Hi girls! How are we all?💖

I've just had something lovely happen and I've not got anyone to tell in real life really.
So my eldest has been working so hard over summer and I've bought him some things like new trainers etc just because I'm really proud of him.
Anyway he's just come home with his wages and told me the one thing he really wants to do with his first full time paycheck is take me out for a meal and I quote, "see if there is anything in the shops you fancy". I'm so happy he actually wants to spend time with me! He's a social butterfly these days so I thought he'd want to be out all hours with his pals but he wants to spend some time with me and spoil me.
We've had strange weather this summer so I might be wearing an autumn outfit, but I actually have a reason to get clothes on that aren't just there to be covered in baby sick 😂

Aww that is lovely❤️. I hope you have a lovely meal and find something nice in the shops to remind you of that day.
please share ypur outfit when you get ready!

I have also had good news regarding my son. To get on his advanced manufacturing (motorsport ) engineering course He needed a B in gcse physics, a pass in his btec engineering and a c in maths, he got his results last Thurs, he got a b in physics, passed engineering and got an e in maths, but he went to enrol today and was accepted! He just has to resit maths which he is fine with.

Thank you❤️ me too, he hasn't had the easiest of years and has been jumped twice in the last few months. He is such a good kid too, kind, helpful, intelligent, hardworking and funny. He is very lonely though as all his friends have abandoned him, so he's very isolated right now. I am just hoping he will make new friends in college🤞🏻.
I have been calling him Fisher Price my 1st enginner since he started doing engineering😂.

Bloody hell! What is it coming to when kids are being jumped so frequently?
I grew up in a rough part of Merseyside in my teen years and most of my pals were goths and moshers and after the tragic death of Sophie Lancaster most of them started carrying wee handmade weapons which worried me sick.
I wonder chish, with all the knife crime if kids are so scared they're arming themselves and getting carried away? Because your wee lad isn't the only kiddo I've heard about being jumped recently, more than once!
I hope he's okay! I remember some fucker of a teenager spitting in the face of my best friend and I saw him out without his group of pals a week or so later and I (tiny, not quite as large and in charge as I am now!) Ran at him and pushed him off his bike! Called him swear words I didn't even knew I knew until that point and told him my brothers were looking for him.
(I am an only child, these imaginary brothers have really helped me out over the years!) And luckily he didn't retaliate, but these days, crikey, I tell my kids to just walk away and get home.
I don't think you can defend yourself against more than one anyway these days.

I hope your wee boy absolutely flourishes and the thugs who hurt him all get sucked into a massive liquidiser.

Big love to him and tell him how proud his slaying online aunts are of him x

@ChishiyaBat that's great news for your son.
and he is more likely to make friends if he is surrounded by people with similar interest/outlook

Deathraystare · 28/08/2024 15:19

In the M&S sale at the moment there seems to be a lot of 20+ sizes. This is rare as normally the few big sizes go fast!

Deathraystare · 28/08/2024 15:22

@@Lwrenn

I remember the Sophie Lancaster case. Sickening.

LettuceTruss · 28/08/2024 16:16

@ChishiyaBat congratulations to your son! My DD1 was quirky and had difficulty making friends, and found her tribe at uni.

@Deathraystare oooh will check out the M & S sale. I’ve always done well at the sale in the past - an Italian wool Autograph coat for £50, several pairs of jeans for between £6 and £12, cashmere hoodie for £20 (the moths enjoyed that).

I’ve just bagged up a load of clothes for a charity that is asking for donations for work/interview clothes for women who can’t afford them. They said they were particularly short of size 18+ clothes, so hopefully these will do someone a turn.

Thank you, your kind words made me tear up❤️. He is ok, the group who are after him are all scum, they are cowardly scum too because the twice they jumped him they did it from behind, the first time they punched him in the face from behind and split his lip&gums, luckily his old head of yer found him walking home covered in blood and brought him home, she went looking for them and rang me the next day to make sure he was alright, that was the day before we went to Green Day. The second time was 2weeks ago and they punched him in the back of the head and he went down onto his knees, his knees are skinned and still quite bad, but nothing serious.
We live in a quiet part of a rough as fuck valleys town, so i'm no stranger to fighting and having to look after myself, but it's definitely worse these days than when I was growing up, there are packs of kids roaming around looking for fights, shoplifting, stealing bikes and breaking into shops etc, it's crazy!
Haha, I love your imaginary brothers!
I met Sophie's Mam at Whitby goth weekend about 10years ago, she was such a lovely woman.
I am sure he will be ok, well at least I hope so!

@DullFanFiction thank you, I really hope so, I definitely did when I went and so did my eldest son, so I am hoping he will be the same.

@LettuceTruss thank you, i'm glad your daughter found her tribe eventually.

