I have set up a new Toastie thread, guys.

@IlovePond which clogs were you thinking of?

triggers34 · 03/01/2025 18:00

Thank-you I was worried it would be too long but it's perfect and wasn't reduced further but looks similar to another dress that's now £70. I'm also tempted by the brown cashmere cardigan not reduced to go with it....

Countmeout · 03/01/2025 18:08

I have the other dress in that fabric. I ordered it in the last but one sale but my size was too small in the bust so I bought the next size on eBay. It’s a bit big 🙄 but it’s lovely material. I like it with that cardigan @triggers34 .

Poplinskirt · 03/01/2025 18:12

@BettinaInDenmark The silk one, saw it in the flesh and its absolutely gorgeous.

I've found the viscose crepe ones come up large so I take a 10 and it's still roomy.
I measured one of my Gias and the silk one is the same so I ordered a 10.
The issue for some is the cuff which a few people found tight.

I would only dry clean wool coats at the end of the season to store or wool trousers,,mainly to retain the shape .
I sold my Judes as they were too big.

When I worked in London things were labelled dry clean as people would chuck them in a hot wash and try to return saying they were faulty!

IlovePond · 03/01/2025 18:13

The black ones @faustina . I tried them on in-store last year but the dye transfer was awful.

@triggers34 you’ll need to email Toast (or on Chat) and ask for the refund

ScottishMouse · 03/01/2025 18:52

No toast parcels here today. Two were due, but one went to the wrong delivery office so got rerouted, and the postie never showed with the other one. Maybe tomorrow.

ScottishMouse · 03/01/2025 19:53

And I’ve now added one more order to the backlog of parcels to arrive at my house. Your (or someone else’s) blue Minako trousers arrived back in small @faustina, so I grabbed them quick!

faustina · 03/01/2025 20:18

@ScottishMouse - hope you love them as much as I do mine!

Stravaig · 03/01/2025 20:34

Sooo many baubles left in the sale :D

faustina · 03/01/2025 11:54

I will dry clean coats, but that's my limit. If I see anything else that's dry clean only I won't buy it. There was a shocking pair of the cotton wool seersucker alixes on Vinted recently. They are dry clean only but the seller hadn't noticed, or had forgotten. She was modelling them in the listing and they came to just below her knees - like long shorts!

I saw someone mention Johnston's of Elgin last night (eye wateringly high prices but lovely cashmere). There's a brand called Nearly New Cashmere, and I can't recommend their preloved (very hit and miss), but they do sell some 'new Scottish cashmere' and I think that's all Johnston's of Elgin except they can't say it is. I bought a cashmere dressing gown - brand new, label still attached, for £120 last year and it is the warmest thing ever!

Edited

Ohh thank you for the tip. I mentioned Johnston's - despite it being out of my price range I do live to browse!

PrincessofWells · 04/01/2025 11:24

So yesterday morning I was going out for coffee so put on the Jessa dungarees and have decided to return them. I couldn't work out what was wrong for a while so put on my denim ones also Toast to compare. The bib is too wide and obscures my waist so I look larger than I am. The bib also doesn't sit flat and because the bib is so wide the straps aren't quite sitting in a flattering position, so they're going back. I'm so pleased I didn't wear them out . . ..

Anyway I'm going to try and shop my wardrobe for the year and be very discerning if I do buy stuff 🤔

ScottishMouse · 04/01/2025 13:58

Really hoping my 4(!) Toast parcels due turn up today, my postie hasn’t been down my street since Monday now. Not super hopeful he’s coming today either as he would normally have been by this time on a Saturday. There must be a huge post-Christmas backlog.
I’d really like to get any returns done quickly, I hate all my credit card payments being in limbo for this long.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/01/2025 14:09

That’s shocking @ScottishMouse deliveries were never that bad when I lived in Fife. I’m in rural Norfolk now and my postie delivers every day, apart from Sunday, usually before 10am.

Netcam · 04/01/2025 14:16

@PrincessofWells, good idea, it's pointless buying something you're not sure about as you probably won't wear it much. I'm on for 2025 wardrobe shopping only.

ScottishMouse · 04/01/2025 14:25

It’s never been like this before @Theteapotsbrokenspout, quite odd. Yesterday I had two parcels that said they were out for delivery, but the postie just never showed. I have known many other courier companies to do this, but never RM. 🤷‍♀️

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/01/2025 14:27

DH is away so I’ve been trying on a few of my recent purchases. I’ve decided I love the Herringbone jumpsuit and I’ve found the best way to get in and out of it. The Minako cotton linen trousers have gone back and I’m not bothering to get a bigger size.
I've also been through my wardrobe and identified a few pieces I don’t really wear so I may sell some things to make some space. But I really must stop buying shoes and boots, I love every pair but cannot believe how many I’ve got.

ScottishMouse · 04/01/2025 14:27

I mean, in a way it doesn’t matter when he shows up, as I have worn nothing but joggers or pjs since before Christmas 😆 It’s not like I need new clothes to wear at the moment.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/01/2025 14:30

😁But that’s not really the point @ScottishMouse . Actually it’s the same where my sister lives in Kent, not at all rural and she’s lucky if the postman comes once a week.

VivienneDelacroix · 04/01/2025 14:31

That dress looks gorgeous on you @triggers34

I've been wearing the same Poetry linen/wool trousers and Croft House wool jumper that I got for Christmas from DH since Xmas day. And a big Celtic and Co wool/silk/alpaca cardigan on top. With wool leggings underneath and a wool long sleeved base layer top, although I've changed top a couple of times.

Thinking I might select a different outfit for going back to work on Monday! Although they're so warm.

Countmeout · 04/01/2025 14:52

My returns have been refunded today. Just one outstanding @ScottishMouse so hopefully the same for you. I posted them on New Year’s Eve.

ScottishMouse · 04/01/2025 14:57

I sent one parcel back and it was refunded quickly @Countmeout. I just need the rest of them to actually show up so I can get returns sent back as soon as possible.

faustina · 04/01/2025 15:06

I've had one refund so far, and am waiting for two more deliveries. that is rubbish about your non-service from Royal Mail. Do you happen to live in an area with lots of business addresses? DS2 lives in Oxford in an area like that and he's convinced they get a bad service because the business section is prioritised over residential

triggers34 · 04/01/2025 15:18

VivienneDelacroix · 04/01/2025 14:31

That dress looks gorgeous on you @triggers34

Thank-you . I was all set to wear it today dd2 said I looked like a Victorian circus act in a good way she added . I changed my mind due to how cold it is.

My final sale item arrived - green Selma - I love it - it's a 16 quite roomy but as they're all sold out now I shall keep it.
Pictured green Selma and brown one from the sale last year which I've worn so much .
