The colour is fine op. I’ve been to a wedding with the mob in a similar colour and you’re only going to the reception.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/06/2024 18:07

If you’re rail thin, it might just be ok as an evening guest. I can’t believe they sell that slip of nothing in giant sizes.

Wow. Fat shaming out in full force.

urbanbuddha · 08/06/2024 05:53

I like it - great for a evening do.

NattyTurtle · 08/06/2024 06:54

It's fine OP, if you like it then wear it - and ignore the miserable sods on here!

TootGoesTheOwl · 08/06/2024 08:09

I think it's beautiful. Not sure what some mumsnetters wear to bed but since I am usually in pink fluffy pjs from primark it doesn't look like nightwear to me🤷‍♀️

PerfectTravelTote · 08/06/2024 08:12

It looks more of an antique white than a grey. I wouldn't...

fruitypancake · 08/06/2024 08:13

I like it ! I think wear with silver accessories

iamreallyabee · 08/06/2024 10:59

I think it's beautiful and I would wear that

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 08/06/2024 12:54

I think it's a lovely dress. The model is 5 foot 10 so it'll probably be knee length on the self confessed petite OP. Looks perfect for an evening wedding reception.

LlynTegid · 08/06/2024 12:58

No, colour ruins it for me. Hope you find something.

Tappingthetopfloor · 08/06/2024 13:22

This thread is fast becoming like ‘the dress that broke the internet’ 😄

Yes, I wasn't expecting this many comments or such differing opinions 😁

What’s your thoughts are you going to buy the beautiful dress?

category12 · 08/06/2024 16:32

I think it's fine for the evening.

It doesn't look like it will be very forgiving but if you're got the figure for it, it's pretty.

BCBird · 08/06/2024 18:24

I think it looks like nightwear too. Sorry OP.

Not very forgiving? She’s not asking for contrition. It’s a dress not a priest taking confession.
Dress size shouldn’t dictate what women should wear. They should wear what they want, irrespective of their figures. Dress size doesn’t mean wear a sack if you’re above sz12

Illegally18 · 08/06/2024 19:29

I think it's pretty, though maybe a bit flimsy. If you wear it, I hope it's a sunny day. You need to be young, slim and a with a bit of a tan to get away with it. A pink pashmina would be nice, and also a slip underneath so that it doesn't cling to your thighs and puffs out the skirt a little.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 08/06/2024 20:29

No. It looks like a really flimsy nightie and all those sparkles say Office Christmas Party to me, not Summer Wedding.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 08/06/2024 20:34

Dress size shouldn’t dictate what women should wear. They should wear what they want, irrespective of their figures.

Of course they should. But only if they genuinely don't care what other people think. Only if they can brush off the sniggers and the stares. Only if they have the hide of an absolute rhino. Only if they self confidence the size of a planet and give zero fucks. Only then.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 08/06/2024 01:48

I hate this type of comment. If it comes in a size 20, it can be worn by a size 20. The wearer just needs confidence in her choice.

I can't see any reason why this dress can't be worn to a wedding. It doesn't remotely look like a wedding dress.

Well it has sold out in 22 so there could be a lot of weddings happening in the next few weeks!

FutureMandosWife · 08/06/2024 20:46

I think it's fine for a guest, I didn't look at what people were wearing at mine.

What a load of negativity and nonsense.

Even conceding for the sake of argument your point is valid, this particular dress isn't even a tight fitting, body con dress. It's intended to hang loose on the model and if the wearer wears the right size it'll hang loose on a size 8 or an 18 or a size 10 or a 20.

A size 20 trying to squeeze into a size 16 isn't going to look great. A size 20 wearing a dress designed and made in a size 20 - no issues.

I just meant I thought it's likely to cling as it's quite flimsy-looking. I never said anything about what size a person needs to be to wear it. Women of all sizes can worry about their tummies or whatever. It's not wear this or wear a sack, is it? If you're confident in your body, then great, not everyone is.

Deadringer · 08/06/2024 21:08

It's peculiar looking imo.

Jacopo · 08/06/2024 21:51

I think it’s quite attractive, and definitely fine for an evening reception at the wedding.

I agree with previous posters that it would not look great on a plus size person.
But if a plus size person wants to wear it that’s their choice. Other choices are available but if they choose to wear this that’s up to them.
