You're mid 40s and a cheapskate. Where's your foundation from?

Self confessed cheapskate here. Never pay more than a tenner for make up. Current foundation is Revlon Colorstay that I buy off Amazon or ebay for around 8 quid however I'm finding its mattness a bit ageing for my skin now.
Looking for recommendations of 'drugstore' (as they say in the US) foundations I can get off ebay or Amazon that have some staying power and don't do that weird flakey thing around the nose area. Is Revolution stuff any good?

I buy boots no 7 one with serum in or lancome.

I am a cheapskate but to be honest yes the lancome one is £30ish but it lasts me at least 6 months so worth it.

48 here and have decided to embrace my sunspots and fine lines. Always wore a full coverage foundation like EL double wear but they are just too drying now and sit in the lines although it covers the sunspots so I can't win either way.

Am currently using this one from Primark which I assume is supposed to be a Charlotte Tilbury dupe looking at the packaging? Happy with the medium level of cover and sheerness.

Revolution coverage is good if you can find a colour match. I always find them too 'peachy' for me, regardless of shade (and I've wasted a lot of money trying to find the right one.)

I think a good concealer is the thing I need more than foundation in my 40s.But if it's drugstore foundation you're after I would go for Bourjois Healthy Mix.

cansu · 09/06/2024 11:30

boots no 7. hydratint luminous I think it is called. About 16.00.

BusterGonad · 10/06/2024 06:47

Go to Boots, get shade matched and foundation matched then order via Ebay etc, you will probably find a good deal.

WonderingWanda · 10/06/2024 06:50

Another fan of the Boots No7 range here.

LadyMuckRake · 10/06/2024 06:58

Rimmel with the orange lid.

I'm 54! It is a really good foundation and I'm never spending a fortune again.

Ginmonkeyagain · 10/06/2024 08:32

My cheapskate solution was to never really start wearing foundation regularly. I tend to use think that just add a little boost or make me look more pulled together.

These days I use a primer and Halo Glow from ELF. That gives me more even, glowy skin. Both under the £10 mark.

Deathraystare · 10/06/2024 15:18

Wet and wild do a glowy and a matte liquid. I got both from Amazon. Cheap!

Stibble · 10/06/2024 15:22

I find maybelline reliable for natural looking foundation that lasts well and doesn’t flake, currently using their urban cover.

Aurora791 · 10/06/2024 15:24

i love the Garnier Skinactive BB cream- not quite a foundation but i find it gives me good coverage that lasts a work day without looking cloggy, and you can often find it on deal for around a fiver.

Blarn · 10/06/2024 15:33

I have been using the L'Oreal true match tinted serum for about a month now and really like it, really light and it evens out my face without covering me up.

WhatOnGodsGreenEarth · 10/06/2024 15:35

L’Oréal True Match

Revolution make up is brilliant.
I can't get on with no 7 make up, depends on your skin type.

Interesting. What skin type would you say No 7 works/doesn’t work for?

Hailingfrequenciesopen · 10/06/2024 15:51

I have been using elf lately. I ditched Mac for them. Their cc cream is great and I put powder over. I am 43. They have a points system on the website and I have had some bargains using my points.

changefromhr · 12/09/2024 08:24

Been meaning to update this thread. I found it! It's a primark one. Perfect Finish Foundation. Pic included.

Estée Lauder Doublewear but wee bottles in the outlet shop. Branded stuff but on vinted.

What outlet shop please? I want to try the sheer one but don't want an expensive mistake.

Xmasbaby11 · 12/09/2024 23:37

Boots No 7 here too!

L’Oreal serum one - True Match. Not so drying.

This. I was a matte girl for years and this totally changed me. Absolutely love it and my skin actually looks healthy!

runningpram · 12/09/2024 23:43

Poundland! It’s honestly just as good as Rimmel. Loreal etc

NashvilleQueen · 12/09/2024 23:49

Elf

bringincrazyback · 12/09/2024 23:55

Another vote for Elf, I recently discovered their soft glam foundation and love it. I was using Estee Lauder Double Wear, but so far I'm liking the Elf one just as much.

Kaleidoscope101 · 13/09/2024 00:27

Rimmel perfect match foundation
