I hope all are well and have had as little damage as possible from the storm.

Lovely shirt @Theteapotsbrokenspout . Please can you let us know what the fabric is like? Or maybe @ScottishMouse might remember.

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 12:11

Ah, I’m afraid didn’t do the feel test as I wasn’t interested in it for me @Theteapotsbrokenspout, I just saw it on the rail and it looked lovely.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/12/2024 12:48

@Countmeout Yes, I'll give an update when it arrives. Did you see the needlecord shirt? @ScottishMouse It looks very wide.
I sold the only Oxford shirt I bought without ever wearing it, I realised collarless doesn't really suit me, and I was never going to wear anything white however much I had longed for a white shirt.

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 12:58

I didn’t @Theteapotsbrokenspout. It does look wide online though.
I love the collarless long oxford shirt and have tried it many times hoping I have magically changed shape, but it is too neat on the upper body for me. The new one has a collar, I always feel kind of choked by a collar, so that’s another reason it needs more consideration.

faustina · 08/12/2024 13:03

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - that's very high up on my Wishlist so I'd also love to see it when it gets there please!

MiracleToast · 08/12/2024 13:49

Did you try the tank @ScottishMouse ?

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 14:22

They didn’t have it in a suitable size @MiracleToast, so no. I may order online.

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 15:57

Right, who has the alpaca poncho and do you find it kind of annoying to wear? I bought the charcoal one a few weeks ago, and have tried it out a few times but i think it may need to go back. I only have a couple of days to decide before the return window closes.
What I like - love the colour on me, like the slightly high neck, love the fabric - it’s thick but soft, like the quirky style
What I don’t love so much - doesn’t fit well under a coat, neck is not high enough to not want a scarf too (I wear a scarf pretty much all day every day in winter, even indoors) but that looks too much of a mess, it leaves dark hairs on anything light coloured even if just thrown on for a minute, I find it a bit restrictive on the arms
Would love to hear what anyone else thinks of they have it or have tried and returned it.

TosstTastic · 08/12/2024 17:11

Do you have. previous poncho @ScottishMouse.?

I have thought of buying one for a draughty farmhouse dinner party situation but I think a whole wall of knitwear might be a bit dull at the dining table. Currently using a mohair, v neck from cos

oddandelsewhere · 08/12/2024 17:13

It's possibly just me, but I can't get any knitwear to load at the moment. In a moment of weakness and near frostbite I was considering buying a cardigan even without a sale. But maybe they are going to have a little knitwear sale again?

oddandelsewhere · 08/12/2024 17:17

Sorry I spoke too soon, it's all come back again.

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 17:33

@TosstTastic i also tried it last year in the biscuit colour, but returned and always had a slight regret. But I think I returned it for the reasons above so maybe I should just stick with my gut and send it back. I wish they would do a plain charcoal sweater in that alpaca mix, I would snap that up.

Poplinskirt · 08/12/2024 17:44

I have a few shoulder warmers @ScottishMouse and to work under a coat they need to fall at mid upper arm , any longer and they bunch up as you put your arms into the sleeves.
I also agree on the neck, kind of beside the point to need to wear a scarf in addition
I think the Toast Poncho works as a worn over clothing item rather than under but unless you just waft about 😂 it's a smidgen too long to allow any kind of busyness which we probably all are/at this time of year.

What I wear around the house is one of the Lapuan pocket shawls, nice for wrapping up for a quick dash to the shop etc also
Will try to post a pic
I also think the Toast one is heinously expensive

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 17:56

I am reconsidering the poncho and looking at two other knitwear layers that I really like, and trying to figure out which would be most versatile. The other two are the cotton alpaca button through tank in grey and the cotton alpaca reverse cable tank in biscuit. Charcoal is my favourite of the three colours, but maybe one of the tanks would be a better option. Hmmmm….

IlovePond · 08/12/2024 18:00

Hi @ScottishMouse - one of the Toast staff was wearing the poncho recently and I said it looked nice. She said she only wore it indoors because of the coat issue!

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2024 18:09

Interesting @IlovePond. I did try to put my big winter puffer coat over it and it works if you hitch it up a bit but it felt uncomfortable and stuffed in.

IlovePond · 08/12/2024 18:13

She said the poncho came in handy as it got cold in the shop but too warm for a jumper! It was the Olive colourway she had.

Stravaig · 08/12/2024 18:44

Oh, the Bandhini silk dress is off my covet list! There is one listed on eBay and it looks black rather than green in the real life photos.

ScottishMouse · 11/12/2024 22:04

Poncho is going back. I can’t see an occasion for it that a cardigan or big scarf wouldn’t solve. The cable tank is also going back @MiracleToast. It’s beautiful but just does not suit me.
I am terrible for buying tops, knitwear & even dresses but avoiding trousers as I find them tricky (lack of waist, also lack of hips). I ordered three pairs with the tank though as I really need some. The check suki are nice enough but not that exciting and are dry clean only so that’s a no. The graph check cotton cashmere ones feel a dream on - like pjs - but I think they balloon out at the front pleats a bit too much. The indigo alix are perfect. But that would be my 4th pair of them (my first ones were bought when they did them the first time around, maybe 7-8 years ago, those are threadbare now, the other two are more recent but one is too small and the other will eventually wear out too). I guess I know what I like!

MiracleToast · 11/12/2024 22:32

I was wondering how you’d gotten on with it @ScottishMouse, sorry it didn’t work out, good to try and see. With the trousers, I’m similar, find it really difficult to find any that are right. Glad you found some perfection in the indigo alix, and with all the returns maybe that’ll enable more prospects with the upcoming Christmas sale! 😇

faustina · 12/12/2024 05:19

@ScottishMouse - Maybe they should do another colour in the same fabric as the indigo? I was wearing my beautiful checked pair until quite recently, but I know you're in a much colder place than me. Perhaps a needlecord might work? I wonder why they've never done that?

Am I the only person who received a Christmas card from Kindred this year? I scanned it hopefully in case it had a discount code in it, but no luck😒

ScottishMouse · 12/12/2024 06:24

I got the card too @faustina. A nice touch but I would prefer if they saved the money spent on printing and sending them and gave us all a wee discount instead!
Yes, I would love some cord Alixes. I have often thought they would be lovely and wondeeed why Gabi gets the cord treatment every year but Alix never does. A wide wale cord would be delightful too.

IlovePond · 12/12/2024 06:53

No card for me here 😿

I’ve just woken up from dreaming I was in Toast trying on a blue full skirt with pleats and pockets, a blue and white shirt and also a yellow and white tee shirt with yellow floral silky trousers!

It was quite remarkably specific, but obviously a dream as everything fitted beautifully and suited me😹

I told the staff I wasn’t buying anything, though as it would all probably be half price in the ‘sale next week’, then my alarm went off 😹

Fingers crossed there are some lovely things in the sale irl!

ScottishMouse · 12/12/2024 09:42

Hilarious @IlovePond !!

faustina · 12/12/2024 10:02

So funny @IlovePond ! Maybe it's an omen and the sale will start very soon. Not sure if others have noticed - the sales this year have a slight air of desperation about them (as in desperate because not selling as much as usual)
