Is there something that just lifts the appearance of your skin a little

I usually wear makeup at home and work (Trinny London or Laura Geller Baked) but recently I've been using a rose oil and I've not really felt like I wanted to apply makeup, as my skin looks pretty nice without, miraculously. A bit of eyeliner or tinted lip sometimes. And also I worry that my makeup looks a bit overdone or badly done sometimes because I throw it on and have bad eyesight! However, when I am back at work, by the end of a work day I will no doubt look pale, puffy and blotchy, not helped by currently growing out my grey hair. Although I don't much care about it, I need to look neat and professional for work and too haggard Is unhelpful. Is there something that I could just apply mid afternoon for a bit of glow and moisturisation? I guess I could use the Trinny bff primer but it doesn't do much for me. The oil doesn't look good instantly, unfortunately, but does when used daily. Would love some ideas to try.

Jones Road miracle glow ( or might be balm) is amazing. It looks pink and a bit shimmery in the container. The first time I wore it I thought it didn’t make any difference but now I think it just makes me look really naturally great. I wear it to the gym or sometimes just a tiny bit on my lips, I wear it over make up too. Bobbi Brown talks about it a lot on instagram if you need more detail, for me it feels very right for now.

La Roche-Posay anthelios tinted sunscreen if you had to pick one product for an easy win.

Is this the right one?

This does look lovely @BeautyBlanche mentioned it up thread too, I'm seriously tempted, just can't decide which shade to get. And my list is very long thanks to this thread!

I tried this (dry skin) and feel like I'm the only person in the world who REALLY didn't like it!

I hear you! I didn’t like it much at first but think I was slathering too much on? You only need a little and you have to dig into the product not take it from the top. This kills me as I like to keep my balms neat and smooth, now I have to put up with a big dent in the middle!

there’s a quiz to help you choose a shade or you can email a pic of you in natural light with no makeup and they’ll help advise.

I have au natural as I don’t like too much colour but want to get one with a bit more obvious colour next. Au natural makes me feel like a movie star, it has that very “now” luminous sheen! They’re on offer atm at Liberty but I think only in the large size. PS I don’t work for them guv! Grin

GreyAreas · 04/01/2025 22:01

I like the look of the au natural - presume I can be more slapdash in how I apply, thanks have ordered some

I find a self tanner works for this. As the glow of the morning products wears off, the self tanner kicks in by the afternoon.

I have never had one make my face too dark as the cleansing seems to get it all off so I’m starting from scratch each day.

You sound like me! I have appalling eyesight! I must go somewhere to get my eyebrows done again. I try pencilling in but end up with one thick eyebrow and one thin one! My eyeliner could have been scrawled on by a small child etc etc!

The Jones Road stuff looks basically like Vaseline to me! I think it's just excellent marketing, I guess if you have dry skin it could work but on combo I think it would look like I've smeared lip balm all over myself

PeachyKeane · 05/01/2025 22:46

I have a cheap dupe of it by Revolution. Was £5. Actually I love it.

Just received my Erborian CC cream. Does it go under foundation or is it instead of? Under or over moisturiser?

I wear it instead of foundation. I wouldnt wear both but if you did I would do eborian first

Thankyou to those suggesting tan drops in moisturiser.
I actually went to work today for the first time in yonks without foundation! I look really healthy . It was noted by a few people who commented that I looked well !

greengreyblue · 07/01/2025 07:52

Retinol at night, Vit c and Niacinimide before moisturiser in the morning .

What product is this @PeachyKeane ?

GreyAreas · 11/01/2025 16:33

I do like the Jones Road Au Natural very much, just the job, so I am going to try the dupe too for more of a blush.

Inspired by this thread I bought Barefaced facial oil and it's fantastic!

I'm buying the Jones Road dupe

In what way?

Gatecrashermum · 12/01/2025 00:06

It's moisturising but not heavy (I have combination skin).

I can wear in the morning under moisturiser then erborian cream and it makes my skin have a nicer texture - very soft and glowy (tbf as with any good facial oil).

Not caused any breakouts which is a risk for me with formulations which are too heavy

Elf, Halo Glow

late to this thread but is there a knack to using this? I have a bottle but not quite sure where and how to use it!

Glad to hear it... does it look different just putting lip balm or Vaseline on?!

GreyAreas · 12/01/2025 17:06

I actually put vaseline on my cheeks instead yesterday as a comparison @arrigatto 😂 just to be thorough and evidence based! and it did absolutely nothing didn't stay and felt horrible.

It's really hard to describe (not shiny, not matt, not highlighted, not covered) just kind of moisturised, luminous, smooth, even. Sounds like some people don't like the feel and don't notice any effect though.

Haha I appreciate the science!! I spent a while looking at the revolution dupe online today and concluded it would be too shiny for me. Maybe I need to find a place to try the Jones Road
