Soo how do you wash your face at the sink

Sorry for the dumb question.

I don't usually wash my face at night with water and cleanser. I use one that doesnt need water just pour on a cotton pad. (morning is in the shower)

I've recently started doing a proper double cleanse but I get water absolutely everywhere. Runs down my arm, im groping around with my eyes shut etc.

What's a more graceful way of doing this please 😂

I just wash my face with my head over the sink and have a microfiber cloth to hand which I dab in my face before water has time to escape!

Sheelanogig · 05/08/2024 22:06

Messily. Though a muslin cloth/bamboo cloth reduces the risk of soaking.

Yep, exactly

I dont

Havent since I was about 7, for this very reason

Any mention of 'strip washing' and I get twitchy

Ive taken to using cotton pads drenched in toner to 'clean' and then just put moisturiser on

Scottishgirl85 · 05/08/2024 22:11

I have a wiping cloth always sitting by the taps (a nice white one so it looks posh). Wash face and then instantly grab cloth and wipe under and around sink, floor etc. Bloody flood every time. Also roll sleeves above elbow. It's an actual military operation.

Jellycats4life · 05/08/2024 22:14

I’m surprised so many people find this hard. Water everywhere? What are you doing?!

I use a flannel or microfibre cloth. Wet it, squeeze out excess water, wipe face. Rinse cloth, squeeze again, wipe face again. Repeat until your skin is clean.

I do this whether I’m using a cleansing balm/milk or a foaming face wash.

familyissues12345 · 05/08/2024 22:15

I just use flannels, keep rinsing until there's no more face wash left.

I think I've seen wristband things for sale that stop water running down your arms?!

Mandarinaduck · 05/08/2024 22:15

Flannel. It also gently exfoliates as you wash. No mess or water running down arms.

LaWench · 05/08/2024 22:16

Evening, Damp hands and lather cleanser on and rinse off with clean hot damp muslin or flannel. Leave to dry overnight on towel rail then goes in the laundry in the morning. Use toner (and eye makeup remover if needed) with cotton pad then serum and moisturiser.

Morning, I wash my face in the shower with BufPuf and soap. Moisturise afterwards.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 05/08/2024 22:17

I use a headband to hold my hair back, take my watch off and roll sleeves up. Towel on hand and wash with my head fully over the sink. Doesn't make a mess.

This. I am also intrigued by the water everywhere posters. 🫤

ForGreyKoala · 05/08/2024 22:22

Use a flannel. I never have water running anywhere, and I've been washing at the sink every night for years.

DeliciousApples · 05/08/2024 22:23

Keep your elbows up and the water can't run down them. It looks stupid but it works.

EasilyDisturbed · 05/08/2024 22:23

Rub cleanser onto dry skin with clean fingers, massage in, soak a flannel in hot water, wring out, wipe face, rinse, wring, wipe till all the cleanser is gone, no mess whatsoever.

PickAChew · 05/08/2024 22:23

Sometime just splashy hands, sometimes with an old fashioned cotton flannel. I started doing that after a cataract operation because I couldn't risk getting soap in my eye by washing my face in the shower and my skin was so much softer for it. Agree with a PP that it's great for exfoliating. Holding the hot cloth next to my face just plain feels nice, too.

pimmpomm · 05/08/2024 22:31

I've got little towelling sweat band type things to go on my wrists. Stops the water dripping down my arms. And I use microfibre cloths rather than just splashing water everywhere. I don't put my pyjamas on until after.

kitsuneghost · 05/08/2024 22:32

I do the headband and splash technique, topless or in just a bra. If my arms get wet, I dry them with a towel.

girljulian · 05/08/2024 22:39

Splash face with water, apply cleanser, briefly pretend to be in a soap advert for the fun of it, splash more water on face until cleanser is gone

This! Gravity is your friend. And a flannel.

Colddipinthemorning · 05/08/2024 22:47

How can people get to adulthood and not know how to wash their faces? Use a flannel of course.

StormingNorman · 05/08/2024 22:50

I don’t splash my face at all.

I squeeze the cleanser into my hand, run my hand under the tap to add just enough water to get it to froth it up. Then I rub the lather all over my face. Rinse my hands, dry them and use my dry hands like windscreen wipers to wipe off the cleanser. When it’s nearly all off, I get my hands wet again and run my wet hands over my face. Then towel off the last traces of cleanser.

MonsteraMama · 05/08/2024 22:52

Don't you elegantly splash handfuls of crystal clear spring water directly into your face while magically keeping your hair and surroundings perfectly dry and then straighten up to reveal a beautiful, perfectly made up, poreless and flawless face?

That's my normal routine, I thought everyone washed their face this way?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/08/2024 22:56

I put cleanser on my face and rub it in, rinse a clean face cloth under the tap and wipe over my face, repeat for good measure,no water splashes anywhere.

Cherubs4 · 05/08/2024 23:06

Head under the faucet. Makes sure all product is thoroughly removed too

suki1964 · 05/08/2024 23:06

I cant be the only one who leaves the shower, towel about my body, one around my hair, head for sink, wash massaged in and a cloth - muslin or a face flannel . Even with a facial scrub, Im not getting drowned
