Vinted sellers delivery times

Hi everyone,

I've been using Vinted a lot recently to sell and buy, I think it's great. But I am finding it really annoying when sellers literally send things the day before the deadline date. I have a number of items which haven't been sent and the deadline is the 7th Oct.

I've not said anything in the past, I've just not left any feedback. However Vinted l automatic feedback for the seller which is always five stars, I don't want that to happen with sellers who are ridiculously slow with delivery. Does anyone know who I stop the automatic feedback?

I always send my packages within 1-2 days. I'd feel really bad leaving it so late to send something.

I think 1-4 days is perfectly acceptable to send out an item, and I get people have busy lives. So do I. But, and it's just a personal thing. Sending out an item on the last day with zero communication is bad form. It leave's a bad taste and then again personally I wouldn't give the 5 stars. I simply wouldn't leave anything if it was my choice.

It's a contentious thing, but just because we are not shops doesn't mean that it's acceptable to send an item out on the last day with zero communication and ignoring someone's message. Just because it falls under Vinted's timelines doesn't mean it necessarily is ok. As the seller communication is key.

I don't want to give negative feedback, or take stars away. I'd just prefer not to give any automatic feedback at all. I think it's all personal, i just like to be speedy with delivery and try and communicate with people. Leaving it to the last day seems to be very slow especially with no communication.

Why should there be any communication if they're posting before the deadline.

Of course it's acceptable to post on the last day. Why wouldn't it be?

FeralNun · 05/10/2024 20:32

You have mistaken Vinted for Amazon.

Seriously though, I do know what you mean - I always message buyers with a thank you and to let them know when I will be posting. Sometimes that will be a few days because reasons. If I buy and hear nothing from seller, I notice that I inwardly judge but that’s my hang up! I wouldn’t dream of giving a negative review - that would be v unfair.

TheEnglishSystemSucks · 05/10/2024 20:38

I think the 7 days is too long, especially when the postage is an extra 3-5 on top. But you're aware when you buy.

However I would give 4 stars (vs 5) for someone who posts on the last day. I think that last star should be reserved for people who dispatch quickly as it's very much appreciated. Needs to be some way to differentiate between slow dispatchers and fast ones.

Cherryblossom200 · 05/10/2024 20:39

Agreed

Exactly. And you get notification from Vinted when an item you've bought is posted as well as delivered/available for collection. Are you expecting the seller to send you an additional message to say it's been sent?! That's unreasonable. People are busy and they're not on Vinted to make you feel all warm and fluffy with unnecessary messages.

HillsNValleys · 05/10/2024 21:31

It really pisses me off when buyers get pissy about delivery times. I’m not Amazon Prime! Sometimes I have to wait until the weekend to post stuff out. If you buy something on a Sunday night, it might be a week later that I have time in my week to get to an in post locker or whatever.

OvaHere · 05/10/2024 21:42

When I buy on Vinted I'm usually getting a bargain so I don't mind if it takes a few days to be sent. If I want something quickly I accept I need to use a retailer that has next delivery.

As a seller I do try to send out quickly but I'm quite fortunate that I have all the postage options very close by in shops that are open quite late so I can nip out in the evening if need be. I also wfh some of the week and don't have small children.

So just give four stars. You don't want an auto five stars so give your own feedback. You don't want to deduct stars, give 5. You're unhappy, give fewer.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/10/2024 08:55

Oh this drives me crazy. If someone buys one of my items I message them to tell them when I'm posting it. It's only polite.

I've bought some things where the item hasn't been posted for about five days, they've seen my message asking (politely!) when it will be sent out, but ignored it and then never posted the item 🤷🏻‍♀️

Vinted have an 'extra' feedback form that sometimes pops up and 'Speed of delivery' is one of the options to rate someone on. I don't think it would be unfair therefore to knock a star off for extremely slow postage where the seller hasn't communicated that in advance.

Blahblahblah2 · 06/10/2024 09:01

This is unreasonable. They're sending it within the timeframe. You're not ordering something from Amazon. You're ordering it from a normal person with a busy life.

I sell loads on Vinted and I usually send within 24 hours, but that's because I live v near an inpost locker. Not everyone does. Chill!

Blahblahblah2 · 06/10/2024 09:02

If you want something soon, pay full price and buy it new.

Hellospooky · 06/10/2024 09:11

You’re being ridiculous. You know the terms and conditions when you purchase through Vinted. One of which is the timeframe to post. If you don’t like it, don’t use it.
Just because you like to post early doesn’t mean everyone else should.
Sometimes I post pretty much immediately, sometimes it’s the last day. Depends what I’ve got going on.

