Tretinoin 0.006 - I think I can see an improvement already!! (Pic)

I've been using skin + me for the last month, and am on an incredibly low dose of tret (0.006), but I think I can see an improvement!! My skin has been feeling softer and more "elastic" somehow (although I thought that might be due to slathering in moisturiser to soothe the dryness I experienced for a couple of weeks). I feel like my face just looks a bit brighter. I took a pic before starting and another one a couple of days ago. I've put them together and I think I can see a little softening of my (intense) frown lines. I'm so pleased! Can you see it too? (first pic on the left, new pic on the right). I'm annoyed that I didn't get the lighting the same, so I look more pink in the recent photo.

I thought I’d update another week in - I have started getting those tiny whiteheads again but they’re still fewer than before. And I’m still less oily.

I’ve signed up to get all the extra bits the trial offered - it is expensive but, honestly, my skin has been the bane of my life and I’m now prepared to invest in it if something looks like actually working.

menohnopausal · 16/10/2024 13:53

@PrayForMyBum I know what you mean! I've become so cynical about beauty products over the years that I'm amazed to find stuff that actually works! Feel free to post progress photos (but no worries if that's a step too far 😁)

All seems fine other than the tret %, I feel you may start with 0.025 to actually see something

I don't have a problem with my prescription, I was simply answering a question from a PP, I'm already seeing the benefits

MiniCooperLover · 17/10/2024 20:42

Ok I'm ready to go this evening ... do people continue this during the summer or stop for a while and then restart?

So when I twisted the pen I didn't hear a click but it stopped on what I'd have said was a teeny tiny amount of cream. Does that seem correct to others?

menohnopausal · 17/10/2024 23:23

I'm pretty sure that happened to me with my first one. I smeared it around as best as I could, thinking it was awfully little. From then on it was a generous pea sized amount. There was also a 29th dose, so I'm guessing it was sort of misaligned to start with.

I'm intending to continue all year round.

I but tretinoin online, cheap, lasts for ages and works. I gave up on Skin and Me when they gave DD and I the same 'prescription' despite us having completely different skin types and skin concerns. Plus a 30 years age difference!

Agreed

MiniCooperLover · 18/10/2024 22:45

How many days in did you start to see your skin react, in whatever way it did react? I'm only my second day in but just curious.

menohnopausal · 20/10/2024 10:57

For me, I noticed slightly "brighter" shin after about 5 days, then after about 7 days went through a roughly 10-14 day period of extremely dry flakey skin, especially around my lower face. It was like a super charged exfoliation. Then it settled down and just looked smoother and brighter. I then got the next daily dose with a slightly higher concentration (0.009%) and again after about 5 days noticed extra some tingling and dryness, but not nearly as severe. It settled after a few days.

I'm going to take another progress photo at the end of this month.

Skin not shin!

Just to add, it really was extremely tingly/burny feeling during the first month. But I really could see such an improvement in pore clarity, especially on and around my chin, that I was determined to keep going

I've always had really "claggy" looking pores on my chin and nothing has ever helped before!

So I'm just over a week in and not sure if much is happening other than the skin around my nose is starting to get a bit itchy (though I've tried to follow the advice and not use the products there). Certainly my skin seems a bit brighter but though I thought I had a good routine pre this, doing the routine plus sun care is obv encouraging me to take even better care and I think that's what I'm seeing. Glad to not rush it though.

I'm such a sheep, I have signed up for it too...

Can I ask where do you buy it from? Skin and Me didn’t do anything for me, but want to try tret and not get a knock off fake one by accident! Thanks

UmberMoose · 28/10/2024 13:40

Many places better than skin n me. So my routine:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

buffyspikefaith · 28/10/2024 13:41

I think I'm 4 years in to using skin and me and really happy with it

menohnopausal · 03/11/2024 10:47

Okay so, I've completed two months of skin and me, and thought I'd keep sharing the results!

First month was 0.006% tret, second month was 0.009%. I'm just about to start 0.015% (I requested to "accelerate" the process a bit, as my skin is tolerating it well, so I've skipped the 0.012%).

Photos are from beginning of September (before starting) and today (just about to start 3rd month).

I'm definitely noticing subtle changes but I'm only coming to the end of my first low dose month .. skin was always clear but looks fresher, make up goes on better etc. using the SPF has been a good routine to get into also. Will try and take some pics at the weekend

AngsanaFlower · 07/11/2024 08:49

I’ve been using Skin & Me for about 3 years. I’m really happy with the ongoing results. I don’t wear makeup on my skin anymore and I get loads of compliments on my ”complexion” which is lovely at 55. I’ve very few wrinkles too.

Tret is the mainstay of my beauty routine. I do buy a lot of skincare products that I usually dislike, so whatever I am using it is usually just to finish it off.

However, the routine is usually;

Wash face with remaining Cerave, Elemis balm (I like the Elemis)
Serum- I love Trilogy Rosehip oil, I’m using Sunday Riley CEO serum and just bought Medik8 Luxe serum after reading the hype.
A moisturiser - whatever is to use up. I’m using either the CEO Afterglow or Clinique Moisture surge

At night I use Skin and Me, but not every night. When I forget I use an extra dose on my neck or a bit round my eyes.
I follow it with a moisturiser

As said I’m getting loads of comments on my skin lately. I think it’s definitely the Tret, but also using the Vit C during the day helps a lot too I think. At 55 I’ve got the best skin of my life.

menohnopausal · 07/11/2024 10:17

@AngsanaFlower I'm so pleased for you! I'm just bowled over by how, after decades of lotions and potions that have done nothing, tret is working like magic!

I'm literally excited to wake up in the morning and look at my skin. Even when I absent-mindedly touch my face during the day, I get a little flutter of happiness that it feels so smooth.

@MiniCooperLover - yes do share pics if you feel like it. I'm vicriously enjoying other people's tret experiences :-D

That's a good result, OP I am a tret evangelist myself. I dont want to post pix but I am 52 snd have zero wrinkles. I do have datk circles and sagging so I am no Jennifer Aniston. But I too have the best skin of my life.
