It looks bridal partyish and just looks not suitable, my opinion.

Easipeelerie · 07/06/2024 19:09

It’s very expensive to buy just for an evening do. I’d get something else.

Moveoverdarlin · 07/06/2024 19:11

I think it looks very flimsy. And yes, looks like a nightie. The colour would wash a lot of people out. I’m fair and blonde and it would look dreadful on me. Would look far better on someone with dark skin.

shootingstar1 · 07/06/2024 19:13

I like it 😊

twentysevendresses · 07/06/2024 19:18

No.

Mandarinaduck · 07/06/2024 19:22

I think it’s lovely and would be fine for a wedding reception.

anchorinthetender · 07/06/2024 19:27

The sleeve length just looks odd to me and doesn't flatter even the model wearing it.

Alittlefrustrated · 07/06/2024 20:25

No - even the model doesn't look good. Too flimsy, short and will look white on photos.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/06/2024 20:33

If it was a nightie I’d be saying it’s gorgeous. However as it’s a dress I’m saying “Show it no mercy and kill it”.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/06/2024 18:07

If you’re rail thin, it might just be ok as an evening guest. I can’t believe they sell that slip of nothing in giant sizes.

"giant sizes" sounds horrible!

Rowansiskin · 07/06/2024 21:06

I like it (though I did actually wear my nightie out clubbing once)

Dinosweetpea · 07/06/2024 21:33

I think it's absolutely fine OP

TinDogTavern · 07/06/2024 21:38

I think it's lovely, fine for an evening do, and agree with you that with bright accessories it wouldn't look bridal.

TizerorFizz · 07/06/2024 21:56

@TeaChocKitKat Not quite sure why people don’t get a satin slip dress but with sleeves. Im not far off 70 and I get it!

Overall it’s a fairly standard dress with embellishments.Loads of designers do similar. Unfortunately MN doesn’t do top end designers! As long as you have a good figure and decent underwear, why not? Wedding receptions are just parties so of course it’s ok. Just wear gold accessories. The beads look bronze. Maybe baby pink heels or kitten heels and make sure it’s not too short.

therealcookiemonster · 07/06/2024 22:01

the embroidery around the neck is very poorly done and looks messy
also a bit too short for wedding imo
it doesn't even look nice on the model.... so..

JoniBlue · 07/06/2024 22:50

I wouldn't buy that dress, but I think grey is ok as a colour.

JoniBlue · 07/06/2024 23:01

If I did buy it, I think silver accessories may be nice with it. I am not very fashionable though!

BusyCaz · 07/06/2024 23:02

My thoughts exactly

TeaChocKitKat · 07/06/2024 14:47

Thanks. It's only the reception / evening do. I'm also short so hoping it won't be that short on me. I was thinking with coloured accessories it might work but maybe not 😞

Look, don’t seek mn style advice. They’ll have you in a bolero and curmudgeonly dress. Staid and boxy
It’s a beautiful dress, buy it,wear it,have a super tone

Oh please 🙄 maybe OP has loads of money and doesn’t need you to be so judgy.

I’m surprised popsy hasn’t been mentioned 😂

I hate this type of comment. If it comes in a size 20, it can be worn by a size 20. The wearer just needs confidence in her choice.

I can't see any reason why this dress can't be worn to a wedding. It doesn't remotely look like a wedding dress.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 08/06/2024 01:50

HawthornMay · 07/06/2024 18:57

It's all subjective but that dress is awful. It doesn't bear comparison with the OP's choice.

Zone2NorthLondon · 08/06/2024 01:50

MN rules seem to be,go to a wedding looking like you fel into Aladdins basket and emerged enrobed in a floral dress accessorised with a bolero and jaunty hat

😂 Yes. I think your choice is very pretty, OP, go for it! I checked the model's height, as this looks very short, and she's 5'10" so the dress will be a fair bit longer on you.

I also agree that bronze or silver accessories will look good with it - no need to shock it into submission with brighter colours, unless you want to.
