Taking off heels due to floor damage

Would you take off your heels at someone's house or other location if your worn down heels were damaging the wooden floor? Say it is a shoes- on event where you will be the only one without shoes on, but your stilettos are worn down to the metal nail. I love wearing my heeled boots everywhere and often do not have time to fix the heel tips.

I repaired the boots, but now they are worn down again.

What a lazy and hypocritical attitude! If you care so much about your appearance, why don't you maintain your shoes?

Why am I replying to this, it's an old thread? I hope the floor and shoes are all repaired by now!

In fairness to you, it was the OP who re-hashed the thread 🤨

...... and not to apologise, or accept responsibility, for damaging someone's floors.

It’s the definition of selfish to care more about how you look than about damaging other people’s things.

I was at my friend's brother's house and was wearing my favorite heeled boots, and did not want to be the only one looking silly barefoot.

You’d rather damage their floors than look ‘silly’ because you didn’t have shoes on? You sound nice

EasterlyDirections · 21/02/2025 08:34

Just don’t wear stilettos to other people’s houses, and for goodness sake get them repaired.

aieilcln · 22/02/2025 07:15

I love how stilettos look so I wear them often including to people's houses. I try to get them repaired but if I love a pair I wear them often and they get worn down quickly. During winter I wear long pants anyways which covers most of the heel so the worn down part isn't too visible.

You sound like you are 5. Honestly just wear different shoes. Why don't you wear socks or tights with your boots anyway?

RampantIvy · 22/02/2025 07:51

I don't think I know anyone who wears stiletto heels these days, let alone to someone's house.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/02/2025 07:54

Can’t believe you’ve rehashed this thread OP. Does it not bother you that you’re coming across as incredibly selfish and juvenile? Most people would be mortified that their ridiculous vanity damaged someone else’s property.

if this is real, and you care enough about how you look that you’re prepared to damage other people’s property, get your heels repaired. It’s hardly a big job. Worn down heels look dreadful anyway.

By long pants I presume you mean trousers? Are you American?
If you're covering most of the heel what's the point in wearing them?
Am wondering if this post is a joke ...

It's half term.

anon2022anon · 22/02/2025 11:44

@aieilcln what an absolute dick move. I hope someone breaks something expensive and hard to replace at your house.

It would cost you under a tenner to get your boots sorted. You should be more embarrassed wearing skanky shoes than barefoot. I would judge you more on that horrible click sound as you walk, that you know means someone's worn their shoes down to the nail, than seeing your socks. It looks shit.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 22/02/2025 12:23

You'd take them off in my front hall or you'd turn around and leave. I'd lend you a guest pair of freshly washed slippers, but nobody tramps through my living space in outdoor shoes.

I do most of the time but walking in socks or tights also looks silly.
