There will be a reason its reduced and only sold out in a size 22.

I just meant I thought it's likely to cling as it's quite flimsy-looking. I never said anything about what size a person needs to be to wear it. Women of all sizes can worry about their tummies or whatever. It's not wear this or wear a sack, is it? If you're confident in your body, then great, not everyone is.

Anyone, no matter what size they are, should wear a static control slip under that dress. It will make the dress hang better on any body size.

TizerorFizz · 09/06/2024 00:44

To the non fashionable on this thread, look at what that unfashionable Miuccia Prada is selling! The OPs choice is just fine. @TeaChocKitKat Lots of party dresses are shorter. In fact brides wear short wedding dresses for the evening now. Take no notice of some of the dubious advice on here and don’t take a pashmina! This is not 2000. Just add minimal accessories and shoes as in this pix. Which the non fashion brigade will think is a £2000 nightie!

Grey dress as wedding guest
JoniBlue · 09/06/2024 00:51

The dress has grown on me since you first posted the link. I think in person it is probably quite nice.

Waffle78 · 09/06/2024 01:25

It does look a bit like a nightie and too skimpy for a wedding.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 09/06/2024 01:59

Why do posters keep saying the grey dress looks like a nightdress? The Prada slip dress looks like an underslip. Yes, obviously some people will wear it as a dress, but it also looks like an underslip. You could even wear it under the OP's dress.

The grey dress has beading and sequins - it clearly isn't a nightdress.

Style&Beauty is an oxymoron. This topic is where staid and curmudgeonly lives. Women are to be modest & inconspicuous in the background with a bolero. Inevitably florals and nothing of note are the recommendations. Literally, don’t know why posters ask S&B to comment on potential choices

Tappingthetopfloor · 09/06/2024 18:25

This topic is where staid and curmudgeonly lives.

This thread certainly is - I’m amazed at some of the comments and even wonder if other posters are looking at a different dress to me!

TizerorFizz · 09/06/2024 19:18

@Tappingthetopfloor I think what’s worse is that posters have no fashion sense. Or remotely up to date ideas. Yes, of course the Prada dress is skimpy but skip dresses are. That’s what they are called. That doesn’t mean women don’t wear them. This is also just a party. The op isn’t going near a church! It’s like a load of elderly matrons have descended on this thread with utterly out of date attitudes to a party. Where, it’s highly likely, the bride will be in her second wedding dress that’s probably very skimpy!

TootGoesTheOwl · 08/06/2024 08:09

I think it's beautiful. Not sure what some mumsnetters wear to bed but since I am usually in pink fluffy pjs from primark it doesn't look like nightwear to me🤷‍♀️

I don't believe for one minute that the "ooh it looks like a nighty" posters wear nightwear that bears the slightest resemblance to this dress.

I hope the OP hasn't been talked out of wearing it. As a dress.

urbanbuddha · 10/06/2024 02:05

😁So true.

Mystro202 · 10/06/2024 07:27

Is it for a Sumner Wedding OP? If so I feel it looks a bit Christmassy. If not I'd go for it!

TizerorFizz · 10/06/2024 07:54

Christmassy! Doesn’t look like velvet or red with white fur! It’s a summer dress with beads designed for the evening party the op is going to, Thetz egg it’s on sale now and not at Christmas.

TizerorFizz · 10/06/2024 08:02

This is current season Prada. What would be wrong with a dress similar to this?

Grey dress as wedding guest
tkwal · 10/06/2024 09:01

Since you like it and you're not going to the church/service wear it with whichever accessories you choose (I'd go with shocking pink or orange) It's definitely a party dress ! I'm sure you will look gorgeous

sweetpickle2 · 10/06/2024 09:02

Wow the fat shamers cant help themselves can they! The OP is asking if the dress is suitable for a wedding, no mention of their size, and people still feel like they have to come along and post about how much they hate fat bodies. WHO ASKED.

OP I think the dress is fine for an evening do of a wedding.

LittleTiger007 · 10/06/2024 09:42

Definitely not for a wedding even just the evening. It looks like a negligée.

Skybluepinky · 10/06/2024 09:54

No, if u have to ask then u know it’s an issue.

Dress size shouldn’t dictate what women should wear. They should wear what they want, irrespective of their figures.

Of course they should. But only if they genuinely don't care what other people think. Only if they can brush off the sniggers and the stares. Only if they have the hide of an absolute rhino. Only if they self confidence the size of a planet and give zero fucks. Only then.

TwigletsAndRadishes I like you. This is spot on! In the real world we wear clothes that make us LOOK GOOD whatever our size and shape! This means we can’t all wear the same things. This is common sense. Different styles and cuts look vastly different on differing bodies.

SleepingStandingUp · 10/06/2024 10:06

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/06/2024 18:07

If you’re rail thin, it might just be ok as an evening guest. I can’t believe they sell that slip of nothing in giant sizes.

Yes god forbid the giant women show off their awful knees and calves!! 🙄

It's hideous and what are they wearing on their head??

But that's being plus size generally because whatever you wear, someone will have an opinion about how awful you look and how you'll look awful in anything because you're fat and therefore lazy and worthless and inferior to them. So why ot put up with that in a dress that makes you feel pretty.

SatinHeart · 10/06/2024 10:14

Hi OP, wouldn't wear it to church but yes fine for an evening do. I like grey and pink as a colour combo so maybe pink jacket/bag/shoes?

TeaChocKitKat · 10/06/2024 10:39

Wow! So many comments! I'm 5ft so it wouldnt be anything like as short on me as it is on the model. I was really hoping for suggestions on how to accessorise it than a debate on if it looks like a nighty or not 😂

I've ordered it to try on. Not entirely convinced about it but it doesn't look like any nightys I've ever owned so will see what it's like when it arrives.

Good! I’m pleased to hear it OP (love the dress!) and then post some pics of you wearing it. 😁 and then you can really break the internet!
