* Please avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance. * (Edited at request of the OP by MNHQ)

It is one sleep away! We’ve all been very patient, since Liberty London revealed their advent calendar in June this year.

Reveals from 7am GMT each morning please. This is to harmonise discussion/shift work/different time zones.

I'm the same, not keen on scented skincare in general but it feels like a luxury product, and again a big size of something I'd not have bought for myself.

nearly61 · 02/12/2024 10:43

@TriciaMcMillan yes it was surprisingly oily -I hadn't expected that. I used a few drops more than I should have (bad eyesight and sooo hard to read the tiny white on pink print!) but am happy to report it has all sunk into my parched skin. I didn't put a moisturiser on top like I normally would -has anyone else?

Joining this thread as my husband miraculously actually acted on one of my hints (or targeted advertising we’ve been getting bombarded with) without me having to specifically ask for it and surprised me with the calendar yesterday. I LOVED yesterday’s perfume after some initial hesitation because I hadn’t tried any LBTY perfumes before and am quite picky with scents. Today’s is such a winner as well, I didn’t put on any skincare after my P50 toner this morning in the hope that there might be something for my face in the calendar… yay, it’s divine!

Only problem I see so far… how the f* am I ever going to want a chocolate calendar ever again? 🤣

You won't.

That's it now.

Better start saving for next year 🤣

@Biscuitburglar @giadaros

I know what you mean about the slightly antiseptic/hospital smell.
It's probably the myrrh & frankincense in it which is used in incense & some medicines.
Also frankincense has a bit of a musty pine smell
Agarwood which smells a bit manure & throw in the guiac & cedarwood with it & there you have it faint eau de hospital.

I also get a hint of old primary school well my old primary school which I loved.

Smell conjures up all sorts of memories.

I don't get that at all- I get vanilla/cashmere. It's weird cos I thought I had a good nose!

emmab16 · 02/12/2024 11:15

The serum is lovely and light and I do suffer with rosacea so im hoping this will help

I was naughty and tried it last night, didn’t put any moisturiser on top and my skin felt lovely this morning

@MyStylish40s

And absolutely super excited to be a mama!!

@OchonAgusOchonOh

Haha I'm glad I have another lurker here!

TheRealMummyPig · 02/12/2024 11:43

It feels beautiful on the skin and has a subtle smelling rose fragrance which is lovely.

imp2007 · 02/12/2024 12:05

I did put moisturiser on as well but let it soak in for ages first - might try it on its own tonight. Finding this year extra enjoyable as I normally spend ages studying the contents of all the calendars before I pick one - this year went straight for Liberty as I had beauty drop credit towards it - so much more exciting getting a total surprise each day!!!

Yes, 3 hours later and my skin is already delightfully soft!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/12/2024 15:27

Quite pleased to have a face serum as I was coming to the end of my usual Elemis one (which I do love) but the Dr Sebagh Rose de Vie one saves me having to buy it this time.

I tried the Rose de Vie Serum on the back of my hand this morning.
It did feel a bit oily at first & had to give it a good rub in.
However 10 hrs later my hand is still feeling lovely soft.
Will try it on face later or tomorrow to see how it performs.

Wherethewildthingsfart · 02/12/2024 15:52

Will this serum be good to use with my Gua sha tonight? Or would it be a waste?

AnnieFrancais · 02/12/2024 16:52

I think it would be a waste, it soaks in quite quickly so I think youd need to use quite a lot: Its lovely, doesn't sit on top

Netaporter · 02/12/2024 17:08

A couple of people have asked ‘what are we doing with this?’ About today’s product. Quick answer (in the event posters find it useful!)

This is a serum. Therefore a ‘treatment’ product that you should use after cleansing and toning (if you include this step) and before adding a moisturiser. You can use this morning or evening. I will be using probably in the evening. Only a couple of drops are required so you probably won’t have the ‘slip’ necessary for a flat massage tool but if you have a roller-type device it would be good in conjuction with that. Treatment products need enough time to sink in properly so if you are planning on adding a moisturiser wait a good while before adding to ensure that your skin gets the benefit. Don’t forget SPF if you are using in the morning.

*disclaimer, I am not a beautician but I do love a product!

Wherethewildthingsfart · 02/12/2024 17:57

Thank you @AnnieFrancais and @Netaporter

Net, I think that I remember you being really helpful re skincare last year too! Looking forward to making use of your wisdom!

Waffles21 · 02/12/2024 18:01

Ooh just got home and opened this, it’s so lovely, have had a sniff, and really excited to try it- exactly why I wanted this calendar- new, amazing things to try! I love serums, using up an Elemis one at the moment and using Sunday Riley good genes in the evening so will save these until those are done. Roll on tomorrow!

