Title says it all really [sigh]

Last time I was on a beach holiday was in another century, when I was size 8 and toned. I have no idea what to wear now

more info please... height, dress size, good and bad bits, colours that suit, budget...

cocolepew · 23/04/2008 22:49

what's classed as fat and middle-aged these days

KristinaM · 23/04/2008 22:49

wot i feel comfortable in is joggers and a t shirt

now since reading MN style threads i am only allowed to wear this to the gym

so suspect they will not give me a dispensation to wear it to the beach

seeker · 23/04/2008 22:50

Whatever you like - you will be invisible.

"My name is Seeker, and I am fat, middle aged.....and very very bitter!"

Where is the beach holiday taking place. This issue is bugging me too as I am off to Greece in August and am plannng for nobody to see the area between my waist and my knees. Not quite sure atm how I am going to achieve that on a flotilla sailing holiday though.

KristinaM · 23/04/2008 22:58

[preens about new kitchen] colour is johnstons copy of farrow and ball colour

units are £6K copy of posh kitchen designers

if only tarting up self for hols were as easy as kitchen

OP posts:
RosaLuxembourg · 23/04/2008 22:59

Kitchen is gorge. Maybe I will holiday there instead. When are you going, and can you leave the key under the doormat?

BlinkingNoraWotzThat · 23/04/2008 23:00

it doesn't matter because everyone will be looking at the 20 something year old size 10 woman next to you, who'll be more stressed about how she looks than you are. So just be happy and wear what you like.

I am sure the fashion police will be along soon with some links.

KristinaM · 23/04/2008 23:00

greece in schoool hols. i knwo it will be roasting but have no choice on dates

I know ALL ABOUT beach holidays in the rain..i live in scotland

rosa - do you have a toned tummy then????

OP posts:
KristinaM · 23/04/2008 23:02

blinking nora - there will be NO 20 year olds there. it is holiday resort for boring middle aged people with kids

suspect soem of them might be thin and middle aged though

am going to Bravissimo tomorrow to try on their swim wear. nothing much on website

OP posts:
snice · 23/04/2008 23:03

Someone will come along soon and talk about "capsule wardrobes" (hopeful emotion)

islingtonponce · 23/04/2008 23:04

well. firstly doesn't sound like you're going to frighten people with those vtal stats.

do you intend to do lots of lounging on beach / swimming? or more relaxing languidly in shade?

i would spend serious money on one piece, a miracle suit from figleaves (look on site, cant do links but maybe someone else can). they are brilliant (but not cheap). iff out of budget the good chain (m and s etc) will have something similar but will not be as good. this wiull deal with any flabby tummy etc and make you look svelte.

then you just need

some glam flat sandals

some light cotton cover ups (with 3/4 sleeves?). look in french connection). ideally something to at least mid thigh, thus covering bootom. can put on linen trousers / skirt for lunch etc.

stylish hat.

sorted.
