Can I wear this to a wedding?

Can I wear something like this to a wedding (with heels)? I suit slightly 50s styles and this colour, and I'd like sleeves (it's an autumn wedding, and a Catholic one). Is it too teacher like?
And any idea for accessories?

It's OK. I'm not sure if it's a bit thin for autumn.
Do you have a jacket/ coat to coordinate

@IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle there's a difference in turning up in a dress which resembles a tent, and upstaging the bride 😂

BorisJohnsonsWigGlue · 24/07/2024 20:52

This dress, for instance.

Much more appropriate for a wedding than office / mooching about wear.
That dress would've upstage a bride at all, and if any bride did, they'd be a bridezilla.

Again, each to their own, but that dress is awful.

It looks good, but make sure that the red color doesn't stand out too much and that you are not the main character, but the bride. And be careful if is no dress code there.

if you think that dress is main character then you'll think all my wedding guests were competing with me as the bride.

There is absolutely no way that dress, in any colour, is main character.
I have a nearly identical dress in the same colour that I wear to work.

@EmoConfused

Another store which has dresses with a 50s look is Collectif. There's one near me and I can confirm that the garments are well made. They do gorgeous coats in the winter too!

Again, current stock is summer and sleeveless, but keep an eye on their website to see the new styles for the autumn and winter.

Was this the Collectif relaunch company? I bought their dresses years ago, but I thought there was some weird stuff going on in recent years. I could be wrong, but either way, they've just folded (again?!), a couple of days ago 😯

@Opalline

Oh, I hope that's not the case.

Their shop in Spitalfields is a popular one.

They have gorgeous coats in the Winter, I told myself I would get one this year.

I can't believe it. You are spot on. Oh, what a shame. Just a couple of days ago.

The same happened to LindyBop, I had some gorgeous full skirted dresses from them.
