Can I wear boots with this dress to a wedding!?

I’m going to a winter wedding in late November. I have found a dress I really like the look of but would it look completely wrong to wear it with tights and boots? And if not can anyone recommend some to me?

I never wear heels and winter weddings always throw up this issue for me! However I now have a toddler so really need practical footwear! I don’t mind a bit of a heel so long as it’s not narrow and not too high.

I usually love dresses and boots but can’t picture that combination here. Sorry!

3luckystars · 10/10/2024 17:56

I don’t think you could no. I wouldn’t wear boots to a wedding and this dress, they might look clunky with it.

Same, sorry. I love the dress though!

Doggymummar · 10/10/2024 17:57

I think a skinny stilleto boot might work perhaps, maybe in white

CowTown · 10/10/2024 17:57

I can’t picture this dress with boots. Do you already own the boots? Can you post a photo? Maybe it would go with pointy boots with a really slim high heel?

SummaLuvin · 10/10/2024 17:59

knee high boots (in a sleek leather or suede) would work better than ankle boots I think

Neolara · 10/10/2024 18:01

Great dress! Not convinced boots would work though.

JC03745 · 10/10/2024 18:02

Love the dress but also can't imagine the dress with boots. Do you mean knee high boots? Can you post a pic so we can see how it would look?
Could you wear low wedges instead of heels?

JustToBeMe · 10/10/2024 18:09

Something like this maybe?

Thanks for your replies. No I don’t have any boots in mind for it. Can anyone suggest footwear that would go with it that would be kind to my feet? Or do I need to rethink the dress?

I just can’t do heels. They’re too uncomfortable and make me miserable! But I just love the look of the dress. Empire line is most flattering on me and it covers my arms too which I’m not too keen on either!

Oh no, I think it would look awful with tights and boots!

TomatoSandwiches · 10/10/2024 18:18

Could you do a small wedge type heel?

LivelyBlake · 10/10/2024 18:18

What are your boots like OP? I assume they're flat as you say you can't do heels.

edited as you have now replied. You could you wear flats like these: https://www.oliverbonas.com/accessories/gold-pearl-buckle-pointed-flat-mary-jane-shoes-367340#selection.color=1998

GettingStuffed · 10/10/2024 18:19

I think you may be able to wear it with shoeboots

Any of these?

Nooooo, they are really granny shoes and that dress is lovely. I think they would spoil it

crumpet · 10/10/2024 18:37

The Oliver Bonas ones are the best so far

HotCrossBunplease · 10/10/2024 18:43

I’m presuming you’d wear completely flat sandals and a short-sleeved dress if it was a summer wedding?

Is there any reason you can’t wear flat court shoes with this dress? The closed toes matching up with the long sleeves, if you see what I mean?

eatyeateat · 10/10/2024 19:15

Actually at first I thought boots would be awful but I do think there is a chance you'll get away with these and thick black tights?

Duchessofmuchness · 10/10/2024 19:21

What about Mary Jane ballet flats in silver or gold? Very on trend. There are some with small block heel if you do a search

Carnationstreet7 · 10/10/2024 19:22

Nope

KirstenBlest · 10/10/2024 19:25

You could. They won't go all that well.

The dress is fab but it needs strappy heels .

mitogoshigg · 10/10/2024 19:26

My dsd has just bought that dress! But no, not boots.

soupfiend · 10/10/2024 19:28

Knee high suede boots possibly but its the wrong fabric for boots, you need a more wintery, thicker fabric for boots and tights.
