Ok they’re bloody hideous. And I’m in my 60s so way over the stage where they’re cute. But I have arthritis, no suitable sandals are comfortable. I have Teva classics which are great but only on a solid surface as gravel, sand gets inside and blisters my feet. I’m going to Cornwall. I need something comfortable and good for on the beach. I’m not happy about this choice but unless anyone can come up with a comfortable and less hideous option, I’m doomed.

I caved this weekend. I have been thinking about it for ages but also realise they look awful. However they are comfy and they are down to £25 in JD in some of the colours so I embraced it
I'm very happy with just decision!

PeterGabrielsunderpants · 23/06/2024 18:20

I used to have a mint green pair, wore them to death, now have a pink pair and a turquoise pair. Contemplating adding bright yellow to my repertoir. I think they're all lovely. Yes, I have been known to wear them into town. They're a blessing for feet 😍

DamsonDress · 23/06/2024 18:29

My DD19, her friends and bf love theirs. I thought they were hideous but I yearn for comfort so I succumbed. She will be delighted.

Just bought a pair in latte (get them being fancy - it's beige). On sale in JD Sports for £25.

NippyCrab · 23/06/2024 18:38

@DayIntarnishedarmour I have really bad feet for various reasons and I love my lilac crocs. Go online to the Croc website there are often good sales.
@Idontjetwashthefucker I love these! X

Hedgerow2 · 23/06/2024 18:44

Am also in my 60s and have 'difficult' feet. Never tried crocs because I worry about having shoes that I assume would be quite loose on my feet in case they exacerbate my tendency to trip/fall over. Do they actually stay on your feet?

DayIntarnishedarmour · 23/06/2024 18:51

I’ve tried every possible DM - shoes, sandals, boots. Birkenstocks are agony . I’m doomed. Are MBTs those rocker sole things ? I had some years ago and liked them but they had stopped trading years ago for some reason.

It comes to us all - embrace the freedom!

CruisingDuck · 23/06/2024 19:02

I have hot pink and lilac clogs, pale pink mellow recovery slides and a pink pair of slippers! Most comfortable things ever! Tempted to get a black pair for work haha! Eyeing up the pumps and sandals next

AstonMartha · 23/06/2024 19:07

Do you need help op? Say the word and I will send help. It’s not worth it honestly, imagine the disappointment on the faces of your loved ones?
First step is crocs, next is a velvet tracksuit and finally a Burberry baseball cap.

If you wear them in sports mode with the strap around the back of your foot they stay on better.

Darklane · 23/06/2024 19:14

I’ve had some for donkeys years, think they cost about £10 then, was amazed at how much my DiL paid recently.
I’ve got a knackered spine so also have trouble walking & danger of tripping a lot. I mostly wear them in the garden though & prefer Skechers going out as easier to walk in them.

DayIntarnishedarmour · 23/06/2024 19:31

AstonMartha. Yes I need help. I need a new pair of feet and ankles so I can wear nice footwear.

My friend bought me some with the sock things. I wear them to the allotment with socks and without shame

iAmBarbara · 23/06/2024 19:40

I just bought a knock off pair from Aldi yesterday. £2.99 and a horrible bright pink but my god they are the comfiest shoes I have ever put on my feet.
they come up big so I actually sized down twice.
due to the colour (and the fact I think they look terrible on me but other people can pull them off) I don’t know if I would wear them out, but for just around the house and the garden they are bloody marvellous and I regret that I didn’t give in sooner.
think I’m going to try and find a more neutral colour and then I would definitely wear them on the beach!

Has anyone tried Croc flipflops. I am tempted

Yeah - I don’t do the traditional crocs but I do the sandals.
In wear the kadee flips all the time. I buy one pair a year and relegate the prior year to ‘house only’.

then I have the tulum sandal for marginally smarter wear. So many people comment on them and are surprised when I say they they are crocs. They are so comfy and I’ve walked miles in them.

just been away for a week and I took black tulum, neutral tulum and a pair of kadee flips and wore nothing else.

I have arthritis in my feet, a damaged Achilles tendon at the point it joins the heel and a history of plantar fasciitis. When it comes to sandals, Fitflop are the business and they have many styles. Enjoy your trip 🙂

Sheldoncoopersspot · 23/06/2024 19:59

Whoops my fingers slipped and I've ordered a pair after reading this thread.

BulldogMumma · 23/06/2024 20:29

Sat here reading this thread with my crocs on 😂
I got mine last year and they are hands down the comfiest shoes I've ever worn, my partner, teenage daughter and 9 year old all have them too

WingingItSince1973 · 23/06/2024 20:49

I have a black lined pair and a cream pair. Only ever worn in the garden but I have started to wear them to the shops now and they are so comfortable for my wide bunion feet. I love dr martens and have always worn chunky shoes or sandals but my darn big toes are so painful now I've given in 😂 I've just ordered a pink pair 😂

Hedgerow2 · 23/06/2024 21:12

Can you wear them without socks?

Darklane · 23/06/2024 21:22

Yes, I wear them as slippers, no socks

I need something comfy for a long haul flight and I'm getting seriously tempted....

Cocolapew · 23/06/2024 21:42

After saying I wouldn't wear them outside only yesterday, I wore them out today 😂

AdmittowearingCrocs · 23/06/2024 21:48

I have fur lined ones I use as slippers and they are the most comfortable slippers I have ever worn, not even the expensive proper slippers my son bought me come close. Just bought Croc sliders for the summer in the house and garden. As you can see from my user name-no shame at all 😂

Spudthespanner · 23/06/2024 22:00

www.snopes.com/fact-check/idiocracy-crocs/

I like them. But gravel does get in them. Absolutely dire on stoney beaches.
