* Please avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance. * (Edited at request of the OP by MNHQ)

It is one sleep away! We’ve all been very patient, since Liberty London revealed their advent calendar in June this year.

Reveals from 7am GMT each morning please. This is to harmonise discussion/shift work/different time zones.

Now that I have a sense of smell back, thanks Statins for taking that away! I am looking forward to trying this one.

emmab16 · 01/12/2024 10:51

I love the perfume ❤️

Caramelandsalt · 01/12/2024 10:58

I'm very happy with the perfume, a promising start from both my Liberty and JL

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/12/2024 11:26

I really like Ianthe Oud. It was very powdery parma violet on me at first spray, but now it's had time to settle down the mimosa has really come out.
It smells lush!
I've had to hide it from teenage DD as she asked if she could have it!

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2024 11:40

I have to say, I was expecting it to be a bit longer-lasting. It's been about 3 hours now and I only get the slightest hint.

imp2007 · 01/12/2024 12:46

I loved the rose one from last year too - think it was probably my favourite item - liked that it was a rollerball too!!! I'm not sure about today's not really my usual fragrance but will see how it goes as it settles down - nice to try something a bit different.

TriciaMcMillan · 01/12/2024 12:47

It's a win for me, and a strong start! I really like the Liberty fragrances and this is no exception. Not quite as good as Maze, which is my favourite LBTY scent, but still good. Roll on tomorrow!

I had the calendar last year - wasn’t convinced it was worth the money. So I’m just buying stuff off Vinted that I like. Just got today’s perfume for six quid.

Gently, and obviously it's your call how you choose to post, but I'd prefer it if this thread wasn't peppered with comments like this.

Clearly, this thread is for those of who did buy this year's calendar, or were gifted it and therefore are excited and looking forward to opening.

It's rather like going to a film at the cinema and loudly proclaiming you didn't like the last one and have actually already got it downloaded for cheap at home. Seems like poor form.

nearly61 · 01/12/2024 13:22

I agree- this thread is really all about excitement and trying new things so, even if I’m not keen on everything, I can honestly say the experience of opening each drawer in the morning and discovering and trying the products is wonderful and not based really on whether or not the items are perfect for me. Let’s keep the magic of advent opening going!

Coalplay · 01/12/2024 14:03

Come on, we aren’t children.
on any thread if people choose to spend £200 on something somebody else is allowed to say they did didn’t find it was value for money.

It's not about being children. This is a thread with the express purpose of people sharing their excitement and thoughts while opening the 2024 Liberty advent. It's really is a bit off to post simply to say you that you didn't buy one and don't think it's worth it. But I'll not derail further. You're free to post what you want. Crack on.

Of course you can rain on people's parade if you want to. It's just not a very nice thing to do...

Yeah if you didn't buy it because you felt it wasn't good value for you then that's fine . I just don't want to hear it . No need to post to say you bought the perfume for £6 . I for one aren't interested.

Peridot1 · 01/12/2024 15:23

We might not be children @Coalplay but I have to agree with others that it does leave me feeling a bit flat to read comments like your earlier one. I stopped reading the main Beauty Advent Calendar threads for similar reasons. I made my decision and bought the Liberty calendar and I wanted to look forward to it with anticipation and not read about people thinking it was rubbish compared to previous years or that they’d bought it and sold on half of it already etc. It may seem childish to you but it does dampen things a bit for some of us and I’m glad to read I’m not the only one.

Maybe there is a place for a thread for people who want to just buy bits and pieces on Vinted or whatever.

Waffles21 · 01/12/2024 15:35

Another one here who agrees @Coalplay you're entitled to your opinions but your comments do seem unecessary. We’re all excited so by all means join in, but no need for this kind of comment thanks.
I’ve not tried the perfume yet but agree, lovely box, not sure whether the scent will be for me, but good to try new things. Funnily enough the rose 31 I think you’re all talking about is my favourite perfume ever!

Growlybear83 · 01/12/2024 15:36

I don't really understand that anyone could think these calendars aren't value for money. Presumably you choose which one you want based on the proportion of things that you would use, so even if you won't use six or seven of the products, the value is still way way more than the price you pay. I remember totting up the value of my Harrods calendar two years ago because I couldn't believe the contents woukd really come to the £1100 or so that was claimed, but it really did. And if you sell on just a few of the items that you won't use, you can get back most of the cost of the original purchase price.

I really enjoy the excitement of opening the calendar each day. I've completely forgotten what is in my Liberty calendar, I just remember that it had more fragrances than some, so every day will be a lovely surprise.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 01/12/2024 15:54

Lovely perfume. Haven't spoiled myself this year so looking forward to my daily surprise

Wherethewildthingsfart · 01/12/2024 16:02

I really like this perfume unfortunately (I’m a perfume addict and could do with not liking it).

Wherethewildthingsfart · 01/12/2024 16:03

Btw I treat the negative comments much like I do the ones that say what’s in each door, ignore until I’m ready. Saves drama and upset.

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2024 16:15

I think for me these advent calendars - not just the Liberty one - aren't about the 'stuff' so much. There will be products I like, products I don't like and the odd product that I love. Nothing in a calendar is a necessity so it's all just a lovely indulgence really. And part of that is the excitement of opening it in the morning. I try not to read anything in advance and I love waking up knowing that I have that day's drawer to open. So I don't really care if you can buy the contents cheaper online. Or even if there are things I don't like. It may be a nauseating phrase but it's that little spark of joy that I get on a December morning that's worth it to me.

Totally get that! Sometimes a small part of me thinks 'I could really do with this being a bit meh' because otherwise I simply must have it in my life. Moon Carnival from a Liberty beauty box was the ultimate in 'uh oh!!'. I'd never spent that much on a perfume till then, but it was just the best scent I'd tried and that was that...🙈

I've just woken up to this calendar by my bedside! I have an amazing dh!!! 🥰

Ahhh was this a surprise for you or did you already have it and he nicely placed it next to you .

Either way , that is lovely (though if he bought it as a surprise then yes , he is amazing Xmas Grin )

SlightlyJaded · 01/12/2024 17:06

Will be joining late in the day most days but think perfume was a lovely kick off. Feels and smells very luxe. Definitely prefer the 3 hours later intensity and think it will be a great addition to my winter/evening/warm perfumes.

Lovely.

supadupapupascupa · 01/12/2024 17:11

I like the perfume! It's violet which is my favourite! However is doesn't last as well as some of my others...... but it's cheaper so...... all in all very happy!

Yep! Peony Couture and Boemia samples have become firm favourites (I think I’m on my fourth full size boemia).
