You're mid 40s and a cheapskate. Where's your foundation from?

Self confessed cheapskate here. Never pay more than a tenner for make up. Current foundation is Revlon Colorstay that I buy off Amazon or ebay for around 8 quid however I'm finding its mattness a bit ageing for my skin now.
Looking for recommendations of 'drugstore' (as they say in the US) foundations I can get off ebay or Amazon that have some staying power and don't do that weird flakey thing around the nose area. Is Revolution stuff any good?

Collection make up is actually really good and a good price (used to be called Collection 2000). Their Lasting Perfection Glow foundation is good and about £7. They do a matte one too but I also moved away from the matte and tried the glow instead.

Nivea

HollyKnight · 08/06/2024 22:42

Do you use a primer first? I find a good gel primer stops it going cakey/flakey. You can also try mixing a bit of moisturiser into it to stop it being so trying. I'm stupidly pale, so when I find a colour that works for me, I hate to have to go look for a different product.

Another Boots No. 7 vote. I bought it as an emergency purchase as I had forgotten my usual Armani spenny foundation and had a work event. I really like it and now use it as my every day foundation.

Abitorangelooking · 08/06/2024 22:43

Aldi it's a tinted moisturiser with spf 30.

BagFullOfNoodles · 08/06/2024 22:48

I like a tinted moisturiser but for full foundation I use Maybelline dream radiant liquid, decent coverage but dewy and not cakey.
I've tried Armani, Clinique, lancome all sorts, but the £8 Maybelline is better...
For when I need heavy under eye concealer I use IT cosmetics your skin but better and it's it's very very good, for day to day I use glossier stretch concealer, someone's just on its own sometimes with a tinted moisturiser and cloud paint. I don't suit a very done look. I do like glossier products but their foundation was awful on me.

I'm sure Revlon do the colourstay in a formula for drier skin?

seensome · 08/06/2024 22:56

Bourjois healthy mix is surprisingly good for the price, long lasting and not too drying

WGACA · 08/06/2024 23:03

Boots No 7 here too!

whatisforteamum · 09/06/2024 05:54

Primark at around 3 pounds it's better than the L'Oréal or Maybelline ones I was using.

I find the overall finish is the same. Quite flat and makes my skin look tired.

Overwhelmingly positive feedback on no7!

Primark also mentioned a few times. I'm using a 4 quid Primark one at the mo but their shade range is a bit limited and it doesn't blend well around the nose.

Another vote for Bourjois Healthy Mix. It's quite light coverage, but in my wizened agedness I prefer that nowadays. Doesn't highlight my scaly lizard areas. IMO it's very similar to Bobbi Brown Skin foundation.

StressedEric · 09/06/2024 08:19

L’Oréal True Match - via Subscribe and Save on Amazon . Did their online colour match which was great . Not drying at all and lasts well .
No7 is too rich for my sensitive skin and makes me breakout

bellamountain · 09/06/2024 08:24

Max Factor Lasting Performance, find it goes on really well if I moisturise first or use a primer.

Camparijane · 09/06/2024 08:25

Nivea tinted moisturiser. Foundations became too dry and flaky for me. The Nivea is a nice light coverage.

ChiaraRimini · 09/06/2024 08:26

Bourjois healthy mix, get the "serum" version for dry skin
I am also using a No7 tinted moisturiser for everyday.

Tereseta · 09/06/2024 08:28

Started using Primark double cover, I think it's a dupe for Elizabeth Arden. It has amazing cover and lasts all day for £5 a bottle.

Indigobird111 · 09/06/2024 09:04

Rimmel fresher skin

MummyJ12 · 09/06/2024 09:10

Boots No.7 for sure! I go for the protect and perfect SPF with tint. (SPF 50, and is an all in one skin care product-it’s great for during the day and not too much coverage). About £15 but there’s usually a deal on.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 09:12

Late 60s. Superdrug. For the rare occasions when I wear it.

OrangeBlossom28 · 09/06/2024 09:17

L'Oreal True Match every single time. It's so good!

silverhamster · 09/06/2024 09:18

Bare Minerals original powder foundation. It's about £25 a pot but each pot lasts about 9 months. Doesn't feel like I'm wearing foundation and doesnt look like I'm wearing foundation, just makes my skin look airbrushed (54 yrs old, gave up on liquid foundation at 47 as it was making me look older)

JoJothegerbil · 09/06/2024 09:40

No 7 Hydraluminous. Think it's around £16 but there's usually an offer on making it nearer to £10.