I went into M & S in Reading and checked out their sale rail. Lots of shorts and trousers in sizes 20, 22 and 24. I’m usually an 18 or 20 in M & S. Tried on navy trousers, size 18, huge. Then tried on linen shorts in size 22 and linen trousers, same size. Couldn’t do them up. Not just “a bit tight” but wouldn’t go anywhere near. Like a 4 inch gap. Bought some nice Autograph black and white cupro shorts for £9, and a pair of navy cotton shorts for £6. But wtf with the sizing? No wonder so many pairs were left!

Soccermumamir · 01/09/2024 13:57

Hi all,
Hope everyone is well? Happy 1st of September 🙂🍁🍂 My favourite months - the 'Ber' months. Just catching up with everything, love that green top someone had on 💚

I'm freezing just got back from DS2's football match. So glad I had jeans and a hoodie on otherwise I think I would of turned blue lol 😆 it was nice not to have to think about what I was gonna wear today 😅 Comfort and warmth on a football pitch always lol

TragicMuse · 01/09/2024 14:22

It's gorgeous here in the East of England!

I'm wearing an old stripy dress I made a few years ago. Despite weight fluctuations it seems to still fit. I made it when I saw a Seasalt dress I loved but which didn't come in my size. So I dug out a pattern, hacked it a bit and made my 'tribute'!

It may last a little longer, but holes have started to appear so I'll have to make another one at some point.

I'm thinking about autumn clothes now though. What to make, what to buy...

TragicMuse · 01/09/2024 14:24

Oh also, I've been stalking the Manners Asri dress. I love it but the thin straps worry me! I have heavy boobs, and I'm concerned that the spaghetti straps will dig in.

I wanted the thicker traps but currently they only do that in Leopard and it's sold out in my size.

Lwrenn · 01/09/2024 17:17

It is flipping sweltering here lovlies! But I am so excited for autumn now! I've had some crazy mosquito bites over my ankles this summer so I'm grateful to get my tights back on 😂

Can you try it and return if they dig in? I'm okay usually with Spaghetti straps but they always fall down so they annoy me so I tend to go for thicker straps or sleeves when I can

Oh I love that! Gorgeous! I'd love you to do my make up!

Oh I'm on the autumn decoration thread kicking off at people picking on autumn decs because I love my wee pumpkins and they're shaming those of us who like a bit of seasonal change!

Love me a good season change 😂**

Thank you❤️, I'd do your makeup no problem💄.
I'm in that thread too, it made me buy new black and white skull bedding. My house is like halloween all year. There's bats, skulls and coffins everywhere🦇. Even my Christmas decs are black, red and green, I have sweary&supernatural baubles among my more traditional decs😁.

I had t thought of strap slippage @Lwrenn, you're right about that! I get it too and it drives me demented!

I suppose I could return it if I didn't like it, it then I'd have the faff of having to do it and being without the precious!!

I think I've arrived at what I'm going to do. I'm going to wait for a restock of the one with the proper straps and then buy that, whether they repeat the leopard or not. I like the leopard, I also love the red one in the strappy style.

Ooh I was having a browse yesterday on there. I've just bought a new Hocus Pocus mug from Shein and have also added 3 knitted pumpkins for my fireplace 🙂🧡🎃🎃

I downloaded temu earlier in some sort of protest towards the Halloween thread and I've filled my basket with so much cool stuff 😂

I went around my local city (liverpool) last week for a mooch and I didn't find a single clothing item I liked, but I can find so many things on shein I genuinely think are lovely!

I am so looking forward to some cosy clothes though, I'm still sweating like I'm running a marathon in the desert so once the clammy weather buggers off I'm going to have a little bit of a witchy autumn vibe this year, I'm feeling inspired to do things out my comfort zone.

This time next year I might have tattoos and wear suspenders and platforms to aldi!

I love shein too, I am poor, but I have so many things in my wishlist, but this one I am absolutely loving&it's payday on Friday.

@ChishiyaBat that is some sexy Alice in wonderland queen of hearts, I love it!
I know you're in the valleys but do you ever go to Manchester? I'm sure they have some quirky shops, I've not been Manchester for a while but I'm hoping Mr lwren takes me to the Christmas markets for a fancy hot chocolate and bratwurst 😁

Also your eyeshadow look was reminding me of something and I couldn't remember what it was and I remembered today at soft play, it's that 90s rimmel duo chrome nail varnish? I absolutely adored it,.I remember saving up a pound a week from my wee nanny to buy it from her local chemist.
I considered robbing the tester but I was too much of a goody two shoes! Anyway that's a kind of autumn colour so I'm going to get one!

I do go to Manchester, I have a friend who lives there, although to be honest there is nothing you can't get online these days, plus a lot of the quirky shops only stock tiny sizes. It did used to be my favourite thing when I was younger, whatever town or city I was in i'd try&find a cool shop. Ooh go on I hope you get to go to the markets and enjoy your hot chocolate and sausage.

They still do that nail varnish, my daughter bought a red/gold one not long ago! Haha robbing the tester is always gross to me anyway, fingered and minging😂.
