Thanks for all the recommendations- am off to do some important internet research! Todays outfit is first time on - from brand called Turtledove London. Very bloody comfy. My kids HATE it which is also a bonus 😂 Spooky home bits in Poundland today too 🎃

Ooh I love that! The pattern is awesome!

Ooh I'm studying as well on top of working. What course are you doing? 🙂

Aww amazing. Are you working in the health sector already? I'm on my 2nd year of a 6 year degree. Currently an open degree so I can mix and match modules

TragicMuse · 19/09/2024 10:30

I'm also studying and working!

Doing an MA in creative writing p/t and working f/t! I'm just about to start my second year.

Now that is amazing. Yes I work in care its changed a lot over the years not sure I will stay where I am currently

@OhRex that dress is fabulous. I went on holiday to Spain a few years ago and the hotel was full of Swedish people all looking fantastic in brightly coloured linen and clogs, while the Brits shuffled round in beige and pale grey. The style of your dress reminded me of them.

I bought a dress in Gudrun Sjoden last week that just screams Christmas.

I also had a clear out of my wardrobe and took loads of dresses and jackets to a charity called Smart Works that gives women who can’t afford it themselves clothes for job interviews and a working wardrobe. They said they were short of plus size clothes. These were all in good condition, so hopefully they’ll do someone a turn. Will go through my bags as they said they were short of bags as well.

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 19:19

I was frantically trying to find something wearable at the back of a wardrobe as I have too much outstanding laundry. I came across some TU jeans in a magenta colour but they looked too long. Oh well here goes nothing I thought but I had forgotten they have to fit over my arse. Hooray! Perfect fit!!! I wore them underneath a patterened dress as I could not find any tops.

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 19:20

@L@LettuceTruss

Smart Works are fab but it is true they are short of plus sizes.

Aww I love creative writing. My first module is in primary education, this year I'm doing a module in English Language. I'm looking at creative writing in 3rd year 🙂 My mum has just started her open degree as well and is studying Criminology and creative writing 🙂

Yeah I hear you. I work in Education and I'm strung out. Looking for something less stressful 🙂

Me too its such a hard time at the minute I can't see anything improving any time soon which is so sad

TragicMuse · 28/09/2024 18:26

Still on the search for tweedy wide-leg trousers!

They need to be not made from wool tweed as that is unbearably and screamingly itchy. This is proving a major challenge!

Soccermumamir · 29/09/2024 18:17

Well today I have had a good wardrobe clear out. My god, so many clothes with tags on, or that I haven't worn for a long time and still look in good condition. I have 2 black bags ready to take to the charity shop. I must start thinking before I buy clothes in the future. So much wasted money over the years. At least I'm starting from scratch now. Less is more so they say 😊🙃

Have you got a Sainsbury’s nearby? I bought some wide leg trousers from there last week - not tweed as such but with that sort of look. Annoyingly I can’t see them on the Tu website so can’t link. £20 and I feel fabulous in them!

PollyOrange · 02/10/2024 21:34

I'll catch up in a minute but FGS. I couldn't even nearly close a pair of jeans at m and s earlier in my size (supposedly).
The legs looked nice on a wide leg pair just jeez , an actual triangle of non fastened across tummy !!
Still, to be positive , the ones I thought I'd like were awful but the wide leg was surprisingly nice !

Dollyparot200 · 02/10/2024 23:02

@PollyOrange Sometimes clothes vary in size if you compare to others of the same size. I normally size up with jeans coz I love them to be loose on me

LettuceTruss · 03/10/2024 07:18

@PollyOrange I don’t know what’s going on with M & S jeans sizing. I’m always an 18 there but the other week I couldn’t even do up a size 22.

PollyOrange · 03/10/2024 10:06

@LettuceTruss they didn't even have the sizes up and only one of these. Can't really afford to buy 4 sizes online in the hope of finding one too

I was thinking about you and these tweed kecks the other night, anyway if you can't find them how about some thick tights and a tweed patterned skirt?
Or a tweed pattern scarf or blazer to give you the vibe?
I've looked around my local shops to see if they had anything that was tweed and.not itchy but nothing showed up!

TragicMuse · 04/10/2024 18:27

Aww thanks for thinking of me @Lwrenn and @mixedpeel!

I've bought another pair from Vinted, we'll see if they work - the seller put actual measurements on the listing so they should fit! Infuriatingly my mum has bought some gorgeous tweed trousers from Vinted but she's a 14, which is more accessible!

@mixedpeel - I saw some in Sainsbury but they didn't have my size! And the ones I saw online only go to a 22. I'll keep looking though.

Meantime I'm also selling some things but it's slow going.

I have ordered this skirt for a wedding. Hoping to wear after also to get money worth. Anyone got any recommendations on a top to go with it?

That skirt is lovely, I would go with a fitted top, and then you can layer it with a jacket, or something else. I'll have a look and see if I can see something now.

Sorry I haven't been here in ages it's been a wild couple of weeks. My son is still having issues, but mainly my daughter was finally offered a house after 18months of living on a bed setee in my living room and my granddaughter sleeping in her cot in my bedroom, so there was 6 now there are 4, i'm so happy for her to finally have a place to call her own after all she's been through.
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't bought anything new other than these pjs😁.
