You're mid 40s and a cheapskate. Where's your foundation from?

Self confessed cheapskate here. Never pay more than a tenner for make up. Current foundation is Revlon Colorstay that I buy off Amazon or ebay for around 8 quid however I'm finding its mattness a bit ageing for my skin now.
Looking for recommendations of 'drugstore' (as they say in the US) foundations I can get off ebay or Amazon that have some staying power and don't do that weird flakey thing around the nose area. Is Revolution stuff any good?

Primark

AlphabetBird · 08/06/2024 21:58

Boots number 7, protect and perfect foundation. It’s a bit more than a tenner, but it’s nice stuff that goes in and stays well enough.

FLOWER1982 · 08/06/2024 21:59

Boots no 7

Ditto! Think it's £16 but really, really worth it. Makes my skin look lush & I'm 52. Often on 3 for 2 making them around a tenner

IWantToBeASleepingCat · 08/06/2024 22:00

Boots no7.
So many kinds..
I have different ones for winter / summer.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 08/06/2024 22:00

Rimmel 25hour one, not at all flaky

mamaduckbone · 08/06/2024 22:02

Boots no 7 here as well. I've found the colour that matches my skin and can't be bothered to look elsewhere.

StarDolphins · 08/06/2024 22:04

Another Boots No7 here too! Love it!

Comedycook · 08/06/2024 22:05

L'Oréal infallible is great imo.

Max factor is also reasonably priced and decent quality too

lavenderlou · 08/06/2024 22:06

Bourjois Healthy Mix. They stopped selling it in the UK for a while and I tried lots of others but never found one that l liked as much. I got some in Super drug when they brought it back and it's as good as I remembered.

Phantasmagorically · 08/06/2024 22:07

Try the Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint. Manages to be glowy and light but long lasting.

Lilacdew · 08/06/2024 22:08

Rimmel Lasting Finish £8. Perfect coverage.

Retiredearly61 · 08/06/2024 22:08

Phoera off Amazon. Less than a tenner, brilliant stuff and a little goes a long way. Read the reviews

CJ0374 · 08/06/2024 22:18

I was sick of buying cheapie foundations then trying at home and finding them too orange, pale, dark etc. Larger boots stores offer a free colour match service which I used. I too now buy number 7 stay perfect with SPF 30. £16.95 for 30ml bottle, but they are always on the 3 for 2 offer and seem to last ages.

I'm mid 60s and a cheapskate.

I don't buy foundation!

Matildahoney · 08/06/2024 22:26

Revolution make up is brilliant.
I can't get on with no 7 make up, depends on your skin type.

1990s · 08/06/2024 22:27

L’Oreal serum one - True Match. Not so drying.

Summerhillsquare · 08/06/2024 22:34

Estée Lauder Doublewear but wee bottles in the outlet shop. Branded stuff but on vinted.

Alltheyearround · 08/06/2024 22:35

I make a tinted moisturiser with some cream (Calendula from Holland and Barrett) and MUA base tint from Superdrug - which comes in various shades.

I'm not one for heavy make up, go as natural as poss but covering up the bags/shadows under my eyes - concealer also from Superdrug. I also go for animal cruelty free which SD have supported for decades, hence my customer loyalty.

I did once have some Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser - for getting married and have been trying to recreate it more cheaply ever since.

I really like the Revolution stuff. If you sign up they often have offers, same with SD, their beauty card gives good discounts.

Boots no 7

sosickofthisshit · 08/06/2024 22:36

I'm 44 and been using Phoera for years. Brilliant stuff, less than a tenner off Ebay, and lasts all day. Amazing coverage aswell and actually makes me look younger.

Chickoletta · 08/06/2024 22:38

Another vote for no.7 - I use the Intelligent Colour, which costs £16 but there are often offers and it lasts ages.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/06/2024 22:38

No7 here too. Love the serum one, they often have 10 pound off a 20 spend and it takes it down to just over a tenner.
