@Lwrenn I am totally on for autumn witchy vibes. I keep looking at this dress and trying to decide whether I can pull off cool unbothered witchy vibes, or whether it’ll be more potato vibes… https://mothermaple.co.uk/products/briar-rose-copy

Ive also decided to grow out my grey… this is the third time I’ve made the decision and I’ve wimped out each time after a month of roots 😂But these days I have to dye my hair every three weeks to keep on top of it and it just seems ridiculous to keep pretending!

That dress is lush! I gave up colouring mine a few years ago, the front is 90% white now, but i'm lucky i'm blonde so it blends in. I love grey hair, I think it is beautiful on men&women.

I do still colour the ends of my hair though.

Here I am mid drunken dance. I'm such a lumpen shape somehow. Wood love to be voluptuous and curvy but I'm just a bit like uncooked dough 🤣.
Anyway. Do we think from this shocking but only full length pic I have, that dresses are good or maybe a skirt, I'm 5'2.
My legs aren't awful but T the front I'm very big of tum

PollyOrange · 04/09/2024 21:18

Pic now!

I think you have a lovely figure @PollyOrange skirts&dresses are great especially when you have good legs like you do. I am only 4foot 10 and I live in dresses and skirts, trousers look awful on me because of my shape.
An a-line dress could work for you, or a skater style maybe.

PollyOrange · 04/09/2024 22:24

@ChishiyaBat thank you so much.
I need to dress for how I look now. I'll get searching !

ChishiyaBat · 04/09/2024 23:10

I get you @PollyOrange my wardrobe has everything from a size 10-24 in it i'm currently hovering at a 14-16. Plus i'm older now and gravity has taken it's toll on me. The most important thing is feeling comfortable in what you wear, my style isn't for everyone, but I like it and I don't care what others think, you have to dress for you and if you feel good that is what matters.
I hope you find some wonderful dresses, happy hunting!

Hi everyone, I wondered if you could help me. This time last uear I was a size 18 as I'd lost 6 stone. I was so proud of myself.
I had a breakdown in February and I've put o about 3 stone. I'm back up to a size 24. I'm slimmer than I was but my confidence is shot as everything (in my mind) looks awful.
My bum thighs and belly in particular are big.
I don't want to buy lots of new clothes but I also want to feel confident.
I need some thick full length leggings for work. Some jeans (possibly not jeggings but they can't be wide fit or loose jeans) and a few tops that aren't shirt and don't have a bubble hem. Can anyone reccomend anything at all. Thank you x

PollyOrange · 06/09/2024 09:04

I'm off for a city break and all at sea about what to wear. It'll be around 18-20 degrees so not mega hot but I'm stressing. Will be walking a lot so have bought some new trainers which will work with dresses or trousers but really don't want to take much and can't actually, as we are Ryanair !?
What would we all be wearing for a 4 day break?

My browser keeps refreshing and deleting my posts. So I’m going to do several short ones!

Im a 24. My favourite jeans are next lift slim shape skinny. Not sure how much slimming or shaping they do, but they’re not thin and stretchy, which personally is what I avoid. I think solid jeans are more flattering!

GoingDownDown · 06/09/2024 09:28

Legging - “Seawhisper” on Amazon are what I’m currently wearing. Not see through, really comfy, nice wide flat waistband which doesn’t dig in.

GoingDownDown · 06/09/2024 09:29

Tops - I like BloomChic. Have some nice Next ones but they tend to be a bit short. How about Roman? They have lots of tops, including longer length if you like that.

Hi @delilabel, so sorry to hear about your breakdown. Would thick tights work? Look at 'Snag' tights. Their website has lots of pics of people all shapes and sizes in a load of different colours. I think they do leggings too. My other top tip is Vinted where you can search by size and pick up clothes for a few pounds.

Also, these aren’t what you asked for! But anyway, I have a couple of pairs of these joggers from Next and really rate them for days when I don’t want anything too tight! Consider sizing down. I have this style with the pocket, they do a non pocket one too. https://www.next.co.uk/style/st797775/n05103#n05103

I’m not a great person to answer this because I’m a horrendous over packer!

I would probably take 1 shorts, 1 trousers/jeans, 1 dress, 3 tops, 1 light jacket.

To pack light.. maybe just 2 dresses, a pair of leggings in case cool at night, a jacket!

StickerSwap · 06/09/2024 13:20

I'm also going on a city break, but for around a week and it will be high-20s temperature.

So far I've packed 3-4 pairs of floaty trousers, some lightweight T-shirts and a couple of shirts. It's tricky as I won't be able to do laundry and expect that if it's really hot and sweaty I'll not want to re-wear anything! I avoid skirts/dresses wherever possible, so I'm a bit limited.

For 4 days, I’d be taking 2 dresses, a cardigan in case it gets a bit chilly at night.
And I’d travel in jeans with some sort of jacket (that again can come handy if it gets colder at night is when coming back in the U.K.)

As you can see, I’m quite minimalist! But I’m finding that it’s easier to have a very light bag if you end up carrying it at the start and the end of the trip.

@DullFanFiction they are some nice looking valves though😁.

I am useless at packing I want to take everything. I guess at a push though @PollyOrange i'd wear jeans, top and jacket to fly so the bulky stuff is on you if you see what I mean, then pack 2x day dress or shorts&tshirt(or both), something for the evening if you go out. Mix&match tops and bottoms, so you can get more wear out of them.

@delilabell I have no idea about jeans or leggings as I don't wear them, but my daughter is a size 22 and gets hers off amazon.

OP posts:
PollyOrange · 06/09/2024 19:29

I might order the valves ! And wear them as chunky earrings !!
Seriously though - how hot is it tonight. I'm in jeans and a white linen top and still too hot. I look like a stare in a loose skirt but need something that's not a frock or maybe I need a long frock to cover my white pasty legs ? I want to feel wafty and cool.

ChishiyaBat · 06/09/2024 19:51

Great idea for those lovely valves @PollyOrange 😂. I'm cold, but i'm always cold, shivering is my default😂. I love a maxi skirt or dress, wafty, hides my legs and makes me look taller.

I've had a bit of a blitz on Vinted!

I saw some really nice tweed-ish looking trousers in Sainsbury last week but they don't do above 22 so that was a bust. But then I had a look on Vinted and bought some wide-legged trousers which look a bit tweedy. £3.50!!

Then I got some brown leather heeled brogues for £7.00

I'm kinda toying with a bit of a dark academia aesthetic. I have a grey tweedy winter coat which will be perfect!

Anyway. I've also been stalking Vinted for Manners London and have bought two tops for £25.

Phew!

My autumn/winter wardrobe is taking shape!!

Oooh you have had some bargains. Please show us when they arrive. I had a black tshirt midi(maxi on me) dress for £6 in morrisons the other day, I haven't tried it on yet, but if I don't like it it'll make a brilliant nightie/housedress.