Pootle40 · 02/12/2024 18:19

Loving the serum as someone who gets bits of psoriasis on my face especially in Winter.

I recently got the full size Suqqu Aquafons after the trial in the beauty drop box and that seems to be helping my skin too.

TriciaMcMillan · 02/12/2024 18:29

@Netaporter thank you, that is so helpful! 😊

Whenim63 · 02/12/2024 18:48

Oh god. I am PMSL but dh is really cross 🤣🤣 We’ve been away for the weekend but dh presented me with my advent calendar when we got home. A friend had posted hers on fb over the weekend and it looked lovely so I was really excited to get it. I opened it and it looked….different? It’s printed in black and white, not Christmassy at all like previous years? Anyway, I opened drawer 1 and yes, perfume which definitely smells of hospital ward. I opened 2 and it’s a scalp treatment? Not what you all have!
My first thought was he’d bought a knock off calendar by accident….i asked him and he was super offended and got me the receipt…..which shows he’s bought the Liberty 2024 MENS advent calendar!!! He’s raging but I can’t stop laughing! At least he’s got one now 🤣🤣🤣

jay55 · 02/12/2024 19:34

@Whenim63 that's too funny, and so disappointing too.

That happened to a friend of mine a few years back. Her DH was so chuffed with self up to the point she pointed out his error 😂

BakeOffRewatch · 02/12/2024 20:24

December 2nd! I feel like I spent so long waiting to open this that the month is going too fast already. I got mine on pre order.

Dr Sebagh Rose de Vie Serum 30ml FULL SIZE
Value £132! www.libertylondon.com/uk/rose-de-vie-serum-282815.html

I love serums, and I have a tonne to get through. Should I open this one next or save it for summer? I’m making my way through Reome Broth at the moment. I’m always careful of expiry after opening so don’t have multiples of one type of product opened. I’m reading it’s oily on here, so should probably use after Reome Broth is finished?

Yesterday's LBTY Ianthe Oud perfume is still on my dressing gown and I do really like it. I’m not getting my hospital vibes, maybe I am not going to the right hospitals Xmas Grin

These threads are for admiration, and the conversation is old on this thread already, but I agree that discussion of bargains and value are best placed on the main advent discussion threads. www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5219561-beauty-advent-calendars-2024-7?reply=140164199

People do buy the calendars for different reasons and I’ve noticed that people who have bought loads or been buying them for years are dissatisfied. However they are also the ones that are hot on the button and share the best deals, bargains and codes. So I am thankful to them! I actually went onto Vinted and bought the day 1 of Vogue after seeing PP’s post, so I’m really happy I admit. But I won’t go on to waifs and strays to talk about my bargain where people are opening. I think it’s a difference in internet etiquette; some people see forums as a place to deposit their thoughts as non-sequiturs, others for the conversation and camaraderie with others. You get it a lot on Telly Addicts “no spoiler” threads, people writing stuff like “I’ve seen it all, you’re in for a treat/im disappointed” thinking they’re fine as they’re not giving plot details, but what are they expecting from joining the thread!?

I advise people don’t give oxygen to threads they don’t like, there’s enough momentum and posts per day for the thread to carry on and I’ve noticed if people don’t get replies they don’t tend to post again. And as noted, it’s a public forum anyway.

I am loving the Liberty Box and having drawers. Given my memory I’ll have forgotten it all by day 25 and will enjoy reopening drawers to be surprised. It’s so pretty and I’m enjoying noticing a different character on it each day. There’s a chicken on the roof!

Exciting @LilyJessie , you could have a Christmas Day baby! It’ll be great to welcome your arrival amongst our advent calendar opening joy. I’ve got a newborn too which is why I got the calendar in the summer, I’ll be buying little else in the year ahead. I read the posts pre-7am during a feed and liked the teaser posts actually, they got me warmed up for when I woke up later to open.

That’s so funny that your DH got you the men’s calendar @Whenim63 ! Isn’t it pretty much unisex though? You should keep it!

@Whenim63 that's too funny, and so disappointing too.

He’s been frantically trying to find a Liberty one but they’ve all gone 🤣 I now have a Vogue one arriving soon apparently- I’m going to have to find a new thread 🤣🤣🤣

lostonadustyrock · 02/12/2024 20:57

Just tried today’s serum. Beautiful beautiful smell that takes me right back to my grandma’s dressing table. I must have a very big face because it took more than two drops to apply with any decent coverage 😂

Really delighted so far with the calendar.
