which of these boots or another pair?

I'm 50 and have lost my way, but I need a new pair of boots to wear with jeans or trousers.

Don't like going higher than 85 and I'm a 2.5 sometimes a 3 so a bit worried the Reiss ones will be too big.

You must be mad considering paying that much for suede boots. I find suede gets wrecked so quick & would rather buy leather. Also a clumpy heel would be so much more practical in wet weather as you're less likely to slip,

The ones you've shown are lovely though.

Skybluepinky · 16/09/2024 08:16

I assume u live somewhere sunny, as not practical at in anywhere it rains.
I don’t like any of them, remind me of my unfashionable English teacher who smelt of mothballs.

I always wonder why people think gratuitously unpleasant opinions like these are worth typing out? Especially once the OP has already bought one of the pairs (it's not hard to see all the OP's posts before replying). Did it make you feel good in any way?

And by the way, if your English teacher was wearing these she'd doubtless be way more on trend right now than someone with your viewpoint.

@petmad

and id be damned to pay £500.00 for a pair of boots

Yes, but they're for the OP, not you. How much you would pay is irrelevant.

Hello all.

The Jimmy Choo's arrived and they are absolutely beautiful. But I am really unsure about spending the money on them, all the naysayers have got me questioning myself.

So I also ordered https://www.dunelondon.com/odele-chiselled-toe-kitten-heel-chelsea-ankle-boots-brown-0091510780001330.html but i'm unsure and they aren't the easiest to put on, so now i'm thinking i'll order the Reiss ones and maybe these https://www.danielfootwear.com/serin-p149550/s708468

But i'm so bl@@dy confused.

I'd also ordered some black Paris Texas boots but they made my feet look huge, so they need to go back too :/

I mean three pairs!

Well OP, we plainly have the same taste in boots because I love all of these too! The chisel toes on the brown Dune Odele pair are FAB, but I prefer the slightly higher heels of the taupe Daniel Serin and the Ralph Lauren Lizie. I love the colour and heel of the Reiss ones too, but bearing in mind what you said about heel height, those are the highest at 8.5cm.
Of the two you're wearing in the photo's, I think I actually prefer the Dune Odele pair - it's that chisel toe - so flattering! (Nice to see they're all available in your 3/36 size too!) 😃

I mean three pairs!

Given what you were considering paying for the Jimmy Choos, you could buy (and keep) all four of these pairs! Just kidding - I shouldn't encourage you ..... 😉😂

CertainUncertain · 19/09/2024 23:26

I don't love the way the Choos look from the front. They look great from the side but look a bit clunky straight on.

What about something like this?
https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/product/saint-laurent/shoes/ankle/theo-suede-ankle-boots/1647597306100100

A bit different than the others, but very in at the moment and really easy to wear.

RobinEllacotStrike · 19/09/2024 23:37

I can't imagine why anyone would wear boots or shoes like this 😱😱

bittertwisted · 20/09/2024 05:24

I love stilettos and pointy

And Paris Texas are sooo gorgeous, worth every penny

And I can't imagine why anyone would wear hideous clumpy dr martens, but I appreciate we all are allowed to have a different style. If people didn't buy them they wouldn't make them

I've ordered the Jimmy Choo's thanks all.

Good choice

MsKatia · 20/09/2024 07:28

The Jimmy Choos are beautiful. I've never even tried on such a boot. I feel I should venture away from my clumpy Clarks lace ups .

HelenHywater · 20/09/2024 08:24

Dune shoes always hurt my feet. I'd go for the pointy Choo ones myself!

I have a pair of the kitten heeled Isabel Marant ones linked to upthread which I bought last year. I love them - so comfortable. I'm tempted by a knee high version now....

Edited

These are absolutely gorgeous, but if you return to OP's first post she wrote: "Don't like going higher than 85 and I'm a 2.5 sometimes a 3 ....." so she doesn't want the heel height to be greater than 85mm - these ones are 100mm (4") - and the smallest size available is 38.5 (i.e. 5.5).

Doggymummar · 20/09/2024 10:23

I love the Marfa, but decided I couldn't afford them. Easy decision! I got a pair from BrandAlley, Stuart Weitzmann reduced from £800 I think to £200 they are so beautiful. Waiting on the Scotchgard as they are suede but we ventured out to Sainsbury's and Waitrose yesterday without injury. Bonus points, the logo is my initials.!

CautiousLurker · 20/09/2024 10:55

I’d never spend that sort of money on suede boots/shoes. First shower/accidental spillage and they’re wrecked. The Reiss ones look pretty much the same at the other pairs, though, at a fraction of the price. For me it comes down to which brand is actually comfortable to wear for more than a few hours these days so I’d probably look for Salvatore Ferragamo boots in the sales, if I was looking for high end.

And this is why the JC's are on my list, I've lots of JC shoes and I wear them a lot (not as often as my slippers or wellies - but here we are!).

I've now ordered the two from Daniel and the Reiss ones.

Home will start to look like a boot shop!

Lol. Not tried JC, but love my SF bargains! Am current dressed head to toe on Reiss (weight loss treat!) and love the quality and fit, so may look at their boots now!

Oops! Didn't read carefully enough - I do find that I can go higher in a block-type heel than a stiletto, and I didn't check the sizes in stock but know that Saint Laurent in general go down to at least 34 (as that's my size).

As i'm only 5ft and I find that an 85 looks proportionally correct for me.
