Which one(s) you have and how you describe your style?

And your age if you don’t mind?

🙋
Vegan Chelsea boots or a 30-year-old pair of purple vegan lace-ups (although they are on their last legs now). I'm 52, been wearing DMs off and on since my early 20s, and my style, if you can call it that, is 'Obviously works from home' - jeans, t-shirts, and lots of dog hair.

Brefugee · 18/11/2024 12:39

I have about 7 pairs. Currently wearing silver glitter ones. I am... Over 60

Eta: have been wearing them since school days. With jeans, with dresses. Have some 20+year old purple leather ones (wear to football), flowery ones, patent leather, vegan ox blood, Grey marble effect and shoes covered in black sequins. Green leather ones too.

I do! I’ll be 40 next year.

I dress quite youthfully and very casually. I’m a hairdresser and my hair is dyed different colours every few weeks! I do most of shopping in vintage/charity shops but sometimes M&S, Primark or TU.

I have two pairs at the moment. Currently loving my White Platform Devon Hearts. I wear them with jersey dresses/jumpers with denim skirts and tights or with high waisted wide leg jeans/trousers with cropped tees.

I also have Aimilita fur-lined boots that I have ribbon laces in. These are my trusty wear-anywhere boots so I wear them for walks in the woods, along the beach etc. Tend to wear them more with skinnies but also skirts/dresses.

I find both pairs unbelievably comfortable and wear them for work, where I’m on my feet all day.

I'm 40.
I have about, maybe 15 pairs.

And I wear the same ones everyday 😅

Black sinclairs

Aethelthryth · 18/11/2024 12:59

I'm nearly 60. Shoes rather than boots. One brown "everyday" pair. One pair with a Hogarth painting printed on and one pair with a Hokkusai design. Love them.

HoppingPavlova · 18/11/2024 13:03

I have passed mine on to my daughter who wears them, after I had them for 40 odd years. Classic black and purple pairs and she wears them mainly with dresses.

ByHardyRubyEagle · 18/11/2024 13:05

I do, and I wear the low top style, can’t remember the name but I have them in brown and black. I used to be a goth when I was a younger teen, so I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Plus once you wear them in, you’ve got a comfy pair of shoes for life.

TubularBeIIs · 18/11/2024 13:06

I have a pair. Dark red tie up. Took such a long long time for me to break them in and tbh the quality is not great - they are now made in China.

My next DM "style" boots will be from Solvair. Made in UK and apparently brilliant quality.

RaininSummer · 18/11/2024 13:09

I want to be a Doc wearing granny but they are so goddamn painful to break in that I always give up.

Iheartmysmart · 18/11/2024 13:10

Purple pascal boots which are ancient and lovely, Vonda floral mid calf which are pretty to look at but bloody uncomfortable to walk in and a pair of Solovair dealer boots if they count.

Style is probably classed as scruffy as I wear them with jeans and hoodies mainly.

I’ve been eyeing up SV shoes for a few years now but never had the excuse to treat myself!

Look for ones that are 'milled nappa' It means they're a very soft leather and I only buy those now as no breaking in x

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 18/11/2024 13:16

1460s, been wearing them since my teens, am now 50. Was a goth in my youth, now more grunge/rock ish.

TheSilkWorm · 18/11/2024 13:17

Same as others - never stopped wearing DMs! Currently have 3 pairs, all vegan canvas florals. I am fairly casual, if I dress up it's usually a shortish dress with tights and DMs if it's a pub type night out or lace up flats in winter. Live in Birkenstocks all summer. In my 40s!

Fedupandstressed · 18/11/2024 13:17

60 in April
Brogue style boots

Brefugee · 18/11/2024 13:23

My sparkly ones didn't need wearing in, nor my doft Grey ones. The leather ones are better when warmed up from your feet (my patent leather ones are always stiff tho, round the top.)

Solvair used to produce the UK made Docs, didn't they?

GetDownkeith · 18/11/2024 13:29

I am this moment wearing the fur lined Chelsea boots with tight, a smock dress and chunky cardigan (work)
I wear them with various jeans but thinking about it the jeans are usually shorter so sit above the boots. So mom jeans, cropped side leg that sort of thing. I am 45. I’ve always worn docs since I was a teenager in the 90’s have sandals too.

JohnWickAteMyHamster · 18/11/2024 13:33

I'm 47. I have three pairs - black slightly glittery, zebra print, and flowery.

I don't know how to describe my style really, but I often feel I need to be more glamorous and sophisticated and don't really know how to dress like a grown up 🙈

VeryQuaintIrene · 18/11/2024 13:36

Several pairs, including sparkly ones. 60. Style - probably Paddington goes mad in the Oxfam shop.

FlyingontheGround · 18/11/2024 13:42

I’m 39, wear the black pascals for nearly everything with jeans, coated leggings or dresses. My style is casual/slightly alternative, I wear a lot of black and other dark colours.

Saucery · 18/11/2024 13:42

I have some patent Darcie Diva lace-ups that I need to get out and wear again.
A pair of zip up Charlas, a style they sadly don’t do any more.
I’ve switched to Solovair for the basic 8 hole Chelsea boot, because DM’s quality has plummeted so badly over the last 15 years or so. I have the black ‘greasy’ leather and the burgundy shine version.

Style? Ex-Goth, floaty dresses, big boots, turn-up jeans or cords, hand knit socks/jumpers.

dudsville · 18/11/2024 13:48

I didn't wear these when I was young because they're expensive and I'm not cool. But I'm in my mood 50s and these and birkenstocks are all i wear. I love the groucho and pascal shoes and boots

Fozzleyplum · 18/11/2024 13:51

56 year old, mainly classic dresser, here. I have 2 pairs of black 1460s - one in soft leather and the other pair is a DM X Beams collaboration in suede. I also have a pair of brown Rometty boots, which are probably my most frequently-worn footwear in Winter.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 18/11/2024 14:14

I have the Alyson chelsea boot in brown. Had them just over a year. Comfortable right from the off. Wear with Jeans usually. I'm 68.
