Tretinoin 0.006 - I think I can see an improvement already!! (Pic)

I've been using skin + me for the last month, and am on an incredibly low dose of tret (0.006), but I think I can see an improvement!! My skin has been feeling softer and more "elastic" somehow (although I thought that might be due to slathering in moisturiser to soothe the dryness I experienced for a couple of weeks). I feel like my face just looks a bit brighter. I took a pic before starting and another one a couple of days ago. I've put them together and I think I can see a little softening of my (intense) frown lines. I'm so pleased! Can you see it too? (first pic on the left, new pic on the right). I'm annoyed that I didn't get the lighting the same, so I look more pink in the recent photo.

I’m nearly at the end of month two, so will be going up from 0.009 to 0.012….still going well, no irritation. My face is still waaaaay less oily, fewer bumps under the skin and my pores are smaller. I know it’s better because I don’t have the same pathological urge to pick at my skin the way I have for 35 years - I get to the mirror and there’s very little to pick at!!
again, I don’t think anyone else would notice but me, it’s still subtle, but I’d go as far to say that it’s the best thing I’ve used.

menohnopausal · 07/12/2024 19:46

Just posting my latest comparison pics. Not sure there's much difference wrinkle -wise, but I'm still really, really happy with the difference in pore clarity. My skin is looking waaay better than it did in September.

@MiniCooperLover I missed your last update! Your skin is annoyingly perfect 😆

Can definitely see an improvement op! I tried Skin & Me but preferred Dermatica as got a more generous prescription I feel! Have also heard that you can order tret quite cheaply online so may look into this!

September to December progress.

@MrDarlingtonsPie thanks! What do you get with Dermatica? I will most probably end up ordering tret elsewhere once I've built up to a standard strength of tret. Also looking at tazarotene (tret's younger, cooler sibling 😆).

That's great progress, your skin looks so refreshed and the lines fewer 👍

sparkleroo · 07/12/2024 20:53

I'm interested.... can you please advise where you are purchasing this from & how much it is ? TIA

They give you some other freebies in the first month: mini sizes of moisturiser, cleanser, SPF50, and a morning "booster" serum. They were all quite nice, but I didn't bother with them as they're £££. I'm using CeraVe cleanser and moisturiser, and that works fine!

Oh and Garnier SPF50.

Also if you sign up and pick your products but don't check out I got £20 off my first order.

Hey all, just noticed a lot of people mentioning tretinon, but my daily doser from skin and me doesn't contain it! Its only ever had azelaic acid and nicadamine. Should I be getting tret too? I thought maybe because I have a bit of rosacea, but I can see some have both azelaic and trey! So im confused why I never got it!

You can get it online from other places and start using with the lower strength

So just shy of 2 months. Skin was always clear but it just looks a lot healthier now? Not sure freckles are changing but I don't mind that.

Do you use anything else along with this

GFlower · 09/12/2024 13:27

I’m on Tretinoin 0.01%, Azelaic acid 3% and Niacinamide 2%. Anyone else on similar? Been on it awhile and wondering if I should ask to increase my tret as my skin is getting used to it and not seeing as much irritation/peeling now?

I see

menohnopausal · 11/12/2024 07:23

@GFlower i would say yes! From what I've read, studies show that you get better/more results from increasing the percentage up to 0.25, and then it seems to plateau (so 0.5% isn't much better).

Who are you getting it from? it was quick and easy to organise a percentage increase with skin and me!

Yes, I’ve been reading up and hearing the same. I was on higher when I first started and found it much too harsh I almost stopped!

I’m on Monderma now but had S&M a few years ago with a discount code for a few months. I’ve just requested an increase so will see how the slight increase goes!

I have been using a higher strength of 0.1% tretiwell from another company and the improvements are better. If you do not increase the strength then it will hit a plateau easily.

Got some lovely comments from family over Xmas where they didn't quite know why but said 'your skin looks good'. Followed by a flustered 'not that it doesn't usually but' 😂
