I'm 50 and have lost my way, but I need a new pair of boots to wear with jeans or trousers.

Don't like going higher than 85 and I'm a 2.5 sometimes a 3 so a bit worried the Reiss ones will be too big.

I've not seen a stiletto boot with a pointy toe in the wild since my twenties. Clompy is more the thing these days

AShortName · 09/09/2024 20:37

Nice, but I think stilettos look outdated, I'm afraid. I saw someone in heels the other day and was surprised to note how strange they looked nowadays.

Loubelle70 · 09/09/2024 20:39

Ankle cowboy boots look cool...also dr marten lace up shoes or boots...also chunky boots. Thats what i wear and im 52 👍

imnottoofussed · 09/09/2024 20:39

They do seem to be back in this season going off what I've seen on my Instagram for 20 somethings age category.

I'm not keen on the last pair but I'm not remotely fashionable Grin

fiorentina · 09/09/2024 20:40

I like them. Pointy toes and stiletto heels are definitely making a comeback. I think they are all nice.

smooththecat · 09/09/2024 20:41

The first one, but probably only if you drive everywhere.

blueberrycherubandbump · 09/09/2024 20:45

The boots you've chosen are pretty inoffensive but they look incredibly impractical. Painful to walk in and suede is a nightmare to upkeep especially in winter.

What kind of jeans/trousers will you wear these with. Are you looking for dressy or everyday and how would you describe your style

blueberrycherubandbump · 09/09/2024 21:11

If you're set on suede then these have a lower heel and more relaxed toe. Can easily be dressed up or down

www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/product/khaite/shoes/knee-high/marfa-suede-knee-boots/1647597336696985

Or these are quite lovely, with an almond toe and less severe heel

Personally I love this style, bit of a statement piece but actually really wearable and versatile

I think they are definitely in fashion and I could definitely walk in them. I mostly wear heels for work, so I'm used to wearing heels.

I pulling myself out of wearing skinnies, so probably baggy or flares.

The Jimmy Choos are gorgeous, i'd go with those

KTSl1964 · 09/09/2024 21:27

I can’t see how an any pair of boots is worth £500 + are they hand made for that price? I find it fascinating as I’ve never bought anything for £500 - do they last longer than say M and S boots? Just curious.

thecrossiamwearing · 09/09/2024 21:34

Especially when suede...

AnneShirleysNewDress · 09/09/2024 21:37

Pointy toes and a stiletto (though not too high) are definitely making a comeback. The Jimmy Choo's are gorgeous 😍

They don't look painful to walk in at all. I'd be happy to wear any of those all day. I'm wearing a pair of Khaite boots right now - super comfortable.

How long do you keep your boots for?

I have quite a few pairs of suede shoes / boots I spray them with water-resistant spray and I don't wear the same shoes every day.

I'd rather buy good quality things than a lot of cheaper things.

I'm not fixated on buying suede, I just liked the colour style of those. I'm also looking for a black pair probably leather to replace a pair I've had for about 6 years (at least).

Also I'm a size 35.5 / 2.5 so struggle to find high street shoes that fit.

@startingoveragainagain I love the second pair you linked. Great versatile colour.

startingoveragainagain · 09/09/2024 21:58

I've ordered the Jimmy Choo's thanks all.

Yes, definitely making a comeback. I like the JC's best. I think they'll be really versatile. The heel on the Reiss ones looks flimsy and, in my experience, the Jimmy Choos will be more comfortable.

OP came on here for help choosing a pair of boots and has given us the links.
There weren't any from M&S for us to decide on and thus is irrelevant. She might never have worn a pair of shoes or boots from M&S and thus would not be able to answer your question.
Price is obviously not a factor in her decision because she's chosen the really lovely Jimmy Choo boots.

Oh I'm glad, they're gorgeous and will look great with flared dark denim jeans, leather trousers, skirts. You can't go wrong.

Autumnweddingguest · 10/09/2024 22:54

Stiletto heels and pointy toes are back in this season. I've seen them everywhere.

They are worth the money and do not compare in any way to a pair of M&S shoes. They will be handmade in Italy and using the finest materials. They can last a life time if cared for properly.
If you can afford to, it's better to buy fewer items that are high quality that last than lots of cheaper pieces that fall apart, made in a sweatshop and end up in landfill.

Hah. Was thinking about starting a thread about this. I just looked at my net-a-porter preview and it's wall to wall stilettos tonight. Knee boots too.

My boots last for years, if not decades, and cost a fraction of the cost of those boots.