Prawncocktail24 · 06/10/2024 09:30

Yeah, your expectations are way too high. If an item is being posted within the time frame, why does anything need to be communicated with you from the seller? It's not impolite, you already know it is going to be posted on one of those days and Vinted updates you when it has. I'd reply if you messaged me asking, but I'd consider you to be mithering (no matter how polite how were in your message) and would be less inclined to give you 5* as a buyer as a result.

Sampler · 06/10/2024 09:48

I agree with you OP and don’t believe you are being unreasonable.
Just because 7 days are a guideline doesn’t mean the seller should strictly adhere to it. I don’t add negative feedback for this. I just assume they don’t need the money that quickly, live somewhere miles away from a postal spot or are just a bit lazy.

Lovethatforyouhun · 06/10/2024 11:27

I agree i am new to Vinted. Seems like a load of low priced tat overall. One item I bought took weeks, which is apparently standard.

FlySwimmer · 06/10/2024 11:52

As a buyer, I appreciate when someone dispatches quickly. I also recognise that Vinted allows 7 days, so I accept when I buy something that it may take a while to reach me. In that sense, YABU. On the auto feedback I agree with you; there should be an option not to leave feedback. Sometimes I have niggles about an item or seller - item maybe not quite as described, or really poor communication - but it feels unfair to knock stars off. In that kind of scenario the option to not leave feedback would be good.

As a seller, my top peeve is buyers who take ages to press the ‘everything is fine’ button, or who never do, upon receiving the item. That means I don’t get the money for ages!

Completelyjo · 06/10/2024 12:21

Eh I think some posters are being harsh. With Vinted I expect delivery to be slower than an actual retailer but I think 5-7 days before posting is taking the piss about. It’s like 1.5weeks before you actually receive the item.
Vinted say most people send the delivery within 2-3 days which has been my experience too. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with scoring down to 4/5 if someone leaves it until day 5 or later post.
It might come under the acceptable policy for Vinted but if a seller had several comments stating items aren’t sent until the end of the window then I would think twice about buying from them.

Oriunda · 06/10/2024 12:27

Bear in mind that sometimes the right size Vinted Go locker isn’t available (because of buyers not collecting their parcels in a timely fashion). If it’s a Vinted Go purchase, where I can post without needing to get a label printed, I pride myself on same day postage. It’s bloody annoying to get to my local Vinted Go locker, only to find that for 2 days running, there are no medium sized lockers. Last time, I had to squish my item down so that it could fit in the small.

Very unfair of you to leave neutral or negative feedback when the item has been posted within the timeframe.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/10/2024 13:07

You are being petty and ridiculous. As long as they've sent the item within the given time limit, then they've done nothing wrong.

Vinted sellers are not businesses - people work and have busy lives!

piccolorhinoceros · 06/10/2024 13:15

It wouldn't even cross my mind that this was an issue tbh, as long as it is as sent by the deadline. But that's how my mind works, if I have a deadline I'll meet it but rarely early. I sold something on Thursday evening and by Saturday morning I had a message asking when I was going to post it 🙄 I did find that a bit rude tbh.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/10/2024 13:17

I don't use Vinted but I sometimes sell stuff on eBay and it drives me crazy when a buyer messages the following day and asks when it's going to be posted!

They know the timeframe in which it is going to be posted because it's shown on the listing, so why start hassling someone the following day?

Some people are just so impatient. If they want something dispatched next day, then they can pay full price and buy from a business (and probably pay a premium delivery charge too).

Cherryblossom200 · 06/10/2024 13:53

Just to be clear (again), I have not deducted stars or given negative feedback. Please read my post properly. What I would prefer is not to give the Vinted automatic 5 star feedback which I personally do not think it deserved if someone takes longer to post. 1-4 days is fair enough, but 5 + days is too long. As some people have stated, you end up waiting up to 2 weeks for something to arrive. I also only ever send a message asking when they intend to post around the 5 day mark.

If a person can only send around the 7 day mark then I think it's nice to just send a little message to let the buyer know. Set the expectation.

Also I'm talking about the more expensive items, not the little £1.00-£3.00 items.

Currently I'm waiting for an expensive branded leotard and tomorrow is the deadline. I've messaged the seller and my message has been ignored.

It's buyer/seller etiquette. I send my parcels quickly and I make sure I take the time to give decent feedback. Even if we are not a shop, there should be a level of communication especially when dealing with more expensive items. This is my hard earned money at the end of the day. I too have a busy life, but I respect someone has paid for an item and I have a responsibly to deliver as a seller. That's why I get good feedback!

@Cherryblossom200 but that's all just your opinion.

1-4 days is fair enough, but 5 + days is too long

But it clearly isn't, as it's within the Vinted T&Cs? You're presenting these statements as fact. Your responsibility as a seller is to post by the deadline given. As PP said, you can delete the automatic feedback.
