I'm 50 and have lost my way, but I need a new pair of boots to wear with jeans or trousers.

Don't like going higher than 85 and I'm a 2.5 sometimes a 3 so a bit worried the Reiss ones will be too big.

Oh no! I can't possibly order another pair!

😂😂😂 Sorry! 😉

I don't love the way the Choos look from the front. They look great from the side but look a bit clunky straight on.

What about something like this?
https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/product/saint-laurent/shoes/ankle/theo-suede-ankle-boots/1647597306100100

A bit different than the others, but very in at the moment and really easy to wear.

Edited

I've been idly reading this thread on the offchance that someone will mention a pair that I like, could wear without hurting, and can afford. (Answer: no, and I might settle for some 'not too awful' £50 boots from Next.)

So it was INCREDIBLY CRUEL of you to post this!! Boots that would be up to the job - good thick suede, strong wide heels, sturdy soles - and are leather throughout, and are casually stylish - bloody would be close to a grand, wouldn't they?! Shame on you, as you laugh at my tears 😬

I've not seen a stiletto boot with a pointy toe in the wild since my twenties. Clompy is more the thing these days

Not at all. Pointy is far more on trend now. You are about 3 years out of date.

I think they are definitely in fashion and I could definitely walk in them. I mostly wear heels for work, so I'm used to wearing heels.

I pulling myself out of wearing skinnies, so probably baggy or flares.

Your first made me swoon.
If you are 100% going to wear under trousers then I'd go for the ankle. If you may wear them with bare legs then the Paris Texas ones are stunning. But only if you have slender calves.

AngelicKaty · 21/09/2024 11:21

Not a grand, no. L K Bennett produce all leather (inc. soles) full length boots for around £500 full price and ankle boots at half that. Or just wait for the sales to get a bargain: https://www.lkbennett.com/product/SAEMILYSUEDEBlackBlack%7eEmily-Suede-Ankle-Boots-Black?currency=GBP&istCompanyId=337c91ab-deea-4ab6-998e-03ece089da1f&istFeedId=8eb3370f-e730-40e5-89c0-e499b9e47d89&istItemId=wrmmmilmw&istBid=t&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3bm3BhDJARIsAKnHoVU9-yHv5ooRZxvo0vbaafFgUvo8fjnvHf-JaZqoVQNjVa358x00DLoaArpBEALw_wcB
(I know these aren't to your specific taste, but it's just to show you CAN get good quality without paying £1k.) 😀

lapochette · 21/09/2024 12:41

Good choice on the Jimmy Choos. They were my favourites too!

startingoveragainagain · 22/09/2024 11:16

The ones from reiss arrived. They are slightly higher than the JCs but I do really like them and a lot cheaper than the choos. The JCs might be more comfy but I don’t know if the difference in price warrants that as I think the reiss ones are very nearly as nice

MulberryPeony · 22/09/2024 16:43

They look almost identical in these photos OP! Though choice whether to test the cheaper ones for comfort or go fur what you know to be comfortable.

ohpoowhatnow · 22/09/2024 19:15

I'd go for the Reiss then , so similar and a lot cheaper !

AngelicKaty · 23/09/2024 05:43

They really do look so similar OP, so I'd make my decision based on comfort. However, the Reiss ones are significantly cheaper so they'd actually have to be UNcomfortable for me not to choose them over the Choos. And if you go with the Reiss pair (assuming they're comfortable enough) you'll have £700 to spend on something else ..... 😉

isthismylifenow · 23/09/2024 06:42

They are very similar, but I think I prefer the shape of the heel of the Reiss ones.

But I also know you were looking for quality for them to last. What would you say is the difference quality wise between them?

I also have the Lauren ones now (will try them on later), the biggest quality difference is the Dune ones they feel the cheapest.

The Jimmy Choo ones obvs feel the most expensive but the difference between the Reiss and Lauren ones is less than between them and the Dune ones iykwim.

Ok. I really like the heel of the lauren ones, and I think they’d look nice with dresses but realistically I’m not going to wear bare legs in the winter and wouldn’t wear them with black tights. I’d also have to wear better socks as I couldn’t have people getting a glimpse of my Xmas socks haha!

they weirdly feel a little tight but I’m thinking they’d stretch?!?

one more pair to arrive then I’m making the decision but definitely returning the dune ones

I like these Ralph Lauren ones on the most. With these straight jeans as they look the least bulky.

Obviously that won't matter with a wider leg style though.

I really like the black ones too. Are you in the market for a black pair as well? Can picture these with a dress and black tights.

I know that is a curveball from the original plan 😊, but you could get two pairs and still be well within JC budget.

Might be a good idea to try the top running pairs on with selection of outfits you plan to wear.

I have some Dune boots, not this style but they are really not the most comfortable. As a result I still go for the older pair they were meant to replace instead. I don't think they are worth the cost at all.

I'd be happy with any of the boots you've ordered OP - we have the same taste. The RL ones are gorgeous and I also like the heel (which, from memory, is a little lower than the Reiss ones). Which pair is still to arrive? (I've lost track! 😂)

Nice, but I think stilettos look outdated, I'm afraid. I saw someone in heels the other day and was surprised to note how strange they looked nowadays.

I think more and more are coming into shops now so they're coming back into fashion.

I realise this now after reading the thread. I live in quite a rural area and have only seen one pair of heels in a long time and they looked so strange (I noticed then because they were out of place iyswim). Happy to be behind the fashion on this one (like the look of these, but could never wear them).

ZanyPombear · 24/09/2024 16:54

I’ve always thought those kind of shoes are really ugly

startingoveragainagain · 24/09/2024 19:14

Ok these are the Daniel ones compared to the JCs and are a really good dupe!

they aren’t as good quality but I do like them.

think I’m torn between the Lauren and these Daniel ones - although the JC ones are beautiful…

the reiss ones do feel slight too high.

They're fab too and I think they just edge it over the Lauren ones for me.
Thanks OP - now I want some taupe suede ankle boots and I don't even need them! 😂🤣😂

I can't imagine why anyone would wear boots or shoes like this 😱😱

Really?
I dont understand why people wear crocs but I don't give it much thought

So, wrong thread for you then.

CertainUncertain · 25/09/2024 00:13

I prefer the heel on the RL ones (for what it's worth)

Think I might have to go down the taupe ankle stiletto boot rabbit hole now too!

Although I was just tempted into a pair of Gianvito Rossi black suede knee boots, so might hold off for a bit 😊
