@Soccermumamir It's from Next. I bought it ages ago as I fell in love with it then stuck it in my wardrobe unworn. I'm terrible for doing this. Buy nice things then wear the same old stuff again and again. Am trying really hard to wear the nice things!

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel I remember the first NOES film, when it came out in the 80s. Freaked me out and I was scared to go to sleep for a long time. Goodness only knows how I managed to watch all the things I did as a teen. NOES, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, The Exorcist. I remember watching Zombie Flesh Eaters and was so scared that I had to sleep on the scabby old uncomfy sofa in my brother's room for weeks. I couldn't watch them now, far too scared.

Manners dress owners - have now noticed the label says hand wash only. Do you hand wash?

I handwash nothing.
I wash my Manners stuff on the handwash setting in the washing machine and line dry inside out.

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/07/2024 11:52

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel thank you! It really is a pleasure to wear & due to the shirring I can get away with just a soft bea top rather than full bra - so mega comfortable which is a bonus.

At the moment its just a work from home dress, but you are right it is very easy to dress up and I can also feel glam wearing it out.

Plus nice big pockets for phone etc.

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 09/07/2024 22:55

@OhsunshineWhereAreYou - you do need to stop making everything about your size. I think when we're unhappy, we're so guilty of constantly putting everything off. Oh I'll do that when I lose X, I'll buy that when. I feel Y. It's terrible, it's like we're punishing ourselves for not being our Idea of perfect right there and then. You would never ever apply the same judgement to someone else. There's some stuff you can listen to which could help with confidence. Binaural beats. Do you have Spotify?

@DullFanFiction that is magnificent! I love it. There's some beautiful hellbunny coats. I mainly wear my two leather jackets, or my camo winter coat. It must weigh kilos and kilos. It's the best£100 I ever spent. It has a string inside at the waist I can use to pull it in and covers me at 3 dress sizes. That's a running theme!

@Hecatoncheires that's so adorable. Hope my tshirt wasn't too much for you. I have a friend I'm genuinely not allowed to wear it around. I love horror but can totally understand it's not for everyone.

@RobinEllacotStrike pockets are a must! It's the kind of dress I would buy in more than one colour if I liked it so much. Floaty goodness.

I've spent today mostly in pj's in bed crocheting. No clothing to report.

I have a couple of jumpsuits I bought from vinted and might put pics up in here if anyone wants them? They weren't the right size for me and I'd love them to go to a good home. One is black with a cream pattern and some sparkles, with a split leg up to maybe mid calf. The other is black with an absolutely STUNNING sparkle throughout but It's more culotte style and I don't wear anything but full length, no s0lit. I'd be happy to pay postage. I'd say size 18 /20 but I can put pics up and take measurements etc. I'm not sure if that's weird or not. 🤔

OhsunshineWhereAreYou · 09/07/2024 23:18

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel thank you - no I am on Amazon music though? At the moment, because I am bigger, all I think about is my size. I either avoid mirrors or stand side ways in them and suck in my belly. I have to be honest and say it’s all I think about - all day every day.

OhsunshineWhereAreYou · 09/07/2024 23:20

Another casual holiday outfit. Top H&M, wide leg denim trousers Next.

I am 20/22 sometimes 18 in trousers. Jeans are 18 and top XL.

Dress from H&M. Very big made. This is m/l and I would usually take xl in H&M.

it’s gorgeous and can be worn on the beach or dressed up.

Your outfits are lovely!

This is the kind of thing, you listen some with headphones, some while active, some while resting. It's nothing weird or odd. It's got me through some very bad phases of life , and actually I'm going to take my own advice and start to use the deep sleep one again. You can look up more about it on the website, I think it's brainsync.com. I used to use the " Kelly howell guided meditation" a lot. My brain is never ever quiet, ever.

Anyway, no pressure at all - I just had this feeling so wanted to suggest it for you. Healing, positivity. Look and see what you can find ❤️❤️❤️

This is the type of outfit I gravitate too. Love it 🫶 Looks cool and comfy 😎

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/07/2024 10:24

I do like your outfits @OhsunshineWhereAreYou and I think you look lovely . Particularly like the short sleeve stripy top .

Hecatoncheires · 10/07/2024 13:50

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel Ha ha!! No, don't worry, your tee shirt is all good. I like horror stuff but it doesn't like me so much, if you know what I mean? I have an overactive imagination so the scary stuff plays on my mind. I know my limits these days. 😁

De-lurking to join in! Have read all previous thread with much joy. Here’s me today wearing a tee I bought yesterday in Poundland for 3 quid, Asda jeans via Vinted and Clark’s sandals I picked up in the sales. Most expensive thing I’m wearing are my amazeballs earrings that DH bought me for Xmas.

Thank you @Dollyparot200 and @Lwrenn for me, I’d always been a pear shaped 14-16, then peri menopause kicked off at the start of COVID and I clapped on 4.5 stone in 3 years. It’s just not shifting with swimming and walking and I refuse to ‘diet’ any more (spent the best part of the last 20 years on diets and have had enough of being miserable) so I am trying to be positive about my current shape but I really struggle.
DH looks the best he has ever done in the 28 years we’ve been together and I just feel frumpy and like I’ve ’let myself go’. It’s the weight around my mid section and apron belly that I really struggle with. I was always so used to emphasising my waist and now that it’s disappeared it feels weird.

I could have written this myself and I dont blame you with the diet thing. I starved myself to be thin when I was younger and now I have bone density loss. No sure how it will affect me as I get even older still

Lwrenn · 11/07/2024 10:12

The absolute nerve of society demanding we are thin, ageless and spend our money on staying young and slim as possible really is the worst. The bloody audacity of some business man making money from insecurity. Well fuck him, he's no longer getting it from us!

I've had enough of not enjoying my life to its fullest because I'm a size 20. I'm fat. But I'm fun. I'm really quite nice. I'm so many other things than being overweight.
I deserve to enjoy my clothes and experiences now as much as I did when I was slim. And the only thing stopping me is an unrealistic standard society has set to profit from my insecurity and I'm too stubborn to give in anymore.

Women have so much stress, so many of us are overweight because it's cheaper/ quicker to eat things that haven't taken hours of cooking. So many of us are taking antidepressants which make us hungrier than we used to be. We smoke less. We've gotten bigger as a whole and the circle of feeling miserable/guilt/shame about being fat makes it more likely we'll turn to food for comfort, so we have to accept were bigger, we will do all we can to keep active and be mindful of what we're eating without obsessing but most importantly we stop putting happiness and joy on hold until we fit back into a pair of jeans you had in your 20s.

We're conditioned to hate ourselves. Look at the amount of stunning slim young women all spending money on botox and ozempic when they should be out having a riot, enjoying travel and parties but instead spending all their time trying to look like the kardashian prototype. It's so sad and we're almost all doing it, no matter how lovely we are, most women are being crushed by looking a way that it's almost impossible to obtain naturally.

I say fuck it, if someone has any issues with how I look then so what? I wasn't planning to shag them anyway! 😁

I have been lurking on this thread but had to come on to say this is an absolutely fantastic post and says everything I think but I'm not able to articulate nowhere near as you have.

It's just a pity it has taken me till nearly 50 to adopt this attitude
