New diamond ring for myself

newdiamondring · 05/09/2024 16:18

Name changed

Single mum by choice to 2 amazing 12 year olds
Had a very tough four years due to stress, poor health, and general depression which has been hellish
Am through it.
Kids just started at secondary school, and I get a bonus in October.
I want to buy myself a present to say well done for the last 13 years.

I've read loads about lab diamonds and would love a large eternity ring.

I wear a lovely ring on my right 3rd finger already which I don't want to move as it has massive emotional value. It lives there.

Qus.

What ring should I get?
Which ring should I wear it on?
Would it be weird to wear a ring on my left wedding finger? I don't care but many might think I've got engaged!?

All thoughts and ideas welcome 🙏

I am so jealous, I love that collection. We're you treated like a Princess?

Hah, thank you. Yes, I was well looked after. They offered champagne - which I refused considering it was 11am and what the hell would I have bought pissed? 😱

That’s beautiful. I’m deeply envious.

Thank you. I adore it.

What gorgeous rings!

Here's a very similar one to the one I'm getting for a milestone birthday soon

Agree that all the rings being shared are so pretty. It's making things harder for me!!!

I will struggle to get to Brighton for a while due to (kid) commitments at the weekend. And I work full time, so weekdays are out at the moment.

But I know I need to try before I buy, so I need to free up some time to do this.

I haven't yet!! I've literally had no weekends free to go shopping.
I'm planning a trip to London in half term. Have an appointment at the London Diamond Company as I want to see their lab grown diamond rings before I look at anything else. I have an idea in my head of the design I want - but need to take my time and not rush.
My bonus comes through end Oct so there's no major rush.

Hey everyone
I've finally finally got my arse into gear and gone to London to see some lab grown diamond blings!

What do you think of these - not necessarily all together but a mix and match.

They are very bling as you can see. I am looking at a designer they use who does coloured gem rings too.

Oooh! Heaven! That’s my idea of a day out 🤩
the one with marquise stones is particularly beautiful

WildCherryBlossom · 15/03/2025 08:35

Oh wow, what a great day out. I love, love, love the baguette cut diamonds in the middle of the 3 small rings. No advice on which combination. I normally like chunky jewellery but I actually prefer the smaller, delicate ones than the large 3 stone one (it’s a little bit ‘bankers wife’)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/03/2025 14:37

The Swiss set band ring and the trilogy with the rhodium claws . I'm not a fan of gold claws myself ...though if I was buying (which I;m not ) I'd go for smaller stones .

I love a central emerald cut with a brilliant cut either side in trilogy rings , but I never see them .

What coloured stones are you looking for ?

I love the bottom one. The one with alternating round and marquis shape stones.
where is it from please

also, what is the story behind the massive 3 stone ring

I also like emerald cut. Here's a few ideas they sent me. I like them all in different ways. It's hard to choose a stone - I like deeper colours I think. I already have an acqua ring so want something different.

I decided I want a trilogy of some sort as it's less engagement ring style and it is symbolic. Me in the middle with my kids either side 😍

What are the coloured stones?

Daftapath · 16/03/2025 10:56

When you say trilogy, do you mean 3 stacked rings or one ring with 3 stones?

I love all the coloured stones shown. Will you wear on your little finger? If so, I think the ring(s) need to be more delicate. A ring with one large stone (like a dress ring) wouldn’t look right, I don’t think.

I mean three stones one ring. One larger stone in the middle with a smaller one either side.

It would be for my third finger (the one women usually wear their wedding ring on!)

The reason the rings in the pics are on my little finger is because they were too small for my wedding finger unfort!

Daftapath · 16/03/2025 14:15

Ahh, that was what I thought you meant.

I love all the rings in your 21.43 post yesterday. I think the square cut is much less of an engagement ring look than say the three diamond ring you posted upthread.
One of those rings would be much more of a statement than three stacked rings, I think. Beautiful.

WildCherryBlossom · 16/03/2025 20:47

Oh my goodness. I love the square cut aquamarine (I think) with diamond shoulder stones. Absolutely beautiful!

newdiamondring · 16/03/2025 21:03

I love the aqua diamond combo too. Trouble is that's what I've got (in a very different style and cut) on my right hand!

Any suggestions for an alterative coloured gem to wear on the left is welcome.

Come.across teal sapphire which might work. Or a yellow diamond.

Tanzanite is gorgeous - the first ring in your 21.43 post yesterday - could be an Asscher cut sapphire or tanzanite ?

Are the coloured stones lab grown?

They always make emeralds too 'perfect' , 99% have clouding or inclusions which add to their charm IMO .

That’s a cushion cut if I’m not mistaken. I’d be interested to know the stone. My guess would have been teal sapphire or tourmaline but I know very little about lab-grown stones.

Does an Asscher cut have more facets ? More squared off looking ?
....goes off to search things.....

Yes it's a teal sapphire.
