shorts.

Looks weird with tights. Not a fan of tights in general, but accept not everyone would go bare legged in winter.

Not for me. I'd go with a fitted ankle boot with those.

Also you have great legs, but I honestly don't think those shorts are doing anything for you. That fabric/style would look better on you in a more fitted and less fussy pair of shorts, or as a mini skirt.

The shorts sit too low on you I think. If they were nipped in at your waist they’d look better. Def try a smaller size.

I think bare legged would look awful. Maybe slightly more sheer black tights?

At 5ft 10" with those legs, you'd look good in anything! Wear whatever takes your fancy.

I love the shorts, however i would wear a more fitted top because you have the figure to pull it off. Nice ankle boots with a heel would look good with it. Thumbs up from me

The top, shorts and tights look fab but the boots are wrong. I would say you need more fitted boots, maybe in suede rather than leather.

Oooh, I’m not sure. I think it all looks a bit school-uniformy, especially with navy tights. I’m a similar height to you and I’ve always felt I can’t do the shorts and tights thing. Too much leg dangling out somehow? Although I think a short skirt and black tights would look good, so maybe I’m just funny about shorts.

How about with a long sleeved bodysuit?

Edit: so I think what's slightly off is the formality, the shorts have a pinstripe suit air about them, cardigan and tights are also slightly formal in general. So maybe something with a bit of lace or frills, e.g. a silk Sezane blouse tucked in would act as a foil to the relative formality of the shorts?

Meant to add, a tan boot would go better with navy.

I think you have the figure for a shorter skirt rather than bulky shorts.
